The day at work commences with setting out the classroom ready for the children to arrive. Once the children have arrived the older children are taught basic education such as counting letters etc whilst the younger children are supervised in guided free play. I have learnt tolerance, target setting, staff management, observing and assessing skills and time management. I work with one other member of staff who is under me.
I enjoy every moment of my job and find great satisfaction in seeing children develop into their own little person and achieving their own small steps to independence.

I found that it is difficult to get support, Mudiad Meithrin support and committee support. I was reassured in interview that I could attend training. I have received some really good training but still don’t fully understand the curriculum and neither do the other staff members. It left me feeling very stressed about possible upcoming inspections as nobody is checking that everything up to date and correct. It just feels like you get dropped in the ocean and you’ve just got to figure it out. I know from speaking to other Leaders that it’s not just me that feels this way. 

I worked as a Cylch Leader, and although the cylch is your responsibility alongside your committee. Your support officer from Mudiad is invaluable. They're always there at the other end of the phone/email to offer support and guidance. Lots of great training opportunities from Mudiad too.
