Zero hours contracts are supposed to mean no guaranteed hours, not no hours. Poorly managed, unfulfilling work with no room for advancement, poor pay, long hours, and the gall to pretend like minimum wage with holiday pay included is not minimum wage. Oftentimes the people you call are incredibly rude (for good reason to be fair) and there is no support structure for employees who are stressed or unhappy following unpleasant calls (infact, these are not even mentioned as a possibility). 

Flexibility is one of the few things this work has going for it, but unfortunately, I'm not convinced that's not just part of the poor management. When you give the days and hours that you're free to work (even when they're within the weekly minimum), you will frequently be given new hours and shifts that you are unable to work. The final straw was that none of us have been given work in four weeks. A new project was announced via. email the other day which effectively confirmed that they'd failed to plan for the end of the old project, and hadn't made arrangements for further appointments (political polling project was announced right after the election was called). 

The employee metrics system was also completely broken, and there are also rumours that the CEO sometimes visits and regularly threatens employees he deems to be 'lazy' with firings. Altogether a resolutely disappointing experience, and a workplace that deems itself to have no responsibility to its employees for all the work they do for it.

I've been working for Ronin for about a month, and so far it has been a very good experience.
While working at a call center can sometimes be difficult, especially as sometimes you get rejected or have to speak to difficult people when calling, but that's really the only thing I can complain about. Besides, you do also get to speak to lots of very interesting people when making calls. However, it is true that this is a part-time job and you won't be making millions (even though the hourly pay is pretty good for what you do). And as it is project-based it should not be treated as a full-time job with a yearly salary, but understood for what it is.
The best part of this workplace is management. They work very hard to accommodate everyone's different schedules and needs. Full training is provided at the beginning, and support is available continuously when you are working. They are good-humored, friendly (whatever hierarchies there are, they are definitely not rigid) and genuinely want you to succeed. The management here respects a good work ethic, however - so they do get annoyed if you are slacking and clearly not trying to reach your targets.
The colleagues are also very friendly - as this job requires a lot of communicating, by definition the people who work there are open and approachable. All of this together contributes to a great workplace in my opinion.

The job is easy to start and offers flexibility, which is attractive for students, but there is no job security. The company starts off lenient but then increases demands significantly, and they become dissatisfied for unreasonable reasons. Additionally, their expectations are unrealistic, and there is a constant fear of not getting a shift the following week, especially as management becomes unhappy when people leave for better work. The high turnover rate is a clear indication that this job is not worth the stress. Despite claiming to be student-friendly, the company will pressure workers to work a minimum of three days a week despite being on zero-hours contracts. The manager micromanages staff and criticises them for not meeting unattainable targets. Also, I was taken in for projects in Spanish and hardly ever was given them. The management also favours certain workers and denies shifts and benefits to those who are not favourites. The only positive aspect is the hourly pay, but it is not worth the mental strain. It is advisable not to work for this company. 

Although on the surface a very inviting job for students with its flexibility and relaxed workplace, don't get too comfortable. There is no job security, and if you have one bad day, where it is not your fault that people are not responding to your surveys, you will get blacklisted. That is why they are constantly on Indeed. 

Constantly hounded with messages to change your tone of voice, and pressure you into meeting quotas that are basically impossible to fulfill when no one wants to do a survey. Plus, even if you have to listen to a long switchboard to get through to someone, you will get penalised for taking too long on a call???

Good money but not worth the stress of thinking if you are going to get shifts the following week. But I guess they will hire anyone if you need cash quick. 

I was told that for the position I applied to that there would be loads of jobs and I know people who are getting these shifts. However, only because I struggled for a day I have now been blacklisted from booking shifts. I have ADHD and the day I was struggling, I did not receive any support from my manager who instead of being compassionate & asked me to better support me, told me that other colleagues are doing the same task as I am so there is no excuse. It’s only when I pointed out that it’s only due luck that I am received dead ends with my tasks and there’s nothing I could do about that apart from keeping on trying. After that day, I received no more shifts despite the fact I know people are going in and they have loads of shift spaces available. 

A toxic environment to work in. One of my supervisors was rude and very insistent on having things done his way. Was told multiple times to not use my name and use different and more 'common' names on call which I found highly offensive. They are also unnappreciative of your efforts and the work you put in. As someone who regularly secured interviews and occasionally went above and beyond, I was told off the moment I had a dip in numbers as if it was a cause for concern when there were others who were far less productive. Eventually they just chose to not give me shifts anymore as they wanted more 'productive' workers after all i've done for them. Avoid for the sake of your mental wellbeing. 

A simple role with training provided. You are occasionally given feedback on quality of your telephone interviews (based on recordings) for suggested improvements. You are given a script to follow for consistency, accuracy, reducing bias etc. Casual dress. Right next to canal, nice for stretching legs during breaks. For a standard length shift it's 30 mins unpaid lunch break and 2 x 15 minute paid breaks (you cannot take any of them within an hour of each other, nor during first or last hour of the shift). Starting hours vary depending on the project and time-zone of the sample. Zero hour contract - good for varied lifestyle/commitments, students, earning money during career change, etc. 

Firstly, the management is a joke. They have a manager  (A German woman) that has absolutely no clue about how to get good sample for good interviewers and then you have the supervisors that hire pretty women with no experience and somehow they expect to get the projects finished. What a joke they are, a mickey mouse firm that is losing money and have bitten off more than they can chew for sure. All the good interviewers have there is only couple left and they won't be staying long. Excrement pay with no bonuses because the management spend it down the pub every Friday fact. Less than minimum wage. Less than zero should be their rating and that's an understatement.

Started as a foreign language interviewer and was promoted to supervisory role and then moved to the management team, so bound to be positive about the place.

Great work culture. Lots of different nationalities on board at all levels of the company. Everyone was fair, open and would be given the benefit of the doubt in case of issues along the way.

Pay was better than most direct competitors and in the case of interviewers, the best ones (both in terms of productivity and quality of phone interviews) would get priority over shifts meaning we had a stable team of people.

And socialising at Friday drinks was an awesome to way to welcome the new guys.

This company will not look after your best interests, they say they are uni student friendly but will harass you to work a minimum of three days a week despite it being zero hours. The manager watches your every move and you will get told off if your call rate isn't high enough despite the calls being impossible to obtain. The management have favourites and if you aren't one of them you won't get shifts or the benefits of just wondering around during work hours like their favourites get too. The only perk is the pay per hour but I don't think that is worth the mental stress it takes on you. Do not work here.
