In a typical day, an Activity Coach at KOOSA Kids is responsible for providing a fun programme of activities to their allocated group of children. The day involves playing a series of stimulating games, which encourages the thinking and creativity of children, in order to accompany their development outside of the school environment. It is a really important job for the parents who need childcare, and it is just as rewarding to know that you can have a difference in these young peoples lives. KOOSA Kids is, therefore, a brilliant company for anybody looking for experience in the childcare sector, or moving into the education sector. The company provides very good opportunities for advancement within KOOSA Kids too, which is ideal if you're looking to progress and challenge yourself as an individual. In just about a year I moved up from being an Activity Coach, to now training for the role of Site Supervisor. The Fast Track Management program has allowed me to expand my skill set into management, whilst still working in a fun, active and exciting environment. 
I am also at University, and KOOSA Kids are very flexible with regard to students, allowing us the time that we need for our studies. By nature, KOOSA Kids is extremely flexible in terms of allocating shifts - it's always your choice - all that is asked, is that you stick to the days you do choose to make a commitment to! 
My favourite part of working with KOOSA Kids is that I get to meet new people all of the time, whether that's new colleagues or customers. I'm yet to find a colleague who isn't friendly, bubbly and sociable, but we all have different interests, hobbies and experience, creating a diverse atmosphere in the work place. A lot of my friends are also my colleagues, which I personally find makes for a great dynamic when working as a team - I found myself a little KOOSA family!

A day at KOOSA holiday club can be long or short depending on your shift but it will always be busy, somewhat chaotic and lots of fun. 
The best thing about KOOSA is the children, you will often see the same children coming back which allows you to build up great relationships with them. 

KOOSA is a very intense working day, you will not get a break during your shift, you are supervising the children at all times. You can ask your site supervisor to step in if you need to make a phone-call or use the bathroom but other than that you are working all day. However if you can make the day fun for the children; you’re making it fun for yourself, I’ve never felt a day drag because I’m always so occupied. 

Advancement at KOOSA is fantastic and very well organised. I started as an assistant coach in October 2019, the next holiday period I worked I was a coach, and now I’m a site supervisor. I’ve received training in: safeguarding, EYFS, Prevent Duty, and I am now fully qualified in paediatric first-aid. All of these things really enhance my CV and it is for this reason that I would particularly recommend this job to young people/university students. However if you have enough enthusiasm, a person of any age will thrive in this environment. 

Management at KOOSA are very supportive, it’s about asking for help when you need it, for coaches and assistant coaches, I have always found site supervisors to be involved and very supportive, and for site supervisors, regional managers are always willing to pick up a call for any question and someone from head office is always turning up to check on something or other so you’re rarely on your own for long. 

Fantastic seasonal/holiday job!

I joined KOOSA Kids in the summer of 2015, so they must be doing something right if I've stayed this long. I have really enjoyed my time at the company and I'm sure I will continue to enjoy my time. I've had the pleasure of working at a number of different clubs at the company and although each club is run slightly differently, the team are supportive and nurturing. It's a fantastic opportunity to watch the children grow and flourish under your care. 

I started off as an assistant coach at one of their holiday clubs. I really enjoyed the role as each day was different and you never really know what to expect. It's also brilliant as you get to know the children who come regularly so you can build up those meaningful relationships. Over the years I have progressed throughout the company and have site supervised a number of after school clubs and currently a holiday club. The management team are fantastic and are always a phone call or an email away. I feel staff are extremely supported when they begin their time at KOOSA Kids - I hope the staff at my club will say this! There are a number of opportunities for career developments and further training if necessary.

It's a great job if you're seeking a career in childcare - or perhaps you're not 100% on the direction you want to take. You can work around other commitments due to the ad hoc nature of shifts, or you can work on a full time basis. I was able to complete my undergraduate degree and teacher training whilst working at KOOSA and I have no desire to leave anytime soon.

ensuing all the activities are done on time.

it is a really welcoming and fun environment. it’s always encouraging, kind, friendly and helpful  

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
starting off with the children free playing. then doing the welcome bit where we run through the rules and the fire drill and we run a game. then we separate the children (by age) into three different groups. and each coach and assistant coach goes off with their group and runs an activity for an hour. we then have break time where the children can have a snack for 20 minutes. we then go back into our groups and run another activity for an hour and then have lunch for an hour. we then do free play outside (weather permitting) for half an hour and get back into our groups and run one more activity for an hour. and then have another break where the children can eat another snack for 20 minutes. we then have free play all together outside (weather permitting). next we take all the children inside make sure they have all their things and then run another game and hand out certificates (one for each group and one from the site supervisor) and we wait for the children to be collected to go home.

If you enjoy kids it can be very fun, but there is little to no training or direction, leaving me feeling very overwhelmed and out of my depth. 
Expected to know what I'm doing in all situations without anyone offering any help or advice.
I was put in charge of a Year R with ADHD on my first shift (and repeatedly afterwards) with no support who I clearly couldn't handle, still no support given.

It is near impossible to discipline the kids as they are afraid of making them upset. The kids are then terrible to deal with and there is no way to stop the bad behaviour.

The pay is pretty bad for the work done and cut off date is a little early so it's common to receive pay 2 months after.

Everyone is expected to work over lunch supervising the kids which means mentally you never get a break so it gets very mentally exhausting and stressful

Coaches tend to push difficult kids onto assistants and don't offer help when it is clearly needed

Conclusion: If you don't have significant prior experience with children, the job can be VERY difficult with no support or training to take care of children.

A typical day generally involves keeping the children safe, happy, exercised and fed/hydrated during snack time. There are many structured activities on offer, but it generally works better to see what the children are interested in on the day and what the weather is like.

The best and worst part of the job are the children - after school clubs generally work better with the younger ages and this has been my experience at KOOSA. The issue with older children is they generally want access to tech and the equipment on offer can be old fashioned.

Management do listen to ideas/requests and stop by during sessions to see how everything is going. Pay is no better/worse than competitors. There is training available, but this is more for senior employees.

If you like children, are creative and generally fit, this is a fun job. If these points don't apply then stay away! KOOSA is a reliable employer and there is often scope for additional shifts/holiday work should you want it.

I have been working at koosa for 3 years. I love working at koosa as I love being active! We get to play a lot of sport with the children including football, hockey, rounders and cricket! We also play a lot of games including parachute games , circle games and free play. We also do arts and crafts such as clay, painting and hamma beads. In the summer we have a lot of special days such as 'wet and wild' where we all have a big water fight. Every Friday we have fancy dress where we dress up as the theme of the week, one week you could be dressed as a minion and the next week as a pirate!
The best thing about working at koosa is the children ! We have children aged from 4 to 13 so you get experience working with children all across the different age groups ! Koosa is the perfect place for you whether you want to begin your childcare career or you have been in childcare for a long time and you want something new ! Every day is exciting, you will make lots of new friends and you will make memories for life!

A typical day at work is working from 8 till 6 on a school holiday weekday with up to 40 children. I have the role as an assistant coach but end up doing the responsibilities of Coach, leading a lot of the games and doing toilet runs etc. We organise 4 activities in the morning with different ages group, one art activity, one active outdoor activity and one drama activity. Inbetween these is a drinks break, a snack break and lunchtime. This is then followed by free play which is where the children get a bit of freedom outside with footballs and hoops etc. I enjoyed working here mostly, but I felt I was getting responsibilities that were of a higher degree than what I should've been for pretty poor pay (£5.05 per hour). The hardest part of the day is keeping your attention up all the time as you can't let your guard go as your job is to look after children. The most enjoyable part of the day was getting the satisfaction of children having fun and having a good day out. 

I didn't stay with company for long due to the low pay, however, for a first time job they provide flexible hours (not guaranteed though) and have a nice easy interview process. The hardest part of the job is there is an incredibly high ratio of kids to members of staff and it's not as easy or glamorous as a lot of people may believe. The staff there are very friendly, however the management team can get funny with you if you have to book a day off or can't cover a reserve shift that you have agreed (to with good reason if you've agreed to it you should do it unless there is an emergency). But this isn't often as long as there is a good reason the management team will try to accommodate for example a medical appointment. Like I say great for a first time job or around uni/college. There are opportunities to progress particularly if you show you are hard working and willing.

If you enjoy working with 4-12 year old children this is the role for you
I had overall responsibility for managing the site and supervised one member of staff
FUN is at the core of everything Koosa Kids does and the company offers a wide range of activities for the children indoors
You will also be expected to play outside with the children, as well as offering a wide range of art and craft activities 
I had excellent feedback from many parents of our children 
I was very sorry to leave☹️
