I worked here for less than a year before I was dismissed without warning.

This place is toxic and I hated every second of it. 

There is a culture of micro-management which stems from the very top and unless you are an engineer, you are not seen as valuable or important. You cannot challenge any senior management if you think you have a better way of achieving an objective, or you will be blacklisted as I was.

Flexible working is the reserve of senior management only and work-life balance means nothing them.

You will be expected to work late nights, weekends and go into an office every day (even during a pandemic) and you will have no reward for it. You will do exactly as you're told to, even if you can show pedigree in the area you are supposed to be working in. I was a manager here and was given no budget, no resource and no support. The workload was unmanageable and unsustainable despite best efforts. 

This is a stifling, profits-before-people, fly-by-night, unprofessional, untrustworthy, arrogant and neglectful company and I would advise anyone to avoid working for or with them. If you're reading this and you work there, then get out as fast as you can.

There are some good people working at Van Elle, unfortunately they don't run it.

This place on the surface promised the earth but really didn't deliver, they also appear to care about their staff but that is just if your face fits.  You start early and are expected to be there till nearly 7pm everyday.  I learned very little as the training I was supposed to receive was non existant.  The management are a joke, you are treading on eggshells as they will get rid of you for the slightest thing, hardest part of the job is trying to learn the job and getting information out of the people in know is like pulling teeth!!  The most enjoyable part of the job was going home and days off.

Was bullied from the team leader and talked behind my back. Very clicky if your face don’t fit neither do you. Was pulled into office several times and was told that if I needed help when struggling I’d get it but when I asked I was snarled at. Very stressful and expected to do more than I could handle. Also learnt of a colleague being suspended for something they didn’t do. It made me I’ll and I’m now struggling to find work because my mental health suffered 

Pay sounds good but it's daily rate so when u manage to get the chains and padlocks off after your long Shift you work out how many hours you have put in you'll chuck it.  Guaranteed to be between 55 and 65 hours easily especially in summer nights. There a joke of a company the Logo think safety act safely is wrong there health & safety guys only see what they want and turn a blind eye just so the job gets done just as long as u sign the toolbox talks.  Stay away from this lot unless you want slaved.

I started working at Van Elle at the age of 18 and ive enjoyed each year massively, its hard working as we work 12 hour days without a break but it's rewarding at the end of the working week. Ive gained great experience working with one of the highest profitable earning companies in the country and will carry my experience and knowledge with me to upcoming companies.

Very poor management. You are only a number Piling division is very very poorly run. They treat the man with the very poorly.... Some of the foreman Cowll the office what to do and also treat the lads very very poorly on site ,.HR department don’t want to help it’s all about van elle. They come across has a very helping a Loyal company but trust me there far from that they just look after them selfs

Horrible company, the management only care about themselves, one manager once said to me 'I don't like people that make my life hard' when I put in a bullying complaint.

The next working day I was fired from the named person who I put the bullying complaint in about. Absolutely disgust's me and whoever would like to work here be my guest but be prepared to be trampled over and not even heard when you're crying out for help!

It was a good job, with a group of hard working lads that got on well with each other, the hours were long and hard, but the skills i learned while i was there like operating a fork lift truck and operating an overhead crane will hopefully give me a boost towards getting my next job, the hardest part of the job was the long hours daily, sometimes working 14 hours a day.

the day rates do not reflect the skills and tickets held anymore the industry has moved on but van elles rates didnt move with it 
bonus system is a good incentive but means usually busting a gut non stop then looking back and realising it really wasnt worth the effort and sacrifice, had four local jobs in the whole 5 yrs i was there

No clarity from management  at all

Great when you're not in the yard at head office

22 hours in a truck no aircon no where to park safely on a night
