I have much to thank Torfaen CBC for, in as much as they taught me to understand that no matter what type of "industry" you work in, it is always "dog eat dog".
They always proclaimed the essentials behind "teamwork", yet I noticed that this modus operandi, got you as far as the door.
Although, this was 10 years of my working life, and when all considered, my entire life, when adding on travelling, but regrets are for people who are willing to accept things you know are wrong.
I, opted to move, to the associated Housing Association, thus securing the wage that I has spent all of this time building to achieve

A typical day was varied seeing a number of people living within the community
Learned a lot about local government and policies.
Office environment was very good everyone friendly and had a hands on approach but felt that your face had to fit in. Staff who had long standing contracts were favoured more than others regardless of knowledge and ability. Management could have been more supportive at times. Most enjoyable part of the job was the variety and the ability to  use all of your skills to improve the lives of others. Hardest part of the job was not having enough hours in the day sometimes to get everything done.

A normal day at work would involve mainly account updates and telephone conversations with customers and bailiff representatives. I learnt many skills in customer services and how to cope with difficult customers. Management were fantastic and co workers were great and still remain good friends.

Hardest part of job was dealing with distressed customers with bailiffs at there houses who would shout on the ohone.

Enjoyable part were the team. We had a good group of co workers.

A typical day provide opportunity to help others with their problems. Joint working and opportunity influence key decision challenge include meeting increasing public expectation and reduce resources and balancing conflicting opinion. Rewarding aspect include working with others to achieve pragmatic solution.

Spent the last 7 years working as a caretaker/site manager at various sites and really enjoyed my time.  I would still be working there if it wasn't for the idiotic woke policies, that left me with no choice but to leave as I do not need someone telling me what is best for me. I am perfectly capable of making that decision for myself.

My own experience of working for TCBC is that management have total disregard to dignity in work place policy, and will turn blind eye and cover up wrong doing by senior staff, and actively victimise those raising concerns out of their job. Unbelievable social services can still operate like this - throw back to the bad days of local government.

In this current economic climate working for the Local Authority is now under enormous fincail pressures and magor cutbacks.  This is resulting in uncertain times and an insecure future.  Thw Welsh Govenment have introduced new legislations and changes to current policies which makes it almost imposible to run operationaly and budget cuts reslting in staffing issues.

With the severe budget cuts Local Authorities in Wales are facing jobs are being reduced (my own position is being made redundant) and more work is being expected from those that stay. Tough times are being faced for the foreseeable future.

the best job ever! as an animal and pest controll officer i was responsible for collection and disposal of stray dogs and the eradication of various pest species around the borough i thoroughly enjoyed every second

New staff with attitude problems, being micromanaged

Stressful, having to be at the top of the tree and follow along like little sheep
