During the training they emphasise on how important making a good first impression is here. So coming to work here for the first time you'd think for a 5-star hotel that often hosts stays for celebrities, that they would also afford and be willing to provide facilities just as good for the staff. Well you're wrong. Instead you're welcomed each day being sent six feet deep into a basement that screams poverty where not everyone will have a secure place to store their belongings each day, as well as this the toilet facilities are horrible and for men still use the old-style metal screen urinals and crusty, outdated hand-dryers. I've had better experiences in portaloos just for comparison. Not to mention that hygiene provision is just as shoddy with soap dispensers lying empty all around and the only working hand sanitizer station at all in the staff area is outside the sign-on point outside the manager's office. That's right, not even the one in the staff canteen works at all. 

Having said that the staff canteen is actually rather nice and I could not fault the hot meals there at all, it's also run as a buffet where you can help yourself to as much food as you want. The only saving grace here really.

Now onto the work environment, as others have pointed out there is a very conservative feel to management, there seem to be so many of them however there are a certain few who are actually very pleasant and don't talk down, while most others don't even attempt any eye contact walking past you. That's it really.

Overall I haven't received a very good first impression from working here, and would not recommend applying for a front of house role here unless it's a management role where you'll immediately become too important to socialise with anyone else.

Really good friendly stuff, but it's fake full -originally, culture report (worker to boss) about  every your move will be reported to the management, and everyone calls you their best friend (in fact, everyone thinks only of themselves). To live well in a team, you need to lie every time, or keep silent about your life and your steps. If you are a good person, this is not the place for you, if you think about money, this is the top for the initially high level 2/5

Before starting work there is a briefing on what's going to happen especially when there are events. There are usually few Supervisors going around to guide and help the staff in need but due to changing of Supervisors from the Old ones to new ones, there are a lot of shifts within the working environment causing misunderstanding and confusion among staff. Respect and Compassion for their workforce isn't their usual strength. I have worked double shifts here before only having half an hour break that day. There's also favouritism happening. The most enjoyable part of the Job is serving and meeting famous guests. 

Typical day at work: arrived collect daily briefly get to the podium open the system, collect Breakfast report from frond desk and newspapers from concierge and cash From sales. Collect all menus for the service and check all email and reservation and print report for the kitchen. At 7:00 ready to run the day. Breakfast, lunch, afternoon teas service.

What did I learn: English, Guest care, High quality of service, How to be a Hostess.

Management: Well organice

The most enjoyable part of the job: The experience with all Guest and all my co-workers

Our typical day at work was preparation for the events, helping guests and serving  them. I have learned 5 star silver service Landmark way, became more confident while  I am dealing with guests, learned how to help , deal and train the colleagues. I had good managers with excellent guidance and good with staff. I had very good co-workers with all different countries had good friendship. Hardest part of the job was working long hours and tight turnarounds
between the events and enjoyable part is when event goes very well and satisfaction for the client.

Fast paced environment, with rude management and kitchen staff, understand the stress to an event but swearing and etc is not professional and only further adds to the stress. Complete Gordon Ramsey like vibes.

Very long hours, often messed up pay, however, I did enjoy the events and serving clients. 5-star hotel so it was common to see celebrities

Because it is the 0-hour contract, many students work here which is great because I too am students.

My duties include provide high customer service, using specialised skills in regards to service such as lunch service, dinner and afternoon tea (conferences, meetings, weddings, birthdays, charities), set up the ballrooms and training staff if required. Appreciating customers by identifying the range of their needs and demonstrate knowledge of the services offered by The Landmark London Hotel and ability to respond to the needs of customers to minimise conflict.
Multicultural workplace.

Positive:
Great hotel to learn, good benefits, fair pay, plenty of trainings
My Exec was probably the most knowledgable, professional and supporting boss I worked with

Negative:
Old school management style, conservative and blocking free thinking, somewhat intimidating athmoshere
Managing Director lives in the past and believes he is the important guest in the building (rather than an employee of the company)
Stressful work

On a normal day I would meet with my co workers and embrace the nature of teamwork by serving weddings and other big events. It can get very busy so everyone is always helping each other to lessen the stress. The hardest thing about the job is I have to lift heavy tables and chairs. 

The most enjoyable part of the job is when you get a compliment from a customer who recognises your efforts.

Very activate place with not a supportive management system. Over loaded with work but not enough staff.
I am a handy working with the Landmark hotel. My day to day job can vary from changing toilets,sinks and taps to changing light bulbs and fixing door closers.
One thing i have accomplished within the Landmark is my plumbing course and learning new skills with different tradesmen.
