My working day generally varies from one day to the next, working closely with managers and colleagues, I'm exposed to a number of good challenges and opportunities.  

Since joining, the organisation has invested in the training and development of its people, internally and externally.  

The culture is largely centred around creativity, producing ideas and providing solutions where appropriate.  Whilst there is a relaxed working environment feel, there's an expectation to meet requirement deliverables and to celebrate success. 

Management are approachable - the CEO often greets you with a friendly smile and 'hello'.

Hardest part of the job role... I'm used to working in a remote team, where everyone has access to everyones' diaries, can be difficult coordinating meet ups in a timely manner and lack of shared cloud based systems.  It'll be good to collaborate more with other functions/key teams. 

Enjoyable part of my role... Working with people, receiving honest feedback and having the bandwidth to explore and advance my career.

I have been an employee at renishaw for years now, it used to be a very good place to work but more recently they've changed thier attitude towards the machinists. This has caused alot of people to suffer with stress and workplace anxiety. The workers are definately undervalued and unappreciated. 
There is an unofficial brownie points system in place which means that the supervision will blame everything that they can on the machinists so that they are not at fault in the eyes of the managers. 
There are some really good managers and one good supervisor, however, the rest of them shouldn't be in thier positions, very old school and love to point the finger without sufficient evidence. No names mentioned....
Avoid the shop floor at Stonehouse. The Wooton site is meant to be good.

At this present moment in my job I am working on new products for Renishaw with the Engineers to perfect the new product for the Sales market.
I rework and find problems that have to be changed to make the product work, using and changing drawings.
I have worked with many different co-workers who work in different fields mainly on the assembly line.  I also train new employees.
The hardest part of the job is getting the product just right, the most enjoyable is when it all comes together.

No training, expects everything ready from new employee. Managers busy, wants the new employee to ask more questions, however the manager never has time. This is perceived as - not asking enough questions. Strange environment with strange people. Unclear what is expected form new employee. No training, no plan forward. If you are not an engineer son or expect career in New Mills site. 

Although working as a kitchen assistant at Renishaw was only a summer job I really enjoyed working there.  All the staff catering and non-catering were really pleasant and friendly. Day to day jobs involved stock checking, aiding the chef in preparing the lunch meals, tidying up and operating the tills.

Don't get me wrong, like all places, the people of more interest and importance to the business are treated better. 

However I've never worked in a place like this, 

one of the best reputations for an employer I've come across, however all factory staff are on 3 month fixed contracts, many employees have been on these contracts for more than 5 years.

I was on a rotation program allowing me to carry out roles for lengths of 6 months in various areas of the manufacturing stream. I had the opportunity to learn a great deal about process improvement (six sigma), people management, and production planning.

I only worked at Renishaw for a week. It was work experience for school. Although I was only there for a brief amount of time, I picked up a good vibe from the work place. There was a lot of energy and could see good things happening. The facilities were very good and I was impressed with way the place was run.

Fantastic company that offers both working life balance and stress free environment. Welcoming management, very helpful and most working members are very forthcoming to help new starters. 

Free tea/coffees 
Small seating area with microwaves and clean fridges to hold/warm food. 

Overall great company. 

I work with in great team of people, some of whom have been at the company for decades, some only a couple of years. It’s a great mix of technically challenging and customer focused work.
