When I was approached by a recruiter for the Education Coordinator role I was really excited to interview for Targeted Provision. This excitement continued throughout the interview process as I met lovely people who really seemed to want to listen to my experiences and get to know me well, making sure it was the right career move for me too. I was ecstatic when I got the job.

Since then I have really enjoyed being part of a dedicated, caring and friendly team of people who are all working together behind the scenes to find the best tutors for some of the most vulnerable learners in the country. 

I love the management style - we're trusted on a day-to-day basis to make our own decisions and get on with our own work, without feeling micromanaged. However, if we need help or support it is always readily available. Everyone's voice and opinion is valued and heard, no matter how new you are or what role you're in. Since joining the company I've felt part of many discussions on how we can improve processes and have seen my ideas come to life. I'm also being supported to develop my skills and passions, and we're always encouraged to get involved in other areas of the company that we have an interest in.

The best part about the role is feeling like you're really making a difference to these young people's lives. We're constantly reminded through feedback of the impact that we're having and it's a really heart-warming feeling.

Overall - a great place to work where everyone is kind, goes above and beyond to help one another and is dedicated to improving the lives of young people.


A great company to work for. Targeted provision is very much a people - focused company with Incredibly professional and dedicated support team who each have exceptional communication skills.  In my experience, staff from all areas have been  very dependable and helpful, and the coordination of referrals is very efficient; especially when responses are time sensitive or complex. 

Dependent upon qualifications, skills, experience and training, work can be very varied, which keeps it interesting.  Child focused and restorative learning is at the heart of the provision offered to young people being tutored by Targeted Provision educators, and so knowing that I am trusted to create positive learning experiences with vulnerable and, at times,  hard to reach young people,  is very important to me and I have always felt supported and heard in my role as a tutor. 
Flexible hours and opportunities to create your own work pattern is ideal for my personal circumstances and,  although my job is  challenging, it is incredibly diverse and equally rewarding. 
I feel valued by Targeted Provision and very much part of the “team”. My dedication has certainly been recognized, which is always lovely and even more incentive to stay with the company. Highly recommend. 

My day involves working with young people who are unable to access main stream education for a variety of reasons. Each young person is seen as an individual who deserves a bespoke form of learning to help them to thrive in education at their own pace. This can take place in their home environment or within the school setting for extra support.  I am responsible for planning and delivering the lessons and I love the flexibility to teach at a pace that suits the young person. I learn something new every day both from the young people I work with and their families who just want the best for their children. Targeted Provision are always at the end of the phone or an email to support when needed and as an employee I feel a valued member of this team of professionals who work together to encourage young people to succeed in their own way. The hardest part of the job is saying goodbye to a student who I have worked with but it is also so rewarding to see how much they have progressed and knowing that you have been a part of this journey alongside them. The most enjoyable part is that every day is different with new challenges and rewards and my work life balance is a world away from teaching within a school environment. I am, by far, a happier teacher now and feel that I have found my place within the education system.

A typical day for me starts at 9.30 with my first pupil (teenagers don't tend to get up early!) for 2 hours, then another pupil for 1 - 2 hours and possible another one later. The choice is mine, work offers come in all the time and I can take them on to suit my schedule, working as much or as little as I choose, creating my own timetable. I teach a range of ages and can choose subjects and ages.
I have a much better understanding of the issues that face our young people and how to be supportive and encouraging. 
The management are really supportive, if I have a question or problem I can contact my referral leads who usually reply quickly and are available to talk on the phone if necessary. The safeguarding team are excellent, very supportive and queries and reports are followed up immediately.
The worst part for me is having fewer workmates than being based in an office or school, but there are regular zoom meetings/training sessions and a tutors' group on Facebook.
The most enjoyable is getting to know the young people and seeing them grow in confidence, passing exams or returning to education placements. I'm proud that I have been allowed to work with these young people, it's a privilege.


After a couple of years teaching overseas, I started working for Targeted Provision when I moved back to the UK at the beginning of 2023, and I have been working for them part-time while studying for a Masters. It has been a good fit as the work is flexible, they can work around your schedule, but it could also work as a full time job as I have been offered referrals continuously throughout the year. Working with and building a rapport with some of the most vulnerable children who have experienced multiple traumas can be challenging, but also life changing. Through 1-on-1 tutoring tailored to the child, and support from the admin, I feel like I am able to make a change and an impact in that child’s life so they can learn to self-regulate and start to re-engage with their learning again. Targeted Provision are a child-centered and supportive company, everyone working at this company has been approachable and friendly, they are organised and reply to emails and queries quickly. As well as having the best interests of the pupils at their core, they are also there to check in with the staff’s wellbeing. 

I've been a tutor for four months now and I was expecting the usual from 'agencies'.  However, I couldn't have been more wrong.  From the application, interview and discussion re my first student, I knew they were very very different!  The attention to detail, their knowledge of the pupils and their care for me is outstanding.  Every 3-4 weeks I get a phone call or email to check in on me, and I also have a support specialist allocated to me who I can contact if I have any concerns, queries or need a bit of extra help from.  

Everyone I have spoken to at TP has been lovely.  They always ask how I am and if I need support, they pass on feedback from parents, pupils and the Local Authority, and I even had a call telling me how good my lesson reports are.  I don't feel like a number here, I feel like a person.  

Every thing they do puts the child first, which is also my ethos.  I love the variety of children that I work with and the people I meet as a result in their schools, care homes etc.  It's very rewarding and I feel incredibly well supported.  It's a great company to work for and they work with the best kids too!  

My days are full and that’s exactly what I like. As a full-time TP Teacher, I have a busy timetable and see number of students throughout the week, both in person or online. I am able to focus entirely on them as individuals, on their progress and their needs. This means I can bring all my skills, qualifications and CPD to work every day and devote my time to teaching and supporting my young people.  
Of course, it’s not just me. There is fantastic group of skilled and dedicated people who ensure I have the time and support I need to be the best I can be. We may not physically be in the same space, but we’re always in contact and are all totally behind the ethos of the company. I have been with TP for almost 5 years and the care for others and sense of belonging is something I hadn’t experienced in 30 years of teaching. 
It can be sad to say goodbye when my part in young person’s provision comes to an end, but it’s always good to know we’ve had a positive impact on their journey.  The moments of achievement and celebrations of even the smallest successes makes work meaningful, valuable and an absolute joy. 

From my first contact with Targeted Provision I felt supported beginning with an online interview followed by face to face meeting of my  helpful Leader and a group online meet of fellow tutors. You can pace your own working day by organising your own calendar so lots of flexibility. Referrals for tutoring sessions can be either accepted or declined there is no pressure to accept every tutoring of a YP as I can determine how to organise my working week which is a great positive. The management team are so supportive and regularly recognise the sometimes difficult assignments Tutors have to deal with so there is always someone to speak to immediately if needed. There are however many enjoyable moments which outweigh the hard parts of the job. I have forged many positive relationships with co-workers, parents, carers and of course the Young people never cease to surprise  me how amazing they are in achieving their ultimate goals in life. I really enjoy this job as every day I feel I am making a real difference.

Targeted Provision has been the most rewarding, caring and supportive company that I have ever worked for. Management are approachable and genuinely interested in listening to your ideas, suggestions and questions about processes and how to best improve services and support. Throughout my time I have seen and heard the amazing impact that TP and our tutors have had to the lives of vulnerable children and young people, particularly this past year during the pandemic. Work has been challenging but ultimately pushed and improved my confidence, resilience, insight and knowledge of alternative education support. Everyone at Targeted Provision genuinely cares which makes the working environment feel supportive, positive and that every individual is valued. I feel incredibly lucky to have been given the opportunity to work for Targeted Provision, I will always value my time there and it has cemented my enthusiasm to work alongside young people and begin my own Teacher Training in the future.

I love working for Targeted Provision. My working week can be as flexible as I choose because I am responsible for managing my own workload and working hours. The management of the company is incredibly supportive, and the workplace culture is one of care- both for their employees and for the young people whose tuition they provide. The company is structured in such a way that there is always someone to provide support if you should so need it. There is also a range of good quality CPD and training, which you can access should you wish to.  This job is really enjoyable, and I love seeing the progress that the young people make and as a result of this, the way that their self-confidence and self-esteem increases.   I am so glad that I left mainstream teaching to work for Targeted Provision.  It is the best thing I ever did!
