As a young person, fairly early in my career, with a salary that is fairly modest, TGP can only offer three things to encourage me to stay longer, for which TGP has been categorically unable to do, or far too slow to do: 
1)	Offer flexible working i.e. working different hours, and allowing more WFH days; 
2)	Learning and Development, this included learning different processes, legal documentation, getting involved in project work. Management are often unwilling to share these, but routinely complain of how “busy” they are, rather than use these tasks as a learning and development objective for staff at a lower level.
3)	Regular feedback on work. I requested feedback in May 2021, was then told by management that they were too busy and received feedback in Oct/ Dec 2021, this is too late to help support actioning my objectives for the year.

Several potential areas of improvement include:
1)	Training and Development is non-existent, outside of internal training related to TGP systems and changes to credit policies from the Senior Management Team (SMT), these are not transferable skills.
2)	Stretch Opportunities are solely at the discretion of your manager and not mandated and followed through on your objectives, therefore these can take potentially years to complete, which is unacceptably slow.
3)	Lack of Clear Transparency on the credit strategy, credit risk appetite, and credit risk mitigation for certain customers that is cascaded from SMT, making the role challenging. 
4)	Credit Check List is not clearly defined and subject to a lot of interpretation, this should be harmonised and written down to determine best practice and adapted over time rather than via word of mouth from management.

The company had a "Diversity & Inclusion" initiative that was not cascaded to employees at a more junior level e.g. a report was produced that noone outside a select few could see, with no support for training and development, inadequate feedback, and management more focused on looking busy with their own projects. The senior management team (SMT) claims to pursue a diversity policy when hiring, upskilling and promoting, this sadly could not be further from the truth. There are no development plans for staff, managers do not want to share opportunities to upskill staff as they are too busy protecting their own jobs and position within the company. SMT are not transparent and do not sufficiently cascade information, so junior staff are clueless about the direction of the company which is constantly changing. Overall management does not represent people at a more junior level and society as a whole, and this stagnant management level, middle and above, is unlikely to change in the near to medium term as things stand. Avoid at all costs.

The enabling  environment to contribute and quality training for all staffs.

Task and the delivery timeframe 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Friendly and collaborative . Colleagues give positive and supportive attitude towards work. There is a culture of work life balance that is driven by all staffs. An environment where HSE is the responsibility of everyone.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
In a typical day at the company, i exchange pleasantries with colleagues and settle down to review the operational as well as expected task from departmental management. Throughout the day I completed various administrative duties as well, including answering phones, drafting documents and emails, filing, and managing vendor relationship. I also provide analyzed data and solutions for daily commercial, contractual and technical issues.

By far the worst place I’ve ever worked for. Stay away from the credit control specifically the SME team if you want to avoid developing serious mental health issues. The management are the most disorganised and egotistical people I’ve ever had the displeasure of working under. Cannot take constructive criticism and on a regular will prevent you from having a voice when attempting to raise concerns. Never have I worked for a company of which I wake up riddled with anxiety and dread from the thought of going in. You will raise your concerns regarding the broken processes and dysfunctional relationships within departments, and instead of being listened to, you will be made out you are the issue. This is a very simple and easy way of keeping a very lazy managerial lifestyle, and definitely not a team I would ever aspire to be part of again.

On a side note, the benefits are pretty good (Bupa Dental, MediCash etc).

As a manager for 10 years I was given the opportunity to recruit, develop and implement changes. I was also picked to work on a number of projects and utilise my 20 years of experience in the market and my skillset.

My biggest learning curve was coming from a previous large Domestic Supplier and Smaller Commercial player to moving to a Commercial only Energy Supplier.  I was responsible for all areas instead of one including Contractual agreements and Industry Point of contact. 

The culture was good and room for opportunity to develop and move to different roles . Hardest part of the job was the workload and the sign off for new resource due to Business Process but this was manageable, as in many companies the delay in sign off from higher levels is always detailed and not as swift as desired.

I spent 20 years with Total and thoroughly enjoyed the numerous challenges that I was able to manage during my time with them. Most recently I spent 6 years managing a retail sales activity in Asia and this was an excellent opportunity to develop successful teams in challenging cultural and geographical regions.
Throughout my career with Total I was fortunate to be rewarded with regular promotional moves covering a wide range of activities including sales, marketing, support functions and particularly business development.
Many of my colleagues have become good friends, whose guidance and support has been appreciated.

A typical day a work would be, opening the store and sorting the newspapers out and making sure the float was correct. At 6 a.m. I would open the store and customers would immediately start to come in. It would stay busy till about 8.45 then a manager would come in and make sure everything was ok and have a chat for a while while doing some work. At 10 a co-worker would come in. 

I learned that customers should always come first and also being a sales assistant that opens and closes the store is not an easy job regardless of what people say. 

The hardest part of the job would be in a morning when we got a delivery and I had to manage being on the till and making sure that all stock was there that the manager had ordered. 

The most enjoyable part of the job was seeing all the different walks of life that came into the shop.

Thankfully, my tenure here was brief.

In the time I spent within the organisation I was subjected to possibly the most archaic and complicated system I've ever seen (having worked in engineering for many years I've seen a few!), the most stressed out employees I've ever worked with, the poorest training (IE no training) and management that are seemingly ignorant of all of the above.

First and foremost, whatever job you do or business you run - employee wellbeing is the UTMOST priority. More important than profit. Why? Because a company that cares about it's staff is a company whose staff care about their customers. And when customers feel cared about - they buy products because they are having a pleasant experience. 

Not the case here sadly.

sadly my experience with this company was brief. HR was at best inefficient and before job offer did not fully disclose the full ins and outs of pre-employment. As i was let go after 5 weeks 


The pre-employment process is very invasive. The values they preach are hypocritical and are not shared by the people driving them down your throat. 

The team is, demoralised, the skill set is limited and the management chaotic at best. work processes are overly complicated and needlessly long winded. The building is run down and expect 

Expect nothing and you won't be disappointed. It's a plodders job at best

They heap pressure on you to conform to the company standards when they don't really have any. They claim to help you advance in your career but provide no training matrix or support

Really poor, no sense of togetherness and your boss is just out for themselves

Long and very unrewarding. You long for the phone to fall silient
