I was very junior when I joined the small firm, I was promised training opportunities through head office and payroll and VAT work.  I had very junior experience.  
My first day they gave me a title way beyond my capabilities.  
I found out I was pregnant, then soon after my father died.  When I returned my job role had changed with no warning.  I was now doing all the administrative duties as well as my other work.  I wasn't given a contract for over 5 months and when I recieved it my title had changed but still way beyond my actual capabilities presented at interview.  I was given work I could not do, after asking for alternative work I was told to "get on with it".  I was given no training and although completing a perfect VAT return was given no further VAT returns nor payroll work instead of work I had shown I could not do without further formal training.  
The attitude to my pregnancy news and requesting a risk assessment was met so negatively.   I later had to withdraw from the work environment due to the impact of the stress of the attitude of the managers on myself and my unborn child.  
There is no enjoyable part of the job except your hours lunch break.
The hardest part was feeling sick everyday going into work knowing I would be yelled out and talked down to.  

Typical Week:

•	Bookkeeping/Ledger Control (on a daily basis for around 300 clients)
•	Submitting Tax & VAT Returns (on a quarterly/annual basis for around 500 clients) (Also handling TAX/VAT investigations when needed)
•	Submitting Sole Trader, Partnership & Ltd Company Accounts
•	Tax & Business Management Advice (to new & existing clients)
•	Arranging & Partaking in Client Meetings (going through Accounts/Tax Returns/VAT Returns/Corp Tax with clients, to explain the figures)
•	General Administrative Duties (Paper Filing/Computer Filing/Daily Post/Office Supplies/Telephones)
•	Upkeep of Company Computer Systems (Due to prior knowledge) (including Software Updates/Virus Control/Security Control/Hardware Repairs)
•	General Everyday Running of the Office (Dealing with Clients/Opening & Closing Office)

Achievements:

•	Creation of an Advanced Excel Spreadsheet for Accounts Preparation which is now used by all employees at the Company and also sold to Clients which can be directly imported to CCH ProSystem Software.
•	Successfully Completed my Full CCH ProSystem Software Training.
•	Successfully Completed my Full IRIS Payroll Software Training.
•	Successfully Completed my Full SAGE Software Training.

My day consisted of looking through peoples expenses and entering them into datasheets on MS Excel, and taxing these expenses. I learnt how to use Excel to a high standard and how to sort expenses well. I learnt how to manage my time and how to manage excel sheets in an orderly fashion to save time and find key information easily. I had supportive co-workers who helped me with the tasks I found difficult and helped me improve. The hardest part of my job was getting accustomed to the new environment and program that I had to use, but after the initial period I picked up everything easily and moved forward. The most enjoyable part of the job was the problem solving aspect of it, weather it was proving that the total was indeed correct or understand the rules of excel.

A typical day at work involved filing documents and sorting accounts this has enabled me to develop my organisational skills furthermore,regular tasks involved me asking advice from my co-workers.Due to the hardworking nature of the job this has allowed me to develop my communication skills, an essential asset in any career.
The management team set me challenging skills and enduring tasks which has benefited me in several ways enhancing my perseverance skills.The hardest part of the job was getting to grips with the sorting of accounts however, it only took me a few hours to learn how to process accounts using Microsoft excel. The most enjoyable part of the job was getting to meet such a lovely team of co-workers who were both encouraging and a delight to work with.

Advertised as an accountant, however the majority of tasks include those of a receptionist. You’ll be placed in a shop on your own whether you have any experience or not, and be expected to hold meetings with directors of companies with no experience of preparing a set of accounts. 
The study support that is offered in your interview is a lie. I was warned by people in the area however needed some ‘accountancy experience’ to include on my CV - so if this is what you’re that’s all I’d recommend this company for.
Impossible to get hold of if you need a reference - you’ll be told the boss is in a ‘meeting’ which is never the case, and the reason the majority of the clients left in the time I was there. I saw a turnover of 15 staff in a team of 5 in less than a year.

- Performing the payroll for lots of different companies. Emailing clients. 

- Answering phone calls, dealing with customer’s problems and queries. 

- Using systems such as Kashflow and CCH. 

- Completing client’s tax returns and VAT, also general bookkeeping.

- Gained a lot of experience and skills from working part time at Taxassist, allowing me to implement my skills i have learnt from university into a workplace.

- Dealing with clients on a face to face basis has given me the confidence and knowledge to portray myself in a professional manner.

- It was enjoyable working in this small team, as all members were willing to help each other out and offer support.

Although my time with Tax Assist Accountants was short, I walked away with a handful of helpful experience and a positive outlook on the working world. The staff and management were very helpful and patient with me, who understood that I was there on a learning curve. However at the same time, the staff and management put enough trust in me for some responsibilities. For example, filing valuable paperwork for clients and dealing with clients over the phone and face to face. A difficult stage for me was to develop my confidence and work under pressure, although I was always given support and guidance to get through it. The most enjoyable part of the job was socialising with clients.

TaxAssist is a small accountancy firm in Aldershot.  I had a variety of roles including PA to the Managing Director, Receptionist, Accounts Assistant and more predominantly; Payroll Manager.

Every day was different, with clients frequently coming into the office to discuss and problems or queries.

I learned a great deal about office management and being able to work under pressure as we were only a team of four with a huge work load.

The hardest part of the job was being able to work under pressure and putting in extra hours when deadlines needed meeting.

The best part of the job was the fantastic clients and fabulous co-workers.

Working on all bookkeping duties always meeting tight deadlines, working on limited companies monthly accounts, quarterly VATs, reconciling of control accounts, VAT, PAYE, CIS, BANK 

I have learned a lot here as working with different type of companies, example consultants, builders, construction, restaurants etc

Hardest part of the job is when previous accounts have been amended and the differences have to be  sorted I would not say hardest but challenging  tasks  

I enjoy every aspects of my job working with team or on my own and when achieving successful results of assisting in finalising accounts for HMRC submission

Great fast-paced placed to work. I learned a lot here very quickly and you are expected to be able to work independently after the training period but you do get rewarded for it. I had many pay rises since starting there and always got regular pay reviews every few months. The work was enjoyable as I was working on different pieces of work everyday and I was able to interact with the customers which I find really built up my confidence. Also the staff that are there have been working for the company for a number of years, are qualified or are in training to become qualified and you can always ask them for any support that you need.
