What is the best part of working at the company?
Teaching beginners a new sport that is fun and exciting along with personal access to the slope in spare time is probably the highlight of working at SnoZone

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Last minute changes to the days activities to accommodate the favourites in the team. You might be booked on to instruct a group of adults but then you get changed to a harder lesson only to find that another instructor whom never teaches children is doing the fun lesson with adults instead of you. This just shows favouritism within the team.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
There is a very very high turnover of managers within SnoZone, there is a culture of do as I say or leave, lots of unhappy instructors due to internal politics. It’s a shame as it could be a really good workplace if the senior management listened to the junior team and didn’t show favouritism.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
The day or two before you check the lesson plan online, then the day before and then arrive only to find the lesson plans have been changed. This does mess with your head and is often a cause for complaints from the instructor’s. 

Come in, clock in, gather the information for the lessons for the day and then you are left pretty much to your own discretion on the lessons. 

You might be lucky to get a short comfort break between lessons but it’s always a rush, especially in winter.

Lunches aren’t paid and are usually an hour long.

The days can be long as you might be asked to cover another instructor as they call in sick or don’t arrive as their plans were changed by managers without informing the instructor!

At the end of the day there isn’t any debriefs from managers and that’s fine for the most part.

I started only a few months ago. Yet have been let go, for being quiet and not loud and bubbly enough. I loved working in Reception but the Cafe is a hard place to work. Which nobody enjoys. It's a very clicky place. If you don't fit in then good luck. The people were nice enough, but only to say hi and bye too. I was never given any support to improve or anyone telling me where I went wrong or what I could've done better. They expect you to know everything and be confident quickly. Which just isn't the case for most people. Managers are nice enough, but the main manager of the place is awful. He's rude about hair colour, piercings and tattoos. It's an alright place to work if you don't plan to be around long or only working a day or two a week. But if you plan to be here for a few months or longer, I wouldn't waste your time. AVOID! 
I came into work everyday and tried my hardest. I made mistakes as everyone does when they are getting used to a new job but I was never supported or helped. I was just shown up by colleagues in front of customers which was embarrassing most of the time. The communication between managers and members of staff is appalling. They expect you to know when an event is going on even when you've not been told and then they are rude and abrupt with you for not knowing or getting all the information correct when customers ask.  
I left my old job for this place, thinking it'll be better. But I was very wrong! Please avoid this place. 

It is clear from working at Snozone that the only reason it is successful is because it is one of the few places in the UK with real snow. Management do not care about their employees, showing a blatant disregard for their time (consistently scheduling three hour shifts yet still piling on overtime, colleagues working 7 days in a row as a result of requesting the weekend off). If you want a healthy work/life balance you will not find it here.

The pay does not reflect the skills or the effort required to fulfil the role. Management do not care to resolve problems, instead allowing such issues to build up before serving notice to employees. They show a blatant disregard for their brand values, their people and anything other than their profits.

The only saving grace is the great coach and rental staff you will be working with.

Found poorly managed staff,made to move between areas of work when short staffed or over booked,
Some customers absolutely awful to staff and management were not bothered 
Any customer complaints were acknowledged with freebies,the DGM has awful interpersonal skills and if you stand your ground you are sent to Coventry until you leave,Brand standard is a joke
My line manager was weak and was used by higher management 
That was a shame as he was an ok person
There was never any team work as certain departments felt they were above others shame as when workload was heavy just 5 mins of their time would be a massive help.
Again something never dear with by higher management.
Overall if you enjoy snow sport then this would suit you as a job however any thought of advancement is a mere pipe dream
Finally the site at mk is old ,tired and needs a massive cash inject

This company is the worst, 17 days after pay day and they still haven't paid me, said my proof was fake, didn't give hours to even afford getting to work and back let alone paying rent/bills ect...

Management are arrogant and up there own backside, ignoring contact from staff to avoid paying owed wages out, forced missing lunch with no pay, management don't listen to any of the staff at all, stated times that could start and finish in between, promised to keep to that so I wouldn't have to walk 2 hours each way but still disregarded that made me walk 2 hours home at 2am, refused to follow duty of care, refuse to pay on time and don't even pay correctly when paid, this company is a joke and I would beg people not to work there, give any money to the company or anything like that.... Absolute joke of a place

Not been told what's happening by management been left in the dark and not listening to you when you would advise them about potential health and safety problems

The working environment is very toxic when when you have managers that do not understand the workings of the building

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Very awkward to plan anything as you never know who you are going to have working with you they might give you somebody in the morning and then take them away to stop you doing the job in hand

its a really relaxed work place, with some amazing people working there, just like with every other workplace it has its downfalls but the co-workers and the management team are all so amazing, there's never a dull day! you can learn all the different departments and its just like one big happy family! the hardest part of the job is during winter when its at its busiest you get long hours and work hard during, but you chose when you have your break which is good, the most enjoyable part of the job is getting to know everyone staff and customers and you can make some amazing bonds throughout the company. all in all a great place to work!

Working at Snozone is not without it's challenges, but overall if you're willing to put the work in then it is recognised. Alongside the working aspect, you will meet a variety of different people across the workplace/departments who are all key to building a great working atmosphere. You will most likely work multiple areas of the business outside of your role, but dependant on your outlook this can be beneficial to your growth as a person and understanding how different areas all have a part to play in the success of Snozone.

Worked here for many years. Colleagues in different departments are great with an infectious work life culture. However, management try to stamp down on any initiative or forward thinking that doesn't benefit them somehow, no high level decision is ever made solely with the employees in mind. Customers keep coming back though due to the friends they make and the lack of other ski slopes in the region, and this gives management a false sense of security that they're actually doing a great job.

• they expect maximum work with little to no praise which makes people do the bare minimum 
• uniform is not suitable for the amount of time you spend on the slope in the cold conditions
