Work is repetitive, physically difficult and urban work is usually noisy. Welfare facilities vary and not everyone takes employee health and safety on site very seriously. Colleagues have been made to work near asbestos, raw sewage and in extreme noise levels without appropriate PPE. 

Financial issues mean employees are almost always at risk of not having contracts extended or being made redundant. At times I have felt undervalued despite being a skilled worker with a degree. The pay is terrible as well and the company is not accommodating to parents of young children. 

When I started there I was told that after my first two months that they would see if they still needed me or keep me on as permanent. Two months later they kept me on but still as a temporary member of staff with the excuse that they "were budgeting" and couldn't allow a member of staff to be maid permanent. This continued for several months. I kept asking if they were going to take me on permanently  whenever they were about to renew to be greeted with the same response of "Budgeting". Even in staff wide meetings the board members kept saying they were going to take temporary staff members on permanently. However I was never kept on as permanent. Eventually I was made redundant and my contract wasn't renewed.

A decent company to get your foot in the door archaeologically, useful initial training and the field team themselves are fantastic and friendly. The work/life balance is non-existent unless you work in the office. Very real us/them divide between field team and office team. 

A typical day is always changing and as such can be quite interesting. The community is friendly and I have made some life-long friends. Holiday days are easily applied for and accepted and mental health awareness is good. 

However, many employees are on a rolling contract and so there is no job security and pay needs to be addressed to fall in line with our qualifications, dangers at work and london living.

Hard labour under tight time constraints. Project managers are never there. They are only ever in the office. Get shouted at for not being quick enough even though your body is breaking. People are in cliques and makes it hard to work with them. The culture is stressful. You're never on a permanent contract, it's always rolling so there is no job security at all 

I’ve worked on many digs in the last five years in the field. MoLa was one of the best to be sub contracted with. Relaxed atmosphere, helpful supervisors who understand the complexity of the job and give good advice with a relaxed manor. 

I got a lot of work done because I was genuinely happy here, and some good results too. Everyone was welcoming from day one and made some friends along the way :) 

Fantastic friendly, experienced people to work with. Everyone happy to help. Management very friendly, fun, flexible and helpful. Very nice, unusual office, just Can be hot due to no air conditioning in the office. Easy access, flexi hours

Miscommunication often happens in there, nepotism-like environment is a daily thing, promoting themselves and friends or who they like. Little chance to learn anything constructive, the management has no character, or charisma, no real knowledge of coaching and team leadership. 

There is little to no job progression and the pay is low as with most of the jobs in heritage and commercial archaeology. 
The work itself is great and everyone who stays does so because they love what they do, so it is a very rewarding environment in that way.

Archaeology based company with a team of professional & multi disciplinary people supporting the business.

Downside is that the office does not have very good public transport links, no mainline or tube connections.
