worked for Stafforce at Young's in Annan.

despite being asked to come in for a shift, i was sent to the wrong place and had to ask the reception of the place i was sent to to phone the Job Center (the place that arranged my shift) to find out where i was actually supposed to go - they THEN told me it was at Young's. 

when i finally arrived at Young's,the management was woefully unprepared for me (they had no record of me supposedly having a shift there and made almost no attempt to assist me properly in fixing this problem)

i wasn't given any kind of shift/lunch schedule and was simply thrown into the wet fish department with no explanation of the rules and was left to fend for myself for seven and a half hours.

almost no department management were willing to speak to me whilst on the job, not to mention i wasn't properly introduced to them (the promised buddy system for newbies was also completely non-existent) and almost every worker was either unable to speak English or could, and unwilling to (making communication in the department near impossible)

was told by Job Center that my shift started at 3.00pm - wasn't told what time my shift would end at until near the end of the shift when i was simply told to go home (that was at 10.30pm).

left that night feeling drained and completely unwilling to give them another chance.

i handed in my gate card and never went back.

can not recommend this company.

the worst part of working for staff force was the never knowing if you would get a days work if you turned up. you get up at 4.30 to get to work by 6am. Get changed and go to the factory floor, at about 6.10 you are informed there is no work for you today despite being scheduled to work. You are then sent home without any pay at all. If you get work you can be doing anything from lifting heavy box's of fish to placing/taking packages off a line at about 45 packs a min for up to 4 hours without a break. After working on site for approx a year you will be laid off for a minimum of 6 weeks, this allows staff force (as per company policy) to declare you as a new starter and reduce you wages to starter money sometimes costing you up to 30% of your hourly wage. This despite the fact you are doing the same job you were laid off from. I learned at staff force not to trust anyone. The management are only concerned with how fast they can get the work done and sending you home so they can reduce the wages bill. The entire job is one long grind, no fun, no breaks just 30 mins for lunch in an 8 hr shift and 2x 30 min breaks in a 12 hr shift. barely enough time to leave the factory floor, get changed, get a coffee drink same and return to the factory floor. In the 3 years I worked for staff force I was laid off 3 times to be returned to starters money I vowed I would NEVER work for them again.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Fairly fair to work for. Mind you I did here one of there branches finished an oppretive in the Lincolnshire area for failure to work. The person couldn't work due to receiving injuries at home related to not being paid for a week or two. My sister worked at the hospital the person was treated at the message the person got basically boiled down to your no longer on red shift. I think the person got their money in the end,but have not worked for Stafforce since. Be warned don't cross them & what your wages like hawk 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
I've found them to be okay at the moment, but since finding out what I have about how another colleague was treated in another area, me & my friends are vary wary of them. It would seem one false move & your out. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Again until both myself & friends found out what we did, everything seems fine.
  There's just this shadow hanging over work that I think someone needs to look into. If person has genuinely done wrong they deserve all they get, if how ever they binned off for not getting paid their wages by Stafforce then it's poor form on Stafforces half. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Pretty good varied roles at different sites.

Working for stafforce at the next warehouse was a demanding and challenging job where i worked hard in order to achieve set goals.  Working hours were weekend only and they started at 8:00am. As you arrived you stored away your belongings in a private locker and were admitted to a secure working area. We worked 10 hour shifts which required standing and had three 10 minute breaks and a half hour lunch. Our purpose was to open returns from next, scanning them and logging them onto a system. We inspected the goods and the reasons for their return. I learnt to organise myself and delegate time for specific targets and work to a high standard of detail. I developed social skills by supporting and being supported by my co workers. The hardest part of the job was the physical demand of standing throughout the shift in a cold environment. The most enjoyable part of the shift was working with the variety of different products and scanning them.

Working at Stafforce as a warehouse operative has been a valuable and insightful experience. The role is fast-paced and physically demanding, which keeps each day engaging and helps build endurance and time-management skills. The team environment is supportive, with colleagues who collaborate well and supervisors who provide guidance when needed. Training was thorough, ensuring I understood safety procedures and operational expectations before starting tasks independently. I appreciated the clear communication regarding shift patterns and workload priorities, which helped maintain organisation and efficiency. On the practical side, the job enhanced my ability to work under pressure, improve accuracy in order picking and packing, and meet daily targets consistently. While there are busy periods that require stamina and focus, the sense of achievement at the end of a productive shift is rewarding. Overall, working at Stafforce offered solid hands-on experience in warehouse operations and strengthened essential workplace skills.

A typical day at work included arriving at 5:45am and awaiting to be assigned a particular job. I was often assigned the job of maintaining factory hygeine as it was the job that I  had the most practie in. This job entailed patrolling the factory cleaning up wherever necerssary in my designated area. From this job it is difficult to pin point any learning that took place other than how to perform tasks within the factory. My co-workers were of all ages and all backrounds, therefore there were some that I immediately bonded with and others who I didn't get a chance to talk too. Both factorys in which i workedwere managed well as we often surpassed targets set at the beginning of each shift. The hardest part of the job was undoubtabley getting up at 4am 5 days a week and the most enjoyable part of the job was finishing an hour early on firdays and getting payed. I wouldnt say that I particularly enjoyed my time working in a factory but i found that it was worth the money and therefore I worked well there.

I was employed for the company until the outbreak of the coronavirus, we were not provided with any cleaning material and then was made redundant. It was nothing about my own duties within the company, prior to this,I was given a glowing appraisal. The company did not take advantage of the government-funded 'furlough scheme' They say they are a family when in times of hardship, you are just a number. No industry training is offered, outside of the 3 days company induction, which covers the very basics of what you need to do your job. Every 6 months you have to compile an appraisal, that is quickly read and signed by your line manager, your always told you are a great fit for the company and doing a great job until it suits them and then you are either made redundant or cast aside in a role that is impossible to enjoy elsewhere in the company. The company shouts aloud of being the best company to work for, yet they will not show the results of how this comes to be. Avoid if you strive for any job security.

I work at the Seafood Plant in Annan on the early shift.  It can be cold and standing in one position all the time pains your back, shoulders, neck and legs but......the work is okay and the cameraderie of my colleagues makes up for anything else.  They are a brilliant bunch of people on my shift.  Management both with Stafforce and the Plant are good and approachable. They will help with any issues you may have.  The only downside to agency work is that you are only paid for hours worked, so if you are sick or sent home because of mechanical failure or anything, no pay.  There is also a two week shutdown over the Christmas period and this comes entirely from holiday entitlement which you must have worked to accrue so I had no wages one week of the holidays as I had not been there long enough to accrue enough holidays. You are paid a week in arrears and should be aware of that.  The only other thing is, I have been there since last year and still do not even have a copy of terms and conditions, never mind any kind of contract!!!!!

I went into stuff Force to enquire about a job they had advertised they didn't want to discuss the job with me the girl on reception was very rude and just kept repeating I need to fill out an application to join the Agency online. I was reluctant to do this as I already have a job but was just looking for something new pacifically the job I went in to see them about I'm not interested in them contacting me trying to put me in other placements it seemed that's all she was interested in doing. I also asked the location of the employment they was advertising which she wouldn't give me I only wanted this so I could work out my travelling time I also asked the start finish times so I can work out my childcare which again she didn't want to give me. I've never used a job agency before but have had mixed reports about them from Friends from the experience I received today I think I will stay where I am or look for employment that doesn't involve going through a third party like a job agencies. Very disappointed

As an 18 year old £7.96 per hour is not that bad, that is, if you enjoy being messed around like a robot. No permanent hours available, I was sent home after having no work available for me in the factory despite being formally asked to work that day from the agency, changing my shifts here and there to suit their needs.

If you don’t show up for work they throw the “sack threat” to try take you under their control even more, only positive is the actual work you get to do if you even get to do it. Packing and warehouse work can be fun from time to time especially if you have good people you are working with.

They don’t provide full pay if you are cancelled within less of an hours notice, and claim it’s a “contract clause” despite it being an actual law. If you make a mistake, even if you are new, they come down on you like a ton of bricks, and ave no education on how to handle an employee with a disability.
