During my contract at UEL, a typical day was relatively quiet a lot of the staff members had a lot of time on their hands to talk, although I learned some stuff. Despite trying to liaise with team members to learn more and forge a working relationship I found myself constantly battling with others in the department. I found that management weren't interested in working with someone who they had hired on a contract basis to do a job it looked like management needed someone in the post as opposed to have someone who was willing to learn the job. It wasn't until they became crushed under the pressure from others in the department when they decided I wasn't good enough, I wouldn't have been good enough because when I need the required tools to do my job I wasn't supported and that made me question my role in the organisation. individuals I worked with and around constantly attempted to abuse others in a mental capacity by swearing and disrespecting others with intimidation making them incompetent, when they weren't. The hardest part of the job was trying to remain focused when no tasks were available.  People and management really clear with what they wanted, at times I was given a piece of work to do when asked follow up questions the answers generally where around just get it done. I can say I had a slightly enjoyable part of the job which was assisting people with issues that they had when work was available.

As a student ambassador for the University of East London  i AM always looking forward to a day at work probably because of the 'unknown element'. I always anticipate knowing what the day will bring.  Every single event we have different students from different schools to work with either in workshops, university talks, campus tours or residential visits so we just don't know what to expect.
The team of ambassadors contribute to the experience positively because we are all students from the university, plus we share the different experiences we have had from previous jobs, our future aspirations after university and much more.
The hardest part of the job is when we don't get paid on time sometimes and we have bills and rent to worry about.
The most enjoyable part of the job is working within a friendly and cooperative team, we are also familiar with the environment plus we get paid to do what we know best since we already students at the university.

Smooth application process , was shadowing on my first day & from the second days onwards they allowed me to be independent. The environment of the workplace allows me to experience days whereby I would have to work under pressure & there would be days where it would be fairly relaxed. I enjoyed that because it allowed me to experience both different types of cultures in the work place. A typical day of work , I would go to each allocated office on campus and fill in the number of people found in each office on a listed spreadsheet. In doing this I would be in direct contact with lecturers and senior managers in the university so it was nice to see what a typical day at work in there life was also like.

The hardest part of the job is perhaps somedays it can be tiring having to travel from one campus to another. What I enjoyed most about the job is the people I met in the workplace were very kind and welcoming.

I would use the mornings to ensure that I was fully prepared for the lessons which were mostly in the afternoons/evenings. In the actual lessons, I would ensure that the lesson plans were fully covered and students had achieved the objectives.
I learned that it was difficult for a lecturer to achieve full control in the classroom as there could be technical challenges like WIFI issues with some students suddenly disappearing / exiting.
I found management very supportive and gave me every assistance I needed to succeed..
The workplace culture was very collaborative and it was like one big family.
The hardest part of the job was not being in full control of the class as mentioned above due to technical issues.
The most enjoyable part of the job was the interaction I had with the students who were clearly determined to succeed.

I worked here for around 18 months after Uni. This is a great place for part time work. Great staff to work with, good pay as they start you on living wage for London and give you sound holiday package. The spread of work is interesting and work colleagues helped me to focus on getting tasks completed and helped me to improve without being over critical. Managers I met were supportive and took an interest. There is a nice vibe, people smiling and clear about university as it serves east london. Would definitely have liked to stay on as could see potential career. Have kept in touch with few people so will try to get back. Thank you UEL for giving me the best start to my working life.

This was a work placement provided by my school as my year group needed to gain work experience (although I have already had a paid job prior tot his). I believe my employer took full advantage of me as it was an unpaid job - I would always be given a task, one after another. This included filing and word processing documents, internet researching, and emailing messages on behalf of colleagues. I did undoubtedly, improve my IT skills from this.

My co-workers were very friendly and supportive of me, and gave me gifts at the end of my work experience for all the "hard work". the hardest part of the job is to keep up with requests as I needed to finish every task before going home. The most enjoyable part of the job was meeting new people and being treated like an adult.

On the 10th of April 2014 to be precise my direct boss was not in the office and my manager as me to organize an induction class for the new students and create an account for them which will generate their BCS unique number. I have never been assigned with the responsibility of creating an account for new students. I was nervous but was able to control myself because I wouldn’t want the students to lose their confidence in me and my boss as well. I log into the company’s website there was no outlined procedures on how to carry out this task, but with my IT experience i was to carry out the task successfully though i failed in several attempt but at the end and also with my experience in customers relation i was able to keep them without them complaining. It was fun and I learnt a great deal.

I have the responsibility of monitoring the success of students and dealing effectively with those that are not meeting the expected targets. Majority of my day is spent analysing students records of attendance by using systems such as SITS and Qlickview, alongside jasper reports.  With the use of these databases I can correlate why students are not achieving the results that they have been expected to attain. 
One key aspect of my job is to come face to face with many students. As UEL is based in Newham, the majority of our students are from many different nationalities making UEL a very diverse place to work at. As my role is to support students I have to deal with many problems that students face whether that be academic help or pastoral advice.

A  typical day at work consists of ensuring customers are enrolled onto a course of education . Providing customer service; promoting sales resolving issues from students and staff .

I have learned how to effectively use communication skills and ensure working to a strict deadline. Monitoring order trackers and stock movement within the supply chain 

Working alongside friendly colleagues very helpful.

I enjoy working for John Smith's Bookshop , i do not find the job hard at all.

The most enjoyable part of the job is that we get to interact with various customers from students , to lecturers , to on site contractors and having continuous communication with management .

My last role at UEL  involved Supporting the transition process from a set of legacy systems into Sitecore, which I was able to complete any tasks assigned to me well before deadlines and for which the organisation has had very positive feedback. The role before that involved testing various web products and management were impressed with my learning skills and the way I was able to grasp all required practices and exponentially expand my knowledge to be able to handle higher responsibilities and take part in executive activities.  
 
I enjoy working in a team. I offered my IT skills to the university's department and I took on different roles within the organization.
