If you’re ok with uncouth,sharp around the edges and have your boxing gloves ready, then you’ll be ok with the culture. 
Inherently old fashioned from the building, culture, processes and products. An overall sense of lack of care for employees from trying to not break your neck in the pitted car park to broken, dirty toilets and taps to no coffee, spoons or milk. Overlay the aggression you experience daily and very quickly you question your decision to join. It stems from the top,the volatile and brutal style filters down through the teams. The erratic, volatile approach described as pushing and progressing causes chaos, wasted work leaving the teams feeling overworked but actually half the work is wasted and the teams are really inefficient. It’s very difficult to deliver and make a difference. You do get pay rises every six months,which is good but necessary given the lack of standard benefits you would be offered by other companies the same size.
Graduates very quickly learn that you progress by stamping on those above you.they are often promoted too quickly to fill the multiple gaps in the teams as staff retention is so poor leaving them exposed and overwhelmed. There is the opportunity for this to be a great company but it needs to try and keep the more experienced, professional employees so this can become the norm and address the issues with the senior team. They also need to become more open minded by offering part time to working mums, flexible working hours and the option to work from home. I hope this helps anyone thinking about joining, there are far worse companies to work for but this was is really tough, be ready! 

Worked at Potter and Moore for a year and not sure sure how some members of staff have managed to stay there for years. 

The company paints itself as a ‘fast-paced’ but this is just another word for them being ridiculously disorganised. 

The management is extremely poor and staff are often left feeling overwhelmed and overworked most of the time. Training processes are also abysmal/non-existent with you being expected to  just know everything from day 1.  

Although I have met some lovely people during my time at Potter and Moore, there are a lot of unfriendly people within the business and the work/office culture is very toxic. 

The high staff turnover and negative reviews speak for themselves. Management are incredibly good at painting the company as something it’s not during the interview process, don’t be fooled! The business are fully aware of these negative reviews but do nothing to make improvements showing their clear lack of care. 

It's honestly such a shame because I believe that Potter and Moore has the potential to be a really great company to work for, but due to their lack of resources, lack of employee benefits and outdated processes, woking here is very difficult. 

The management are brutal, demeaning and power trip you until you get to breaking point both mentally and physically. They think there staff are disposable and you are often called into meeting to be blamed for company mishaps when as a team it is everybody’s responsibility to have ownership. There is no positive office culture or teams, staff are made to cry in teams meetings with over 10 other employees left to watch. Those who do stand up for themselves are showed the door. Constant recruitment for people not to stick around so those who are left to pick up the pieces are worked into the ground. 

This company would've been one that someone would be happy to work with 5 years ago, now after covid and the new members of management who think they are invincible- it is truly a shambles. You don’t like the way they work, then leave. No recognition for hard work or progression, you work until you get to breaking point.

A Typical day at work would involve struggle and conflict. Sadly, due to the amount of work required for one role to be completed fast and efficiently was not feasible in the environment and unclear communication regarding job tasks.

Since handing in my notice, I have learnt that i can be appreciated in the workplace for completed tasks and small achievements. 

The workplace culture was very much looking for someone to blame instantly and shout at before thinking about solving any existing issue, a no blame culture should be put into place to stop any potential office bullying.

The hardest part of the job was trying to keep up expectations, ever receiving praise and feeling like i had to be my own boss sometimes.

The most enjoyable part of the job was the few enjoyable characters i met along the way and meeting my best friend.

I worked for P&M and was one of the long standers. It was a role for life I remember thinking to myself and the job and team were very secure.
Yes there are bonuses but these are not in line with the market standard and are very much discretionary. In other words depended on how the management team were feeling and we’re not performance based. 
Hours are very long and whilst this isn’t expected, there will be the snidey remarks made if you were to leave on time or not put in the same hours as other team members. Other departments were heavily criticised also for leaving on time and taking their allowed breaks. 
It was a very difficult place to be in my final days and I wouldn’t return for any salary offered. The wrong people are promoted into senior roles and the culture feeds down in the ranks. 

Incredible shame as it was once a place where we enjoyed being. I genuinely never expected to leave! 

Developing and producing new formulations, producing ingredients listings and documentation relating to new products e.g. Quality specifications, stability testing, challenge testing, requesting toxicity testing and patch testing. Formulating a wide range of toiletry products for skin care, body care, foot care and hair care. 
Responsible for numerous successful product launches of various different  product types, formulation requirements and testing requirements. Regularly attend NPD and customer meetings, updating senior management team and customers on project status. Regularly communicate with customers, suppliers and testing houses

Working from home, constant video calls where you are berated, embarrassed and talked down to. There is no reward or recognition for success only shouting for errors (most of which not your fault)

management team actively lies to you, there is a lack of trust between staff and management. All of this while the board of directors receive and sell shares.

This is reflected in the working conditions in the office/factory. It looks like it is bordering on falling down. Lack of even a mobile phone so they can save costs! There is no switch off when you finish the day.

I loved the company when I first joined and expected to work here for a long time. The FD when I joined was a great manager, and our department was happy.

Unfortunately a change at the top made a huge difference and I stopped enjoying my role and could see the change also with other colleagues. It is a shame, I & others had been very happy here. 


Awful experience, one of the worst places I have ever worked. Old school management and a toxic work culture. Processes are old and new innovative ways of working are not encouraged. The workload was unmanageable and there was an extreme pressure to deliver within unrealistic timeframes. The company have a clear lack of trust in employees and discourage working from home. 

The company offers strong training, exposure to end-to-end product development, and the opportunity to take ownership early on. The team culture is collaborative, and senior leaders are supportive and genuinely invested in developing young talent. It’s a fast-paced environment, but incredibly rewarding for anyone passionate about beauty and brand growth.
