The inconsistency of this company is clear to see the moment you walk through the door. From site to site and department to department the approach is anywhere between a PLC and a market stall…. 

Some staff appear to get away with anything and everything, whilst others get flogged to within an inch of their life. 

The finance department in particular appears to be in complete disarray with completely incompetent managers and staff arriving and leaving by a revolving door. 

The ‘family company/staff welfare’  side of things that they rely on heavily is hit and miss, outdated and nowhere near as ingrained into the core of the company as they think it is. It is for this reason that a lot of very long serving members of staff have left over the last 2-3 years. 

Whilst the motor trade in general tends to be a step behind other industries in terms of work/home life balance and processes,  I would argue that Thurlow Nunn is a further step behind that. 

Some very good people work at Thurlow Nunn and there are some exceptional managers but speaking from many years experience there, there are far far better places to work. 

What was once a company full of passionate and loyal employees is no more, and they only have themselves to blame. 

I joined TN Norwich after being a self employed mechanic for 8 years. I very quickly settled in and was made to feel very welcome. The line manager and workshop controller were patient in my transition from self employed to working in a main dealer workshop and supported me very well. I’ve now been with the company for nearly 3 years and I’m really enjoying the job. 

The workshop is normally busy and the workload is fairly high, which can be intimidating at first but if you manage your time efficiently, you will be rewarded financially. 

The whole team at TN Norwich is like one big family. There is good relations between different departments. Managers will take the time to listen to any concerns or needs. Upper management, directors and partners will walk through the workshop and stop to say hello, check that your ok, which reflects the companies great ethics. 




Most possibly the worst place I have ever worked. The team were so close that it was difficult to break into! A manager was rude to me from my very first day and took an instant dislike to myself without me doing anything, this had a negative effect on other staff about me. They were all allowed to say vile things and be rude to me in front of other management “ but that’s just how they are and they sell cars” so were never reprimanded. I cried most days and was bullied and made to feel everything was my fault! Staff members would say one thing to me then deny they had said it to make me look a liar. I have never worked in a place with such a toxic environment, new people don’t last there very long and aren’t made very welcome. I was even sexually harassed at one point and the manager laughed it off.
Avoid this place if you don’t want to be bullied and have no one take you seriously

- staff are not supported properly and if you have a problem or a concern, good luck getting that sorted out.
- understaffed all the time and you are expected to pick up the extra work with no reward or recognition. 
- always ‘this is what you can do better’ and never well done or thank you
- constantly changing commission structure with no written evidence of change
- managers getting pay rises whilst others get pay cuts for literally no reason
- management are lazy and rude 
- so so much favouritism it’s ridiculous 
- micromanagement is rife 
- told that we were making too much money for what we do when the manager who said that, had a pay rise 
- no awareness of neurodiversity 
- very very quick to fire people and leave them in the dirt
- company states they made a huge profit within the last year when they cut everyone’s pay so no wonder 
- people are rude and it is not an inclusive place to work

I have worked in the motor trade for 27 years now and I can honestly say that this is one of the friendliest places I have worked. It is a very busy site, but enjoyable and the days do pass very quickly. This company is a great company to work for & the support from your work colleagues is second to none. The company and senior management care about its people, and do there upmost if you have a problem that you need help with whether it is work related or personal. Sometimes some sacrifices do need to be made, but this is part and parcel of this trade. I would defiantly recommend Thurlow Nunn as a good place to work to anyone.

Workshop filled to capacity leaving no time to sell and complete any additional work found.
No support from management
One day you were the best service advisor they had ever employed, the next you were worse than useless. 
Brand support worse than useless. Staff expected to be at there desks long before their contracted start time, made to feel guilty for taking a lunch break and very rarely finished at contracted time. Overall generally working ten extra hours a week for no extra salary.

I carry out various duties mainly administration that covers a wide spectrum of the business. I have worked here for 12 years and am pleased that my skill level is recognised and used to it's potential. All levels of staff are friendly and easy to approach, including the management team. The hardest part of my job is that I never know what I will be doing next, but then the most enjoyable part is completing a difficult task that I have been set.

Unless you want to be threatened to be sacked everyday & commission being taken off you this is the place to work! Management are bullies and talk about staff behind their backs in morning meetings when the staff members isn’t in that day, have no care for staff whatsoever, under pressure 24/7, get shouted at if you can’t force a sale out of a customer. Worst place to work, staff turnover is so bad & these are the reasons why.

Can seem very poorly ran at times such as bookings not really timed right then have to rush jobs to fix their errors and wages just don't fit the actaul work load put on you, but lots of training offered, but they always say they will give little bonuses but never do always adding more and more to the job like video vehicle health checks for nothing extra, only office staff benefit from them not techs

Thurlow Nunn is an excellent place to work. I have worked at 4 out of the 12 sites in my 10 plus years with the company and have loved every second of it. Thurlow Nunn is now a large company but still very much retains the "family business" ethos. Its staff and customers alike are the absolute focus of the business and providing exceptional customer service whilst also taking care of the people providing it.
