Working as an HR Advisor, at Proper Cornish has been an incredibly rewarding experience. The role offers a great balance between strategic input and hands-on HR operations. Every day brings something new, from supporting employee relations cases and advising managers, to contributing to policy updates and driving employee engagement initiatives.

The company culture is supportive, inclusive, and encourages continuous development. I’ve had the opportunity to work closely with senior leadership, which has helped me strengthen my ability to influence and advise at all levels.

What I’ve appreciated most is the trust placed in me to manage my workload independently while still feeling like a valued part of a collaborative HR team. The learning curve is constant, but so is the support.

Start at 6.00am full ppe provided.
1 paid and 1 unpaid 30 minute break throughout the day. 1st break is between 8 and 9 and have canteen so you can get a really cheap cooked breakfast or bacon/sausage bap. Tea and coffee facilities, free fruit on Tuesdays. 2nd break around 12 canteen has hot and cold food available really cheap and free pasty or saus roll. Work is repetitive but can have a good laugh with colleagues as long as you can do your quota of crimping pasties(easily achieved) management Happy to work on line alongside you and are very approachable. Day finishes at 3.30pm. Only work Monday to Friday although some Saturday work is offered at enhanced pay rate.
Paid weekly.
Free treats like cream tea day, national chocolate day etc.

Worked on the end of the line, packing so had to wait for products to be ready to pack. We would have our orders to pack so we knew what we needed we just had to wait for them to be ready. Check temperiture's on products and when ready wrap and pack to order, label and send down to dispatch. clean between each product and wrapping all done. Then loose packing, so same applies but as it says no wrappers. Day finished tidy up again and go home, ready for the next day!!


I was able to work in other department so was often asked to do so and there for learnt a lot of different skills along the way!!

Unfortunately nothing. Other than leaving

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Just being in a toxic vile place is enough to stress anyone out

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Lots of bullying. Ignoring health and safety standards. Lots of bickering and arguing

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Straining my back and my shoulders crimping at the least 4 pasties a minute whilst drinking lots of red bull and taking lots of pain killers just to try and numb the pain the work has caused me

Management are very clicky and look after their friends over other employees. There is some work that is back breaking, with no chance of getting moved around, no variability. Break times are monitored and timed, and you get so much grief if you are seconds late. They get really frustrated with you if you need a toilet break. It's like being in a boot camp. 

Worked here several years in various jobs. staff are ok fun to work with but overall most were not happy working for Proper Cornish. Management is very poor with no sense of direction or any understanding of how long a job may take. Hours are long, pay is ok but not great. There is promoton but only if your face fits and you are a yes person, if you question management to much you are thought to be a trouble maker and overlooked for any promotion.
Overall there are worst places to work but i am happy i have now moved on from Proper Cornish

all the freebies don't make up for the Toxic environment, management are two faced and talk behind peoples backs. staff are leaving constantly as people are treated poorly.
you are timed constantly on the line and told to keep quality and go fast, but the other staff are going slower and poor quality.
Training was poor and just brushed over Food Hygiene
Did not learn alot only to get my head down and get on with it!

Brilliant company to work for, free food, regular bbqs,  good management and staff

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
For me it's the travelling but the work itself is ok..

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Mixed on both accounts . The work environment can be noisy at times so always wear your ear ppe,

Got nice perks, like free lunches and little gifts but the management team really need to get something done about the bullying. In the interview you're told about hygiene and that hands may be checked but not once where they. On some of the shifts the team leaders don't seem mature enough to do the job plus machines break down a lot.

Going home and leaving the place behind.

Being there. Management. Working there

Awful. Toxic. Horrendous. Awful .
