I joined R G Carter in May 2021, The recruitment process was great, had the opportunity to meet the team I would be working with and also met with members of the board as an introduction to the firm.
From day 1, I really felt like a valued part of the team. My role includes supporting all areas of the group and this creates interesting challenges and a diverse workload, an environment where I can thrive.
A great place to work with great people and a real feeling of belonging to something fantastic.



Started as a junior and was treat the same within my 4 years with a salary the met junior role throughout, even know I was advancing and moving up to the next level. had a sense of being on my own all the way throught my career. I would say it's a great company for chucking you in the deep end and fighting to get out making you a stronger individual when finished. Great social events but not always advertised throughout the whole business. There our some great people who do work in the business who showed me alot and supported me but wished that there was more:(

working with professional bricklayers on a verity of building sites throughout East Anglia 
learning all aspects of bricklaying and how a construction site runs.
The management helped me to become a successful bricklayer and once trained moved on to work within the small works sector  of R G Carter Thetford working along side other trades on many different jobs.

As per the heading, without a doubt this is the worst company I have ever worked for.

I'm used to working for professional companies and working for this company was a complete culture shock for me. Their systems are like 20 years out of date, the subbies working on their sites have nothing good to say about them. I felt embarrassed working for them as I was so much better. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
Nothing. They are dodgy stay well clear  

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Working for them and them setting you up to cover themselves

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
A typical day would be managers setting up dodgy practices for you to take the flak while they disappear and don’t answer there phone

Nice company to work for, but sadly no job security.  Managers here are so far up the owners backside they feel they are untouchable.  If you are a woman here i feel for you. Witnessed a number of times a senior Manager treat woman like rubbish. One Manager wouldn't or couldn't even make his own drink. Get the girls to do it. Pathetic to be honest. But with the amount of people being laid off, get use to making your own drink.

I really enjoyed working at this company and had a good relationship with the director.

I had opportunities to develop my skills by e.g. visiting various types of construction activities e.g. schools, business village, retail shop, which was different to my background knowledge of residential construction developments.

The one thing I liked the most about working at Carter was that the managers were very good at their job but they weren't arrogant and didn't look down at you. They asked you to do things with manners and never expected you to go out of your job role to do what they want. Overall it was a great place to work and would recommend the company to anyone

The staff and management are exceptionally supportive at R G Carter. Since starting with the company in 2020 as a receptionist, I have been given opportunities to progress my knowledge and also my career. The office has a positive environment and I always feel happy at work. 

Good old school. Moto is " if it is not broken- do not fix it". Buying all their own plant and equipment. 
Depends on the site team, or who you are working with. They kept the majority of their staff on furlough, instead of getting rid of them. Fair enough firm.
