From the outside looking in Olympus Keymed looks like a fantastic company with its ultra modern buildings accompanied by its very good local salary and benefits. 

Unfortunately there is a culture within this firm that has to change and what I’m alluding to is the micromanagement of everything you do, more worryingly Bullying is something that prevails and this could not be more evident in my time with the company.

 It was something that I was told had been ‘eradicated’ and was ‘in the past’ this needs to be addressed it’s just unfortunate that the powers that be do not want to acknowledge that Both exist and is it is harming the morale. 

Throw all the benefits you want at your staff but most people just would like to be treated as an adult and be trusted to just get on with the job in hand. 

It is very much “in your time here we will treat you as children whether you like or not, but don’t forget the hamper at Christmas kiddies” 


It’s a real shame because there is some great people who work at Olympus Keymed, the team(not including the team leader)  I worked with where fantastic to me in my training and there patience of which is a huge plus for anyone coming into the role. The big minus is that the management of the department left an awful lot to be desired and this unfortunately ruined my whole experience, until that changes expect this role to keep appearing on indeed !

Toxic environment, no support 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Unpleasant, toxic and extremely unfriendly.  

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
My days were busy, I was pretty much left to it. No support from the manager or her senior member of staff, especially during Covid. They, as well as staff they liked, worked from home or the gym, or were furloughed whilst I plus one other from a team of 9 run the office.

Olympus Keymed Southend. Great products and some fantastic people below management level. This would be a great company to work for but the a-retentive, control freak, micromanagement culture exercised by insecure mid-level management who also bully extensively destroys anything positive about this position. 
The company stance is that they own you body life and soul for a not too great salary and that you have no right to life outside of the company, demanding excessive hours mostly taken up by nitpicking admin. Work life balance is NOT an option while being treated like a naughty child by inept middle management on personal power trips is the norm.

I am very comfortable in my team. Management are respective and helpful when I've needed them.  Work place culture is good, management are aware of any problems that arise and make changes to address them. Enjoy working in a trusting environment

Lots of benefits like subsidised restaurant, nursery, dress down days, fun days, however salaries tend to be on the lower side to compensate.

Also, when applying they will not disclose salary until they offer the job - this puts a lot of people off!

Pretty chill company, work flow was decent but few opportunities for training and development. Only worked there for a year but i did enjoy my time and i know that quite a few people choose to work until they retire there.

Work with good people, and good benefits on good products which make a positive impact on people’s lives.
