As the transport manager, I check in with all the drivers on the road, managing ETA's and communicating with the customers. Overseeing and supporting our drivers, if they have a problem on site, I'll be calling site contacts and trying to get things moving from our end. Making sure our drivers feel support is a large part of my job. I also take bookings and plan routes for the drivers.
I work alongside both owners who manage the business directly, the office is small and we are all able to work together to support the drivers on the road.


Thrasos has been operating for almost ten years and grown from strength to strength. managed directly by the owners, you feel more than just a number. Being able to communicate directly with the top management means if a problem needs looking at, it will be.
All vehicles are within a few years old and where possible, allocated to individual drivers. Good rates of pay and pension scheme, complimentary hot drinks before you set off in a morning and at least once a month, encouraged to have a hot meal on the company during breaks. 

When I started I’d never driven the curtain side vehicles or been used to securing freight, but they trained me and I went out for a couple of days with one of their drivers so they could show me. The days can be long sometimes but it’s always interesting because you never know what you will be transporting or to where, I might be in Scotland one day and Brighton the next which is nice. They usually talk to me about how it’s going and its a small company so I know the owners quite well now, I’m going for my training for the bigger trucks and they are paying for my training too!

Not stressful at all, just do the job right and everything is fine 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very good,but i let my self down,my lost. I will work for them if they ever call me back.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Enjoying driving long journeys, if you don't like your own company then this job is not for you.

Day starts by checking the vans and if your van doesnt start - its your fault

When your get to a destination if youre in a queue the expect you to push to the front.

Can work 16 hours days and they want you in 6 hours later.

If you deliver to building sites they expect you to make other people wait. This causes major conflict on building sites.

Vans are unreliable and are always going to be repaired. 

Company owner constantly having a go.



A typical day was start at 3-4 in the morning. 
I learned how nothing just how you shouldn’t treat staff.
Management is the worse I’ve ever worked for.
The hardest part of the job was working all day 15+ hours shift then being expected to come in a few hours later.
Sending me down to London in a van with no first gear then expecting me to go to Sheffield for a pick up that’s ready but it wasn’t ready at all.
Most enjoyable part was quitting.



I was a van driver for over a year and absolutely loved it.
 Management are excellent and are easy to communicate with and look after you very well. 
It can be very long days but that is the nature of the beast. 
You get too see all the different areas of the uk it’s really good if you like to be out and about.

They have a very effective system that they follow and if you stick to it you can not go wrong.  

Do not work for this company, they expect you to work all hours of the day and expect you to take breaks while loading/unloading.
You will get spoken too like rubbish by management and not left to get on with the job. 
You get told overtime is optional but will try and be forced to do it.
