My experience at NWH started off positive but unfortunately declined very fast. First week was promised there was a secure job with adequate training. Upon my first week training was given a trainer who unfortunately came with an attitude. He wouldn't train you, would smoke in the vehicle, and wouldn't given appropriate directions when driving and completing jobs. After discussing with management about being dissatisfied with how my training was going, I was thrown into one of their assessments. After assessment I was told I had a lot of potential. After a few weeks I was given various different instructors and training levels fell as was not consistent, as well as being given different vehicles every day. As well as that I had a second assessment and drove really well. My assessor said nothing but was not happy for me to use sat nav for directions as I was not familiar with the area. My assessor also arrived half and hour late for the assessment, complaining he was hungover. I completed all safety procedures, vehicles checks and site procedure and felt like I had met all the requirements and taken previous advice on board. I was shocked to find out that I did not pass this assessment and in the end it came down to a character judgement rather than performance. I did not fit in with the clique and tried to fit in. Any new drivers I urge you to take another job, the promise of training is not all that it lives up to be. 

I decided to join NWH Group as they appeared to be an expanding and exciting industry and had a drive to be not the cheapest, but good at what they do.  Unfortunately, this cant be achieved by the current operation pressures.  Both Sales Ledger & Order Processing are hugely under staffed.  You cant expand a business on overworked and stressed teams. Ultimately, when the customer service cant cope and customers are getting substandard service.  As with any business, customers wont accept bad experiences and will walk. This is no way reflects on the TW & SL team, they do there best to keep their head above water but ultimately, this
is area is letting you down.  Shown buy the number of customers who are cancelling their contracts unhappy.

The job doing the skips is actually pretty good. The guys on the skips will talk to you and help if needed, but you’ll often get sent to some far away job late in the afternoon like 3/4pm to places like  fife, dunbar, hawick, most days are between 10 & 12 hour days And your still expected to work a saturday if it’s your turn even if you’ve done 55/56 hours, It says overtime if required, which is actually everyday and you are never once asked if you want to do the overtime or thanked for it. The driver trainer is on a bit of a power trip too. Now this guy is none other than just a driver with no extra qualifications who thinks he’s a driving test examiner.

It states you’ll work certain hours but then they get changed the second you’re in the door, you’ll receive zero training then be blamed for things going wrong. The team leader is on a massive power trip and will look to have your contract terminated if you stand up to her and the bullying culture within the company. The CEO will act like he’s on your side then stab you in the back like a snake while the Customer service manager needs to grow a set. Worst place I’ve ever been! Avoid! Avoid! Avoid!

All work is planned for you always someone there to help if needed start same time every day

Don’t get stressed if your job stresses you out don’t do it

Great team fantastic culture we are all there to help each other

Busy so day goes in quick no stress go out get it done go home

Too many problems to state really. 

Management for the most part are just for optics - company could run better without them & their unnecessary input 

Deadlines are impossible to meet but still, for some reason, we are expected to pretend they are. Outside of going over driving hours and/or speeding, you’ll never hit their targets.

Stay away, the last thing you need when driving a HGV is pressure, especially for the money they pay. 

You are promised the earth only to find out it's nothing like you have been told at the interview. 
There are a bunch of nice drivers that are helpful and the banter is nice.
But unless you are prepared to lose your will to live I wouldn't even bother.
The so called "exhaminer" takes the whole experience to a whole different level.
An arrogant power freak that it's nothing but a clueless company man.


The pits, out with a so called trainer  (a driver with no qualifications) who's told to sign you off when you can operate a couple of levers then left to get on with it yourself. Don't expect any assistance when your struggling  as there's only a few guys who will stop and help. Also don't pay you the full bonus and will make up some excuse not to pay it  will be used as a company scud mag  avoid!

They don't sugarcoat that its a demanding job, but at the same time the earning potential and job security is there. 

Some good people in the company, like any company with 300+ employees, you're not going to get on with everyone. However, if you have serious issues, they are treated seriously and you will be heard out.
