During my time at The Football Association (FA), I was responsible for the management and coordination of 3 Victory Shield fixtures.

England v. Wales Men’s U16
England v. Northern Ireland Men’s U16
England v. Scotland Mens U16

My responsibilities included managing the planning, logistics, administration, communication and operational running of these events. In addition to the (pre event) planning I have attended on match days to ensure the successful execution of the operation. I have also managed administrative procedures post event.

It was an amazing opportunity to get the chance to work at the FA as its arguably one of the biggest sporting associations in the world. I gained invaluable experience during my time there. I was employed to cover a colleagues Maternity leave so unfortunately my time at the FA wasn't as long as I'd have liked it to be.

A great organisation with great people who are under-used and the strategy of the organisation has no fit with customer needs. It's strength is it's passionate and knowledgeable people who do a great job when allowed to but strategies are poorly thought through and never accountable due to no commercial pressures, as its a not for profit organisation. Salaries are overpaid at senior level and underpaid at officer level meaning poor retention of good insightful people and high turnover of poor managers recruited from unrelated industries.

The variety in the day to day works.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The lack of progression and constant uncertainty on future 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very clicky and there was very rarely any recognition 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
It was quite varied and there were opportunities to attend events and meet different people which was a good aspect of working for the organisation

very fun work as you work with many varieties of people, and the culture of football is always one to be apart of. You would referee a game that you pick a time to do, and you make your own way to the game and you manage the game from kick off to the final whistle, the people you deal with such as managers are lovely understanding people. Its a job requiring independence as you're usually a one man team. the most enjoyable part of the job must be the in play refereeing, overseeing the game and being the ruler of what goes where.

The FA is a professional well motivated and passionate place to work, a typical day is so diverse and contains variety meeting and dealing with a variety of people and cultures all geared around being the 'best'. I learnt a great deal whilst employed there from many different areas which made my time and role there extremely valuable. The most enjoyable was working with the young people in schools and grassroots clubs.
The hardest part was leaving

Exciting and relaxed

Always chance to meet a footballing hero or legend. 
Staff very friendly. Relaxed atmosphere and freshly prepared meals. 
Accesss or Hilton hotel for meeting and social events.
Received a guided tour of Wembley ataskum from changing rooms to executive boxes and walk to the pitch.  

Enjoyable place to work, with fun people. Your left to get on with your work, which is great. We are looked after in terms of tickets to events at Wembley. However, there is no progression. No room to grow, and at times you do feel undervalued. Pay is not enough for the work I do.

The FA take advantage of their status to manipulate and exploit employees, with little regard for their personal development. Good as an entry level job, but don't stay longer than two years... if you can last for two years on an £18k starting salary in London.

Always enjoyed working there. Nice staff nice atmosphere. The culture is to make sure all venue visitors have a good and lasting experience. Which is how it should be. 

Working as football referee for the football association has given me several life skills within a workplace most notable the skill of people management as well organisational skills under time constraints.
