A typical day would involve checking an electronic worktray to establish the type of work and targets for the day this may involve the checking, processing and querying of claims from benefit clientele also government listings for checking or comparison and any other work allocated by central management. All would involve the use of the government's I.T. packages and the Local Authority's own in house I.T. packages and I would expect to produce at least 15 or more query letters and make several phone calls each day, excluding liaison with colleagues as necessary.

I learned a great deal about the administration of the benefits system which also allowed for the detection and reporting of benefits fraud. Dealing with specialist claims also allowed for an insight into the Student culture of loans and grants within the system as did work on the council tax side of the business. I was also trained on an ongoing basis in the new legislation which was filtered down from government and in all aspects of I.T. applications to achieve E.C.D.L. and to use the many systems required to do the job.

My immediate management team were supportive, helpful and encouraging in all matters and I had a very good rapport with my team's personal manager. I worked closely with colleagues both in my own field of work and in other sectors e.g. Fraud, Audit, Document Services in order to get the job done. I feel that we had a really good team who would help each other as needed as the work could be of a complex nature.

The hardest part of the job could be meeting targets when dealing with complex claims or work but overall the job was so varied that it was enjoyable and gave a sense of satisfaction when complicated cases were solved.

My everyday role was to provide activities and experiences for children aging from 6months to 5 years. The activities were to be based upon a child’s interest and must be child lead. The children in my care were of various abilities and therefore each activity had to be altered to suit each child. I assisted the children during each meal and interacted with them in their play throughout the day. I also filled in observations of the children playing or doing activities, these observations would then link into the planning to continue doing activities based around the children’s interests. I also dealt with first aid such as administering cold compresses, filling in forms and notifying parents. Part of my role was to be aware of the medicine policy and fill in all appropriate forms and administer when needed. At the start of each day and the end of the night I would also talk to the parents, discuss any issues regarding their child (e.g., not feeling well) and would pass on any information to those who require it (e.g. Manager/room leader)
I feel like I learnt alot from some of the team members and got along with them well.

• I also sign posted people to other service that might help them benefit from
• I work on the mobile information centre for the council on this I would undertake any enquire people came on the bus for I would all give them information leaflet they needed to other service we would promote.
• I also check address for people also order new recycle bins for them.
• The other thing I did was place bids on property for people that were registered for Salford home search.
• I would also sign post people to meeting in the main reception and also sign post people by I cam as well.
• I also book people e-benefit appointment as well.

Worked for Salford council for 10 years. The way they treat there staff and the way they are allowed to get away with this is totally unacceptable. 
Stoneage management trying to contain and bully staff in an intimidating fashion whilst keeping it in house at turnpike away from other departments. Incompetent also, I was on the receiving end of some really poor descisons. To sum it up it's run by old fashioned style supervisors and managers with 1 task, cost cutting and whilst they focus on people to target it Justifys there own worth in a run down , poorly run part of Salford council. 
Stoneage , barbaric and with no respect shown to staff it's not a future I would wish for anybody,
Please carefully consider your options before working in a bullying type environment.

Seeing the progress from students and being able to play a key part in that made the job entirely worthwhile. HOWEVER, the pay was massively disproportionate to the level of effort and out of hours work required to be able to facilitate these moments of progression. 

Management showed little sympathy towards teachers and 3s, and were quick to remove staff from classes in order to balance out the staffing issues school wide, with little additional support given to remaining classroom staff. This eventually inevitably leads to burnout, which I experienced once myself, but witnessed in colleagues from the bottom up to teacher-level. 

If you can cope with unjustifiably low pay, working with children with additional needs will be a pleasure, the good days massively eclipse any tricky days. 

I enjoyed working outside, even in bad weather, I met new people every day. A typical day would involve driving to the job, emptying litter bins and cleaning bus stops, also litter picking where needed.

I learned about friendship with work colleagues, we all supported each other, most were union members.

Management left us to do the job but would come out to inspect the work.

My driver and I enjoyed a good working relationship and still keep in touch with each other.

There was no real hardship to the job, it was a matter of using commonsense and making sure the work was completed.

The most enjoyable part of the job was receiving thanks from the public for what they considered was a job well done.

No two days are the same. The variety of work and the different challenges faced by individual pupils will always keeps me on my toes. There's always plenty of opportunities to use your creative talents.
I have learned how to be patient, understanding and gained  an awareness of the challenges that some children face on a daily basis both in school and their home environment.
The management are very supportive in every aspect of CPD and work life balance.
The work is both challenging and rewarding, especially when you see a child achieve their goals or you have helped to develop their self confidence enabling them to move forward.

Unfortunately SCC has employed new Heads of Services who believe in a dictatorial style of management. Previously staff were engaged and consulted, that is no longer the case. 
Customers are being forced down the digital route however not all customers are digitally savvy. 
Job satisfaction is now extremely low and work life balance is very low down the list. 
The culture for development is very old council in that if you are a yes person you’ll progress, however if not, your role will be questioned in the organisation. It’s who you know not what you know.

During my time at this job, I felt very much a part of the work team and the environment was friendly all while keeping a professional manner. The job was straight forward and even though it was fairly easy to grasp, I was coached by my supervisor and my peers. I was never forced to stay for overtime or to do extra shifts if I couldn't fill the positions. The management is very good. They are willing to answer any questions you have about whether it be the job, wages etc. 

All in all, a very good place of work.

I learned on working with a person with a higher position on me, how to work with people around me and looking forward to learn on data base and data entry.
The management is good , co-workers are very friendly and supportive.
The hardest part of the time if there are documents need to finished on a limited time.
Enjoyable part of the job is when my hands played the key board quicker.
