Company expect a world beater and results from the off whilst paying peanuts and asking for extra hours with no return
Everything is about penny pinching here. They have tried to run before they can walk and will promise you the world at interview and when you start but very quickly you will hate the place and realise the fake culture.
Management can’t make their mind up what they want and some are very irrational and can’t make their mind up. 
Certain leaders are very abrupt and don’t speak to you properly and will throw you under the bus. 
They will use any excuse to terminate anyone at probation stage to save a few quid. But will sacrifice having competent staff to operate plant equipment when required. 
Micro management is a common theme here with every little thing you do getting questioned and will rely on paper sheets throughout your shift and will pull you up for minor mistakes and make a big thing about it. 
Agency staff get messed about, employees also. 
Don’t seem to fill vacant roles within budgeted headcount and will then expect what personnel left to absorb the workload. 
No sick pay at all no matter on length of service when you are working with clinical waste. 

To get hired by Sharpsmart is extremely easy as the turn around for the company is distressingly high, although that doesn't bother management one bit. So once you are working for the company, expect to have no type of induction. Completely zero organisation, if you do not organise yourself, expect to be messed about on a daily basis by management. Working conditions are poor, dirty depot, no proper car park, dirty lorries, dirty work. Too many lorries and extremely small car park, not enough for all the employees cars and work vehicles. You will be lucky to leave on time for your route, as more than likely  lorry will not be loaded. The company will do anything they can to not pay you your overtime, although you worked extra on a daily basis. Management do not care about you as you are just a number and can be replaced by agency drivers instantly. Company take many shortcuts and are extremely non compliant but what can you expect when  senior managers have no experience as drivers. In essence, this is the worst company I have ever worked for.  

The hardest part about this job is the management, they haven’t got a clue.  There known as yes management, don’t really care about the staff and don’t really have a clue what’s going on. The main manager finishes early most days and still gets full pay where everyone else has to do there hours. Allot of double standards in the company. HR at some point will pay you wrong and there response is (no matter how much money it is) you’ll have to wait till next pay (monthly). Pay is pretty poor for the work, warehouse workers who deal with used needles/blood/dead bodies are on minimum wage for example. Drivers get taken advantage of and have no support on the days or nights. Expected to use your personal phone for all business requirements but office staff get a brand new iPhone every year. Always talking about saving money but money is just wasted on things like new bathrooms/iphones. Paying travelling staff hotels when they live less than an hour away from site. Needs a whole restructure. You’re also threatened that there isn’t enough work so you will be placed on leave unpaid (also in your contract). If you do have an emergency good look contacting anyone. 

The level of communication throughout the recruitment and onboarding process gave me confidence that Sharpsmart really care about finding the right people to join the team.  Since joining a few months ago, the company has continued to meet and exceed my expectations. Everyone I've encountered has been really welcoming and helpful, starting with an induction process in the first few weeks to get to know the people and processes around the business (so far as you can during COVID/lockdown). There's been the opportunity to shape/make the role my own. They genuinely welcome new ideas so they can improve and grow the business.  The role is fast-paced, demanding and varied, but also rewarding as it feel like I am making an active contribution to the company and customers.  Everyone across the business has been especially busy recently providing services to our healthcare customers but from what I have seen there's a real team effort to get the job done whilst keeping a relaxed and supportive working environment.  So far so good.

As a driver u are expected to do everything from cover every one else's work by organising runs on a morning at 4.00am (No management in at this time) because people not turning then unloading and loading nights work for you're day to start u get to the collection u have to tag bins do the yard man's work by organising all the bins get back to the yard offload then find out their are no empty bins so have to help the warehouse for bins for another run if u brake down u have to call brake down yourself for recovery or a fix management have not been trained in ADR so have been known to try run u bent they will try and put u on other contacts saying every one has to do things for the company in reason which may be picking contaminated waste up out of bins to put in the back of a van to going to the tip in Manchester in the rcv weekend work no management in at all and warehouse do not like u leaving early so will tell management the time u have gone and cry about it

Bad management
No leadership skill sets.
A tinch of racism ( by behaviour)
No health and safety awareness.
After 7 months working here,i can only say that there are a handfull of people that are actualy keeping the company in a minimum level of shape.
Rainham plant management doesn't value people at all.


What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Management always overburdens workers.
No recognition, no leadership support.


What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
STRESSFULL AND NON-HYGIENIC ENVIRONMENT, DUE TO LACK OF LEADERSHIP SUPPORT AND SKILLS.
The company culture circles around "numbers".
Irresponsability at it's best.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Every day is a stress waiting to happen.

The management don’t have clue they really don’t half of the time they wing it go round insulting the people who work there behind there backs you only get any overtime or looked after if your Romanian the money is good for team leader but not worth the hassle as your left alone on weekends even tho you ain’t qualified to be operating the boiler no communication what so ever so if your shift starts on a weekend you don’t know what your walking into everyone talks about each other behind there backs except a handle full of drivers who are spot on in there and the two guys that was on my team I really would avoid working here

During my years working at Sharpsmart the business has grown massively, but the ethos has stayed the same throughout, with a really strong team in all elements of the business working to support each other regardless of the department or position they work in.

The Management Team have driven the company to bring new and innovative products and solutions to the UK market, whilst ensuring the whole team have a clear understanding of the key goals and core values of the company. 

We have an solid work life balance, and as the global business is still a family run business, there is a great deal of support from the company management team when life gets in the way.

dirty depot, inadequate car parking, and unhygienic vehicles.no organisation of stock. its left for you to  sort out after being out all day.route planning is atrocious.drivers getting overworked and made to come back with vehicles over weight.transport logistics is disorganised.the use of a hand held device is required for this position but is outdated and disorganised and has serious issues everyday. A 45hr week contract so 9 hour a day.most places give 40hrs so your giving them 5hrs extra at single rate.overtime is only paid after 45 hrs are completed and it's always paid wrong so you have to wait until next pay day to try and sort it.its a cat and mouse scenario.

If you want to be lied to from day 1 then you will enjoy working here even HR ignore your emails, the company is toxic from the top to the bottom I don't think that the owner knows what goes on in the UK as they have the usual blocking systems in place. There are no health and safety systems in place in fact at the Normanton plant you could easily break your ankle in the uncovered drains all across the loading bays. The management dont care even when you point out any problems they just fob you off. They are happy to tell you what they think you want to hear but don't really care as long as the work gets done. Very toxic environment to work in. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED
