Typically, once I had registered the fact that I was actually in work, I went to my kiosk, where I would then help prepare the refreshments for the fans that would enter the stadium 90 minutes later. Stock would have to be counted at this point, so that the amount of stock we had, matched what was on the stock sheet.

Once this had been done, we basically tied up any loose ends throughout our end of the ground, for example if the hawkers did not have the right amount of stock in their station, I'd go up and help them carry down the crates to their station. Normally, all of this could be done within 45 minutes at the most.

After this, the fans would enter the stadium, and I'd basically begin to serve them refreshments, both hot and cold. All of which would be ready by this point. I'd then process the transaction, safely, quickly and responsibly. This would basically go on for the next 90 minutes, until the match kicked off. In order to speed up the process, I'd try to prepare some hot and cold drinks beforehand in order to serve customers much quicker.

Once the match had kicked off, I would assist my team leader counting the takings from prior to kick off. This is the first interval. After I had done this, and made sure it was right, I'd then have the pie that was provided earlier by the club. 

Once I'd finished my pie, I'd set about preparing some more drinks for the half time rush. I'd then basically face a ridiculous amount of people for 15 minutes or so, serving refreshments. At times this could be quite difficult for a number of reasons, such as having sold much of our stock (for example, we would only have a limited number of pies - once they were gone, they were gone), difficulties communicating with customers (many do not speak English) and also issues with change.

After the last customers had been served, the shutters would come down, and I'd set about counting the half time takings with my team leader. I would also assist with counting stock, as this was measured in relation to the sales at the end of the shift, and also with cleaning, things such as the ovens, counters etc.

After this, I'd sign out, and go home.

The process was essentially the same whilst hawking. However I did not have to do any cleaning as a hawker, and I only sold bottles of Carlsberg.

I learned a lot during my time at Liverpool. I gained a large amount of experience of working in a fast-paced environment. I also learned how to become more organised (preparing the drinks beforehand) and to develop my body language skills, which occasionally came in handy when customers didn't speak English very well. I also learned a great deal on being professional and keeping my cool, particularly when dealing with customers who may be agitated for various reasons, such as the team not performing very well, or basically being surrounded by fans wanting beer at half time.

Management at Liverpool was very easy to deal with. Management were easy to communicate with - if we had an issue, for example, needing more napkins to put in the dispensers, someone would sort that out for us quickly and provide napkins for the dispensers. However I can't ultimately say the same for the new owners of the club, who attempted to introduce many new policies that were generally shot down pretty quickly and had little impact on improving match day revenues.

Much of the staff at Liverpool regardless of their position had a similar sort of lifestyle and upbringing. Many were students, and many had grown up in nearby areas, so it was easy to find plenty of common ground and get along with them. I met plenty of new people who I still see on occasion and get along well with.

The most difficult part of the job was the half time rush. Basically, several hundred people need to be refreshed in a 15 minute period. Some speak English very well, some do not. You are literally non-stop for 15 minutes and if a problem arises it becomes very difficult to deal with, especially if the problem is change because there is no real way of processing the transaction and NOT getting into trouble.

The most enjoyable part of the job was the camaderie between the staff, because everyone got on very well despite the massive turnover of staff. I also interacted with many people from all over the world, and learned little bits about themselves and their cultures. I also enjoyed the fact that working hours were limited, although this eventually was the main reason why I chose to leave.

As a steward, I had to be in work 3 hours before any match kicked off to check the safety of the stadium and to check the exit gates to make sure they were properly locked. after all our chekced had been completeed we would wait for our head steward to give us our breifing about how the previous match day when "the were not problems with the crowd and we didnt have any complaints", we would also be briefed about the game on the day about what kind of crowd to expect and what away fans would be like just so we could prepare ourselves for a busy day. 1.5 hours before kick off i would go down the my exit gate which was next to the entrence turnstile and start to let fans come into the ground. once the match kicked off the gates would close 15 minutes into the match and nobody else would be let in. if fans had any problems they would come to us and ask questions and if they was any question i couldnt answer i would talk to my head or deputy head steward and try and get the problem sorted as soon as possible. 15 minutes from the end of the match we would open the exit gate and prepare for the crowd to leave the stadium. Once the stadium is empty we could the gates and de-brief and then leave ourselves.

The main thing i learn from this job was how vital customer service really is and how effective it can be when done in the right way. Learning to deal with numourous questions and problems at the same time took some time to get used to but after a while it becomes second nature to me. This job taught me alot about customer service and it gave me vital experience of how to deal with alot of different types of people ans situations.

The management wasnt the best. Usually it took a good 10/15 minutes to try and find help for a customer but if i walked away looking for help i would always go back to the customer and assure him/her that i was trying my best to solve their problem. After learning how the deputies and head stewards worked you learn how to deal with bigger problems on your own and take the extra responsibilities that arent already in the job description.

In any job i apply for co-workers are vital to me because i really enjoy working and meeting new people. The football ground was the perfect place for me because you would meet and greet hundreds of fans as well as staff and get to learn faces. It took its time but eventally i got to know most of the staff and before work we would all talk and have a laugh but also while working we would do our jobs but make sure we have fun doing it at the same time, because the happier we are the happier the fans would be seems we are the first point of contact when the fans enter.

The hardest part of the job for me was dealing with people jumping over the turnstiles and stopping them before they made it to pitch site. Personally i am not the biggest or stongest of people but trying to stop a 6'4 man running is quiet a difficult task but when you have the right people around you to help you out if makes things alot easier.

My favourite part of the job was meeting and greeting fans as they enter the stadium. I have always been a happy person and i like to see people entertained also happy to enjoy the experience of the event at hand. I believe customer service is the first step to makes the experience special because we all know if somebody has a bad experience they are more likely to tell there friends and family the bad rather than the good. I know you cant make everybody happy with the way you talk or act with people, but you have to minimise the chance of them giving bad feedback to friends or family and thats where my enjoyment comes for the work.

You will receive 4 hours "training" ie watching videos about inclusion and how great LFC is etc.

You may be placed in the away end with zero training about codes, exercises and drills or how to deal with fans, what to do in dangerous scenarios. 

The middle staff are generally ok but there are "too many chiefs, not enough Indians"

The rowdy aggressive crowds are to be expected. What isn't acceptable is the repsonse from senior management when you inevitably lose control of a situation. Ie 5 people demanding to get into an area and police and not in the vicinity or response are occupied elsewhere. 

The management are more concerned about PR than the actual safety of staff. Any complaint by a member of the public no matter how frivolous usually results in instant dismissal. 

You will be told to start and stop several tasks by different "chiefs, deputy chiefs, heads, deputy heads etc if you use initiative and take responsibility (eg. Suggesting moving to a different tea bar queue as you are overstaffed on the one you are manning and the adjacent one is understaffed could result in you being told off only 5 mins later to be told to move to said tea bar, then told to go back to previous then moved back to original etc) you wont be rewarded or commended for good work or going out of your way to make fans days better. 

Preventing a riot = nothing.  Being able to speak German and helping an away fan = nothing. Having the away fans sing your badge number in good jest= nothing 

A drunken member of the public being loud and obnoxious and abusive at you to the point where you have to call the head steward then when told they will be ejected upon this threat they  suddenly accuse you of being racist will result in you losing your job with no scrutiny or recourse to absurd accusations.

There are staff who have worked at the ground for years who are not familiar with the codes for evactuation etc. 

European games generally descend into chaos as the crowds swarm behind the goals and you will be told off for allowing it to happen. How you are supposed to stop 2000 people with no powers or provisions to do is never explained. 

I have seen stewards abused, sworn at, spat at punched, grappled with and objects thrown at them.

The club simply sees stewards as disposable and easily replaced.

The concencus among staff is to just stay out of the way or hide because if you are half competent you will be given the worst jobs.

Quite simply not a safe environment. The KOP end and centenary are OK. Yet the favourites get given these jobs.

If you are in the away end, especially for the Derby you will be subject to abuse. They will even put temp agency staff who have no training, no knowledge of the club or city in with you. 

A bad company that any older member of staff will tell you stopped being a "club", years ago and is now just like any other souless corporation.

In a general day I would invite fans into a community park outside Anfield stadium and provide them with a memorable experience. There is no time to rest or sit down as fans are continuously entering and leaving the park. There are various jobs within the park and with the help of management, each ambassador gets to experience all scenarios of each job. This has a positive impact on all ambassadors because at times jobs can get tedious so having the opportunity to try new things keeps you on your feet and always gaining experience. Of a Tuesday there is a work training lesson for 90 minutes where the management provide feedback and say what went well with each person, what could be improved and how it could be improved. As all co-workers are around my age we get on really well and socialise a lot even when not at work. I would say the hardest part of the job is being relatively static throughout periods of time followed by a lot of movement and it takes its toll on my legs after a while. However I believe the best part of my job is being able to watch the team I support during home games as one of the various jobs we do is interact with fans inside the stadium before and during matches.

Worked on various different kiosks and get moved around quite a lot so its difficult to get comfortable with colleagues or specific kiosks as it is unlikely you will be assigned that position again. I have learned how to manage large crowds of customers and how to work quickly yet efficiently in order to serve as many customers as possible. I have learned how to handle cash money and tips. I have also learned how to handle fresh food and the temperature at which food has to be at before regulations allow you to serve it. As I previously mentioned it is unlikely that you stay on the same kiosk each match so it is difficult to get to know your co-workers however when on shift everyone in the team works together to make sure that the selling of products is optimized. The management at Anfield are extremely helpful and work on the side of the staff to enhance the experience the fans have. The hardest part of the job is how busy it gets and having to deal with drunk angry football fans who argue with staff however when working as a team these issues are resolved fairly quickly and efficiently. The most enjoyable part of the job is the atmosphere.

My time at Liverpool Football Club was essential to me, as I have now developed a unique set of skills and a knowledge that will ensure I hold an advantage over other candidates in the future. It gave me a firsthand insight as to how a successful establishment operates and what it takes to ensure growth, and how to attract more customers/fans to the club through various offers and schemes.

My colleagues were fantastic understanding and energetic people, our job roles represented the fact that we were the first point of contact for the establishment of Liverpool Football Club. We would respond to customer queries regarding football related subjects, e-commerce and media/PR queries via email or telephone. 

I did not find the job hard of course there were challenging times when you would have to deal with a customer complaint or a awkward customer, however I believe my skills and personality was more than capable to deal with these queries. The most enjoyable part of the job was when you dealt with a customer query and that a few weeks later they submit feedback about the service they received and to hear that they appreciate what you had done for them was rewarding.

Worked 7 Years in various departments. Had the best of times when Working on the kiosks it felt like a family during those times. the work could be stressful and fast paced but that is what I enjoyed. When I switched to department it again had similar feelings. Normal days were a bit mundane but we were a small close knitted group. Although our department took on too many roles and within the stadium an times an very rarely did we see any benefits just extra work loads an not much appreciation for doing so. if it was not for your fellow workers it would have been a horrible switchover role. There was also a bit of a clique. I returned to university after 2 years after dropping out so could only work matchdays and weekends. I still did so and I worked hard at work. But was never repaid and infact lost out on even weekends at that point. I went to further my education an felt as though I was penalised for doing so. Despite 7 years of service at the club.

At least now I get to return as a fan each week.

I can hand on heart say I love working at LFC and I don't even really like football. The shifts are on a casual basis but they would like you to work at least 75% of the shifts offered to you, but honestly its not even work. I personally work in the kiosks but you can get work in the boxes where you will meet all sorts of famous people. I have managed to work my way up to a team leader position and that shows that hard work will really pay off because team leaders are always needed. If you commit to shifts you will generally get put on the same bar and therefore make great friends, there is also the opportunity to get agency staff on your bar if you are a staff member short so that's always fun too! The management there are lovely to and they will always support you and make sure you're okay especially if its your first game. The work is fun I wont say easy but its definitely easy to cope, half time is probably the most hectic but when your in that routine it becomes second nature!

A typical match day requires me to be at the stadium 3 hours before kick off to prepare the stadium to be safe and ready for supporters to enter and enjoy the match day experience. First thing we do after we enter the stadium is have a meeting to go over all health and safety procedures and to talk about anything that went well or wrong in the last game. We then assume are positions inside and outside of the ground to welcome supporters in a safe manner and ensure they get to their seats in time for kick off time. This job is challenging as the sheer number of people entering the stadium means you have to be constantly on top of everything to ensure it all runs safely and smoothly. I really enjoy the job as my passion for sport and Liverpool football club in particular means I get to work at a sports stadium I hold in great regard and I feel like I'm contributing to the successful running of the club.

As part of the Bar staff team at Liverpool FC they have a range of managers and supervisors that are constantly reliable if you ever need them. A typical day at work would be to start to put champagne glasses on the tables, once that is completed I will then start to count all the wine that will be put out on the customers tables. I float between being behind the bar and serving drinks to the customers, whilst being at Everton my confidence has grew and have broadened my communication skills to high standard. The hardest part about this job is trying to juggle so many orders at once, but as I can maintain a high level of enthusiasm I cope quite well. One of the perks of working here is you get to come across some brilliant customers and get to know them as the seasons go on, I work with bunch of amazing people who I consider friends for life this also includes my mangers and supervisors. I would recommend anyone to work here as it is such a fun and enjoyable environment to be involved in.
