When actually out on the road job is fine, however management couldn’t care about you any less, money is awful, early starts in the morning good finishing times, working from Gloucester depot any problems with the vans it’s always your fault you got to finish your day and then sort out their van, got to load in the morning with no cover if it rains you’re soaked for the rest of the day, if you don’t do as they ask they will threaten to sack you. You get to see nice areas of England, random nights away they don’t care if you have something going on they just send you away.

a typical day at symphony for a class 2 driver would consist of a start of around 4 to 6am. 

I would do my walk round checks and then proceed to my first drop usual amount of deliveries would be 13 to 20 a day. usually taking me around 10 to 15 hours perday.

other drivers at the job were great always willing to help each other out or give advice is asked I found that the culture and socialising with your work mates made the job a lot easier to do

I found the hardest part of the job was finding time to fit things in after work like dentist appointments and doctors appointments and things of that nature

Depends , there are some good days and bad days. Management slacking like always , but the job is not that bad.
Sometimes you can be at home in 6 hours sometimes in 10. Depends on the volume of work . And depends of the traffic you got ahead  .
Easy to scan everything as you have a scanner to help you do that , and sort everything out from drop to drop. You might get between 1-15 drops , depends how many days is your route planned for. Good wages , better that the most companies especially for the hours you do. Night outs are payed , as well as staying services.

Avoid this place if you're English: Assembly Operatives required to build 6 trolleys (48 carcasses) per day within 12 weeks, if you last that long that is. 80% foreign workers so asking questions to line leaders gets lost in translation. Got sick of being tapped on the shoulder and grunted at. I lasted 3 days which was 3 days too long. On the up side......The toilets were clean and the vending machines were stocked up regularly, but a dreadful place.

The office is always right no matter what happens and it’s your fault if they are wrong

A modern system and process saves what is a very 1970s management. Good processes, ok product but no communication from management. Focus is on saving pennies quite often to the detriment of securing further business. Old management reluctant to change or evolve means unless changed the business will eventually go backwards

Probably the most unprofessional approach to training new colleagues as I can honestly remember. Imagine being told to follow other people that have not got to time nor inclination to train the companys new recruits. Also the amount of daily reports needed to complete on top of the 200 or so miles driven means a normal work life balance goes out of the window.

Symphony has a relaxed atmosphere but it can be busy. 

The lack of progress available on the admin side is what made me leave, alongside the poor basic salary. This is slightly offset by the bonus scheme which is paid quarterly.

The way the department was managed needs an overhaul, my particular one absolutely had their favourites.

Symphony is a great company to work for. We deliver thousands of kitchens a week all over the UK. 

I am only condsidering to leave due to the fact I would like to relocate to the south.

Initially the job was good fun! Then after summer you realise it’s just long working days, and whenever there is a small problem it takes forever to sort out. They hound you to follow protocol to keep it simple but sadly the support from head office isn’t actually there to achieve it
