I would spend my day ensuring students who need reasonable adjustments for exams had all the details of their needs entered onto the system for the SENCO and Learning Support to action. I would deal with queries and complaints about exams over the phone and face to face and print off and either post or give the students their certificates.  Management is ok.  Workplace culture again is ok, The hardest part of the job is the workload which can be heavy, The best part is knowing you’ve been part of helping
students get closer to their dream career.

An experience that has helped shape me and to learn my style.  Teaching is hard, the ratio of face time to marking is out of kilter, if you teach apprentice. There are lots of assessments and marking and nvq.  Good support, most of the time. Working in any government place, at the lower ranks is a hard slog. But if you love it,  you'll persevere. It's a fallacy..... you get all your holiday in the summer. There's always marking to catch up and prep for next term.....I had 2 free weeks out of 6. Really nice atmosphere from staff and students. Facilities are good too. 

Huge amounts of unnecessary paperwork and prehistoric processes. Office politics are over the top. The hardest part of the job is getting tasks done with poor written and verbal communication from certain managers, lack of professional support and a hostile working environment. There is a lot of negativity in this department which gets you down over time.

Other departments in this organisation may be different to work for.

I don't where the budget ends up but none of it is clearly spent on the building. The bathrooms are horrible with many not locking or flushing. There is leak in the roof of canteen. The heating is inconsistent.

Staff support is really bad. Staff are not often given access to information regarding students. We are also under valved. We often have to complete record keeping off thd clock, which often means we don't have time to read information surrounding students.

I very much enjoyed my role at this college which was both challenging and inspirational.  The students I worked with had a variety of learning difficulties for which I was employed to help them overcome and gain the most out of their time at the college.

Due to personal circumstances I have had to relocate and am now seeking a permanent job.

Only looking for sessional staff that are paid and treated poorly, there is no job security and no indication of this changing anytime soon. It is a great place to work for the people you work with and the change you can make for people but other than that, I would steer clear of this place.

i believe that Solihull College is a great place to work. Coming straight from college to an adult environment such as the college i was welcomed into the team immediately by all members and treated fairly.

I dedicated a lot of time and effort to make new connections for the department but no contract of employment was offered.  The management make false promises

It is a good place to work with lovely colleagues. Colleagues truly cares about you and provide you with moral support and resources when starting the job.
