Working at Rd John’s is a deeply rewarding experience that blends technical skill with a fantastic team environment. As a sausage machine operator, my typical day is a high-speed masterclass in production. I am responsible for feeding meat into skins, crafting thousands of sausages daily to meet our demanding order targets.
​Through this role, I’ve mastered the art of machine efficiency, learning exactly how to balance speed with quality to ensure every order is fulfilled on time. The most challenging aspect is precision; I focus intensely on ensuring every sausage is the correct size, which directly supports our packing team in filling tubs quickly and accurately.
​The management and workplace culture here are exceptional, providing a supportive atmosphere that makes the hard work enjoyable. My favorite part of the day is the final wrap-up—seeing the massive volume of finished products come together perfectly is a truly satisfying end to a productive shift.

Spoke to like you are nothing.
Bullied in to doing something for them or they threaten to put you on shorter routes so you get paid less.
Alot of people leave due to management (used to be a great place to work when it was a different manager)
More of a cooperate business instead of being the family run business like they used to be, they have grown so its understandable but would be nice if they kept that family feel about the place but that has long gone, so it feels like a cold place to work at times.
Employees help make the company grow so it would be nice for them to recognise that.

Working here is to stressful you're expected to pay clean air charge, speed, unload your van at drops in an impossible time which when 1 of your drops could be half the van and you have to carry everything in by hand as there's no sack trucks to use and nothing is packed into boxes. Management will eavesdrop on private convocations as the cctv system has microphones in them any bad words said against the company will have a manager running up to you to ask if everything is OK there are a lot of breakages in your van as nothing is boxed up and left to slide around your van freely. This is an honest review of my experience there others may have a different one

I work in the warehouse and the morale is top notch. Don't get me wrong, the work is hard as I'm moving pallets all day but it is satisfying and rewarding.

We have all been sent on various training courses to help our day to day jobs and now leadership courses are being offered to those that want them.

New management has come in and is driving the company in a positive direction so prospects for the future are looking really good.


The job in its self was enjoyable, however due to vans not being loaded well or sometimes not being loaded at all at time of shift starting making work life balance difficult at times. When suggesting ways things could be changed to improve these issues you were met by stuck in their ways management  who had no ability to organise or even attempt to. If you have no problem knowing what time you are going to start and finish then this is not a bad job at all.

The place is toxic, worst job ive ever worked in my life. More than happy to exploit their staff. Management do nothing and haven’t done anything for years.there are no rules, people do whatever they want.  Be prepared to work to the bone for it to only mean nothing.  No benefits to working here and an overall soul crushing experience. 

Could be stressful at times during the Summer especially ,as having to race around to do all the drops.
Sometimes the hours were ridiculously long , as one could have 40 + drops over a wide geographical area.
A bullying female Transport Manager , who was very unpleasant. 
Good bunch of drivers , who were really friendly and helpful. Pay was poor .

I think I was possibly the only driver there without points on my licence !

The most enjoyable part of any day was going home time. Other than the staff really work hard together to generally "get through another day" of poor management.
There is a blame culture.
Staff are treated poorly,
Management (especially the female family director) do not care for their staff, they are rude.
Staff just except that Johns is poor and get on with it.

Traffic and not being listened to sometimes by route planners

Pretty relaxed if you’re ok with a bit of hardwork

Drive van to various places and deliver goods

Great company to work for. Free breakfast every Friday, discounted food, gym membership at the local gyms, everyone is really friendly. Exciting company to work for as clearly a company that is not afraid to invest in their staff and organisation. Great pension scheme and also mental health support if needed.
