Lowest pay rates of all security industry companies. Hence the huge turnover of  vacancies. Some of which as seen here advertising vacancies for 0.01P above the minimum wage. 

Zero effort made towards training guards or keeping in line with security industry procedures or health and safety protocol. No updating of procedures.

The safety of guards compromised daily,
Staff are an oversite to the greed expressed by management. Handling of client income and demands by them are far more important to them than the guards representing the company, who receive only a small fraction of the high charges made to the client for the guards.

Security of guards themselves not an after thought once they are dumped into a role which is all their focus begins and ends with, filling constantly emptying spaces within the work force. Which should be referred to as a stark warning.  

Guards pay constantly an issue, you work but do not expect your pay to reflect that. Constant errors require constant calls till you are paid correctly. Nightmare to arrange holidays. Unexperienced guards "will" be taken advantage of and guards holidays lost through the management team amd supervisor inability to find cover.

Supervisors and managers do not call check on lone staff left in premises on day shift let alone those left to protect staff, building and possesions on night shifts. It really doesnt bare thinking about if a serious incident were to happen. 

The well being of guards is not a focus by supervisors or management at all. In an "actual emergency situation " supervisors and management do not think it is vital for the emergency services to be called. Instead they think distribution of images taken of a serious incident and the data shared of an emergency  situation involving the serious health of a guard, passed between client staff and visitors to be a better choice of their time. It also shows the obvious lack of care taken by all in this disgusting incident. 

No port of call or support for gaurds. It is a mission impossible trying to reach any supervisors or site managers in normal circumstances let alone emergency cases. Unless another phone with no caller id is used and only then do they answer the phone. 

Management at highest level have delusions of grandeur and extremely short memories. Being put into management roles to protect staff and safe guard their interests, however the person given the role within management had failed those same duties at another company.

Inadequate and reprehensible attitudes of supervisors are an unnecessary burden on guards.  Their unprofessional approach does not help the company in any way and is the root cause of the problems faced by management. Supervisors rude and demanding manner towards guards, and the disregard for the family life, unless it is of course their own is evident daily. 

Supervisor inability to understand that working hours means just that, and should be the focus taken by them towards their current staff during their working hours instead of holding 45 minute telephone conversations with former guards to the company, puts into perspective why the guards cannot reach them for support.

Supervisors disregarding attitudes of guards also copies over to the attitudes towards their management superiors. Failing a promotion interview and taking to insulting and berating the management team to guards, as well as  clients showed a distasteful behaviour and a mirror into the less than professional attitude taken as a whole by the supervisors, which they should heed as a sign of why they did not attain that promotion. It should also serve as a warning light to guards wishing to join securitas that supervisors who will and do insult their own superiors will undoubtabley insult those whom are not within the management and supervisors team.

For  anyone wishing to join this amateur outfit that passes itself off as a professional company through fakery and underhanded tactics. My advice is run for the hills. Dont subject yourself to these truly ugly and incapable morons who cannot be trusted with anything, let alone anyone. 

To the ceo of securitas. Spend more time out of the boardroom and more time shadowing your management and supervisors on duty. It would open your eyes to the real reason why you lose staff at an unbelievable rate and the contracts with clients too.

A typical day at working Camden town  is get to work on time in the early hours at 0645 arrive on site and book on from the store phone and call communication centre with the personal identification number, and also give myself plenty of time be visible uniformed and well groomed and smart before starting my shift for 0700,patrol on shop-floor wait for the store to be opened and start greeting customers and staff when seen entering the the store,during time of the shift helping customers when approached giving first class customer service as also detecting theft,deterring or to the last result of apprehension,  following the procedure and and company policy while making an arrest dealing with ant-social behaviour writing incidents on the log book,calling the police when needed in a case of emergencies,keeping a record of the value of theft or damaged goods of stock, working in a team 2 to 3 , monitoring  CCTV communicating through the wireless radios to colleagues ,defusing any situation when approached by customers or store members.

I like to learn new things everyday i value each  individual as i would like to be treated.In this roll i face numerous challenge by the public what i learned is the strongest key factor is communication skill as when i first started talking in every matter that use to be my weakness as i use hesitate to speak when needed i use to be scared  and few times i tried to avoid hard arguments and  situations but it ended up no where. now with time and experience i built my confident  and turned my weakness into strength which is why i love communicating with everyone which allows me to defuse any matter or situation.  

At this friendly environment i like to have a good relation with the management team i also update with the any incidents that arises i always sharing my ideas  thoughts  and knowledge how we can improve services.

Co-workers are always there to guide me and help and support each other we love the team work  and we enjoy working together and complete any tasks that comes we some times cover shifts when we don't get a days off, so one of the best thing about being at work is my team.

The hardest bit of my job is when dealing with crime incidents such as apprehending drunk/drugged and violent people i feel my life is at risk but i try my best keep them calm as some situation cant be avoided.

The most enjoyable part of my job is when when i put a stop to a crime that is when dealing with police incident as numerous account of theft by the same male or female which allows me to investigate such as writing incident report with crime reference number printing there photo images burn discs of all the account of thefts and when they enter the store just detain them in the detention room till the police arrive to arrest them. I feel happy as my investigation was a successful and i completed a bonus task.

Dear everyone whom maybe reading this,

I joined Securitas as a STAR which means security receptionist.

I had the most worst experience ever, once I joined I was promised on my start date a 40 hour contract, 4 months later after constantly chasing for this and being moved around from different site to site as a cover body to fulfil contract needs,  I received a zero hours contract.

My experience as a STAR: I was racially abused and staff made homophobic comments which went no where with HR which was extremely distressing. Management: there was only one very very good  operations-support manager who would support me and have my back no matter what (names shall not be mentioned) unfortunately she had been assigned to another division and another incompetent STAR had been promoted by the protective services branch manager only due to the person gaining enough brownie points and them being  “best friends” he instantly got the job :) also not to mention the protective services branch manager who covers the whole UK she is okay at times however when you email and or text her you will be seen as a “burden” same with the new operations support every time you email or contact them they just see you as a burden and nothing more.


Other STARS experience: STARS that I encountered would often moan they are on a zero hours contract for almost 1 year and keep getting promised a permanent contract these STARS would often be moaning about management being non supportive they would also complain about pay rates being very bad and how other staff treat them, new STARS that join and have no SIA licence would still be allowed to work for some reason (yes even without the LDN number which is a legal requirement) even though Securitas pay for after a few months for the  sia course and licence they would allow you work, there is a huge staff turnover at this division STARS are joining and leaving due to being messed around all the time by management.


To summarise, if you are thinking about joining I would highly recommend that you don’t unless you are extremely desperate for income (not much hours available anyway) I would avoid this department and try and join a proper Securitas division such as retail or cooperate or finance or residential.

good company to work for if you like being being kept busy, vans are new so always nice to drive, PDAs constantly being upgraded to keep up with the world, great communication between you and the team you work with, 

job can be stressful at times, loads of work piled on, normally runs smooth however in recent times the staff turnover has be crazy, there are many factors for this, one being wages others being asked to work crazy amounts of hours when short staffed, being asked to pay for your security licence renewal when all other company's usually pay for that you if you work for them, extra work added on all the time, no appreciation of the work you do, very little or no chance of promotion, 

we attend alarms, key holding, lockups, patrols and escorts on a daily typical shift, some paper work involved, there is times you have to work along side the fire brigade and police when needed, sometimes there is  break ins that need to be attended, work with others in your team or on your own, 

now granted its job security if you work for it, there's time where your shift will run smoothly and you can have a good break in between, then other times you don't get to stop,i guess you take the good with the bad,

pros: you get a comfy vehicle to drive, always paid on time, plenty of work on your days off in other parts of the company, free uniform, great comms team, closely knitted team, job security, great way to get your driving experience up, get to go to fun and exciting places, mostly work on your own and part of a team.

cons: work can be repetitive, managers can be hard to contact sometimes, very little chance of promotion, lowest paid job even though your made to believe your job is specialised, very little appreciation of hard work put in, very little training for new skills offered.

apart from what i have said this is my personal view and don't let me deter you from apply for any job with Securitas, they are busy company and have plenty of work, this is just one persons view, they are large company and growing, this is just what i have experienced working for them, this may be a completely different view from other people working with them,

if you need a job then by all means apply for one don't let my review deter you

So I let this company know from day 1 that I had a disability which unfortunately puts me out of action some times, "not a problem" they said. It came to a point where I needed an operation and had to take a month off to recover, that apparently makes me a problem with poor attendance! Won't go into the ins and outs but maybe securitas need to have a read of the equality act. Now for the contract I was on, well I made a couple of good friends with my colleagues but others seem a bit two faced so be careful what you say. Basically you are not a security officer you are a well dressed labourer for the centre management to get you to do whatever odd jobs they like. They've ran out of a4 paper and water so that's a job for "security" to fetch them some more, they want some benches and plant pots moved so that's another job for "security". Theres a theft from a shop or an aggressive person in the centre, don't go rushing to it as you'll be told off for running in the centre by management! Dont walk in pairs as again you'll get told off like a naughty school kid, basically you become a "yes sir no sir" kind of person and walk around like a drone for a 12 hour shift. Throw some pointless safety checks on top of these other exciting duties too, same checks every day, week and month where you'll be reporting the same problems as they never get rectified because its behind the scenes where the shoppers can't see it, even if it is a complete safety issue like fire doors not securing so anyone can stroll into the centre at whatever time they like. Oh and look forward to a nice weekend of standing in the car parks pressing  for tickets if its busy, because this apparently speeds up getting customers in so they dont create traffic jams on the road and the centre gets a bad image, whereas in reality the centre can't be bothered to upgrade there parking to accommodate the increased number of customers. All this work pleasing management for a whopping £8.80 an hour!! You can look forward to an early retirement on that kind of money.....

I was employed here because the company seemed pretty desperate to staff the site and put me through an SIA course. I was actually pretty excited to work here. I had contracted hours and worked in a pretty lucrative site in my first ever security job.

The job in itself was mostly administrative which disappointed me a little, with no real taskings to undertake outside of the office based work or patrols. It felt like being a mobile receptionist rather than providing a security capability to a high profile site. The duties weren’t unbearable however. A majority of the other security staff unfortunately were lazy and had created a pretty toxic work environment of cover ups and blames that continued well after my employment. Management was overbearing and untrusting often involving themselves in workplace toxicity. My manager in particular created more issues than he solved.

Night shifts were a real sanctuary for me, the permanent night team supervisor was a cool guy and I preferred the work, consisting of more patrols and incident response.

The pay rate wasn’t too bad for a lower level security job and overtime was often available. Getting annual leave was a bit of a nightmare and the procedure behind it is just silly and unreasonable.

They can fund your learning which is good, Securitas have the ability to pay for your SIA training and Accreditation, alongside internal opportunities to develop skills and qualifications such their Emergency Fire Contingency and Aviation Security roles. You just have to have a decent manager to put you through it, which from what I can gather can be difficult to find.

I joined Securitas as an Aviation Security Agent in 2018 and was made well aware of the need for weekend working and some unsociable hours. Some months later I realised that the weekend working seemed perpetual and the unsociable hours left me (and others) very fatigued. Hourly rate of pay just over £8.30 and expected to arrive at work any time between 2:00am and 5:30am, leaving work at times close to midnight. The management were 'distant' even though they occupied the same room, mostly contacting staff by email even when they were working literally yards away? The introduction to the workplace and ongoing training was 'adhoc' at times and left new starters a little alienated and bewildered. Overall I feel that the wages were disgusting given the responsibility, repetitive testing and monitoring required. They paid no additional pay for unsociable hours or weekends apart from one off's or when staff complained at busy periods. I have scored Securitas 3 stars but this score would be lower if not for the colleagues that I worked with, the fun atmosphere and the daily banter. I will miss the people I worked with but in the end the extremely early starts, late finishes and low rate of pay left me with little option but to move on. Historically they have a very high turnover of staff and I personally saw quite a number of people leave during my 10 months of employment with them. This will continue in my opinion until Securitas wake up, give staff more respect and value their contributions by way of a fair payrise. Unless you enjoy working for a low hourly rate of pay, being  constantly tested and giving up your social life then I would avoid this company at all costs.

Salary appears ok on the face of it. Once embedded it becomes very clear every one is completing the roles of at least 2 to 3 people. This makes the salary feel like a pittance.

In operational management roles expect to be available on call 24/7 at the very least 1 week in 3, where you will be disturbed every night and weekend to the point where personal life becomes non existent and work takes over everything. Despite this task not being contractual AND unpaid you will be disciplined for missing a call in your free time.

Toxic culture from the top down, which manifests itself in complete silence from the management team and a fear of raising issues. As a result the whole management cohort are frightened of making and taking decisions and any decision making is deferred upwards. This renders the business paralysed, impotent and devoid of any meaningful or intelligent input. 

Redundancy processes and restructures are run at the very least annually but depending on department you will be placed at risk, bi annually as a bare minimum.

You will be expected to consistently take on more and more work covering sickness and leavers to save the company money until of course you burn out yourself and then at that point you will be replaced.

No one person ever succeeds in their role because no one person ever gets to experience and flourish only in their role. Expect to achieve no more than 75% of your role and fully expect to be chastised (not praised for the 75% you do achieve) daily for the 25% you don’t achieve.

In short, avoid unless you are absolutely desperate for a job. 





My current place of work is perhaps the best working atmosphere I've experienced since leaving the RAF.  Everyone is happy with what they are doing and we do feel that we make a genuine contribution to the greater good of our client company.  We are inundated with requests for footage downloads and assistance with shop staff in resolving problems with their alarm systems, often requiring resets.  We are also the facilitator for out of hours maintenance call outs and the first point of call for coordinating response to Break-ins either at shops or unmanned Technical sites.  All of this made for each shift to be very productive mixed with a light-hearted working atmosphere.  Furthermore, overtime was plentifully available. My co-workers were similarly committed, perhaps the sense of actually playing a part helped with that.  Management varied, at local level our immediate ope manager kept us informed as best he could and while temperimental at times, could resolve just about any issue, above him, a great deal of secrecy which led to the constant uncertainty about our own future and, naturally, to many negative ill-informed rumours, this was the most difficult part about the job.  What I learned?  Keep your own council, that you are your own best friend ultimately, the company will do what they feel is best to minimize outgoing regardless of personal impact.

I've worked for them for ad least 6/7 years now and have for the most part enjoyed my time, I've been very lucky to work with great teams achieving a lot and gaining fantastic working relationships with both customers and work colleagues alike. as with every job there have been tough times some mistakes have been made but happily nothing that largely effected me, sadly progression within Securitas is small within my area of work. I was a lot younger when starting out and still am hungry to both learn and grow within the Industry but as stated this seems difficult on this side of the company. as a family man this job isn't a good move but now I'm no longer in this situation this Industry is some what perfect as I can and o work as many hours possible. pay is what it is everyone wants more but I've learnt that if your spending more than you earn your never going to survive let alone keep a happy work/life balance and never earn enough. Management? I've meet a few, some good,some not so much but I try and keep my distance and them pleased with my work in order to simply keep my job and a happy working life. working life as with a lot can suck, but also you can enjoy the small things and laugh at the bad times with a good team you can do both, I have a good team with me at my current location a day in the life there is a busy one with a lot to contend with but once in the flow you can do anything.
