A typical day in the hospital would be getting ready for the day by half 8 / nine o'clock, start preparing the clinic notes each clinic at a time, if any notes for the that days clinic comes get them prepared before carrying on with the next days clinic, you have lunch get the notes for the clinic in two days time sort them out and start preparing them if you have time to do that. I have learnt that it takes all day to prepare on full days clinic and that the system you use can break down on you so you have to make sure you have everything you need. The management can sometimes be a bit disorganised if the main people go on holiday or to a doctors appointment. My co-workers were amazing, they helped me and encouraged me to be the best at what I do and are very supportive. The hardest part of the job I did was finding all the notes that were meant to be in the department but they clearly weren't or the consultants or the nurses had the set of notes. The most enjoyable part of the job was helping the consultants to find cures for the patients and help the patients out while they wait for their appointments to start/

Another of patients to treat in a tight schedule

Very good,  a great range or facilities. Treated staff and patients well 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Commence work at nine see patients individually or as a team until 12. Break for lunch. Continue with schedule until 5. Could take a quick break if needed for a drink or call during the day. Depending on schedule another of afternoon sessions were held in the gym area.

Like any job it has its challenges, sometimes tasks are too many for healthcare assistants

We value team work, excellent care for patients and support structures for worker are great

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Shift handle,  greetings with patients introductions , personal care, serving breakfast,  taking vital signs,  serving teas, lunch and assist with feeding.  Also update paperwork

My job role as Care Co-Ordinator involved seeing patients before they left hospital, assessing them for the care they would need as they adjusted to life back at home, and then assessing them at home for the continuation or withdrawal of their care package My co-workers were all highly skilled social workers whose workloads appeared barely manageable, but the majority maintained good morale nonetheless. I was not given a proper induction, however, and I found the job much more challenging than I had expected. This is why I left as quickly as I did.

Shortage of staff for the work load in the hospital.

We have people from different multicultural backgrounds and very professional environment.

Working along with nurses and doctors.
Attending to patients needs.
Attending to family's who have come to visit patients.

I worked for the NHS for a long while and it has definitely gone down hill in recent years. Although given chances to improve a good worker is often taken for granted and worked into the ground. There were some great teams to work for but the underlying culture is often toxic. It has got worse and I am much happier for leaving for pastures new- wish I had done before.

If you want to work within healthcare especially on the wards, then this is the right place for you. or even any hospital setting. your care levels get pushed to the max. and depending on what ward you are on and what they specialize in you could learn lots of extra skills that can help you progress further in a career within healthcare. But would recommend that if you were to go into a career within the hospital, go in with an open mind. its not all like what has been portrayed in the papers and on the television.

Day commenced with ensuring my staff were all present for their shifts, check lists for 6 theatres to see where patients are located for escorting to theatre.  Make sure cleaning and ancillary jobs are carried out i.e. specimens taken to lab, carrying out tasks requested by senior staff before lists start.  Training as required by the trust carried out in a timely manner.  Great team work.

This position has been fantastic for during my time as a student as the hours have been flexible and were able to accommodate my needs. The days can be very busy but also very quiet and so each day is different. Work is varied and challenges often arise when working with the public.

co-workers where always good people i worked with although some of the night staff in casualty where not so nice.
