Unfortunately the trio of owners have no moral scruples whatsoever.  They only want to make money.  They even expect to make a profit from the live-in staff who only get paid minimum wage.  

All training offered is only to tick boxes for legal purposes with no desire at all to train staff or teach them new skills to help with them progress.  

The male owner has been heard to say that there are plenty more people in the world so if they don't like it then they can go.

1 member of staff per 35 diners for breakfast or 10 rooms a day in housekeeping is a normal day.  

Management is wildly inadequate and not able to cope with the levels of business or lead a team in any way.

The hardest part of the job is being so busy from the moment you start until you finish your 10 hour shift.  (Then you get left over food as staff food)

If first impressions are anything to go by, do not bother wasting your time at this hotel, or company for that matter. Management could not give a flying hoot about you, you are seen as a number, if you come into work and earn them money, that is enough. One employee even told me horror stories about the owners and Lake District Hotels as a company, that even the locals don't want to work for them. Now that say's it all.  The lakes has many opportunities and much better hotels for people looking to work in hospitality, do not bother wasting your time working for this company.

We started our day at 7.30 in the morning. We served breakfast for the customers till 10.00 o'clock. Afterthat we prepared for the wedding, made decorations and we served on the ceremony as well. Then we served dinner. High quality of service was required everyday. 
Our management was professional, I worked with very nice bosses together. My co-workers were friendly, cooperative. In my opinion the hardest part of the job is the team-work.
I enjoyed chatting with the customers day by day and I love the kids.

I have been here for 2 months. I have put time and effort into my work and I can honestly say I enjoy what I do. Each day has it challenges but these challenges become opportunities and set my goals for the day which I enjoy doing. 
The culture is good. There is fun and laughter and my team work together and we all have a purpose!


Like any hospitality job we worked hard but there was a great team work vibe.

Accommodation was on site and adequate with shared kitchen.  Staff meals were good and we always got special treats.

If you want to progress they can push you through development plans, lots of training opportunity and mentoring from management.

I’ve been here for 4 weeks.  Really enjoy working here.  The GM is fair and respectful and always listens and the door is always open.  My staff accommodation is very clean and feels like at home.  I’m living in the new staff accommodation in Keswick with a new modern kitchen and house 

In this place people are treated like a piece of furniture, lazynes is tolerated  while hard work is unapreciated .Not the best managment to say the least
