The problems working for Vhg are many and varied, starting with a corporate attitude masquerading as a caring health company.  The company pursues profits and contracts and staff struggle to keep up with the ever changing landscape of corporate demands.  Staff are expected to get on with the changes or get out, this often contributes to low staff morale and high turn over.  Striking a balance between professional ethics and business demands is challenging.  I experienced many of the mental health referrals coming through as unsuitable for short term client work and high risk.  Whereas there is Supervision in place, it does not truly meet the client volume and client presentations being worked with and as such is inadequate.  Whereas CPD is in place, staff are rarely given the time to focus on self development, with minimal time in between client work and client cancellation spaces taken up with admin. Eventually this work culture is a short cut to work related burn out.

They pretend to value staff and to support you but when you actually ask for support that would affect the number 1 priority above all else of clinical contacts - even if only briefly- they show their true colours. They are happy to ‘support’ you as long as they don’t have to do anything and can put it all onto you even if the problem you have is caused by them. For example, being asked to do something new but not allowing you to have the (short) training available to help you perform the task. Therefore it’s up to you to stumble about in the dark or to put in your own extra time to ensure you do a good job for the patient. 
I have never known an organisation to be constantly changing things and bombarding you with information so much. This is a huge drain on the limited time you have. There is about 15 mins to prep a client and about 15 mins write up time if you are a human and not a robot and therefore naturally get more tired as the day goes on. There is no time to prepare for clinical supervision unless you have a DNA or you do it on the side when all of your attention should be in a work meeting for example. Disappointed and let down by this company who are just another flawed and misguided IAPT service. 

You are treated as a number not a human being...they focus on targets, quantity rather than quality..

The team leaders don't help as they are supposed to do, they are out there only to tell you that you didn't hit the targets and they don't care about employees mental wellbeing. 

No progression at all...only volume work and stress is increasing over the time.


The post is entitled virtual physiotherapist but everyone is told to do a lot of admin and reception work within same amount of time despite having the diary fully booked.

People come and leave frequently and no one knows when someone from the team leaves as the leader doesn't inform anyone about anything...just the targets

There is a team meeting every few weeks but then gets cancelled last minute.

Things keep changing in the company, more contracts and new patients with different requirements but they don't do any training/updates and we are left to deal with everything on our own.

Overall....too much to do in a short time without support and progression.


I am 23 year brown make, who felt extremely mid understood and disrespected in this company. I spent all of my post degree life to get onto the Trainee psychological well-being practitioner programme which is highly competitive. After 7 months in the role I realised that the industry did not account for the cultural differences that ethnic diversity brings. This was apparent with my seniors not understanding my expression of understanding to my patients. There was no concern for clinician well-being and every day quickly Became a form of emotional drainage. My seniors didn’t seem to offer much support despite me reaching out and opening up. If you are reading this I would highly recommend finding an NHS employer especially for the TPWP role. I hope things change with this company as they are not doing a just service to the patient and an even worse job for the clinicians. 

Vita Health Group are a bizarre mix of private and public health services, centralised around a ‘Corporate’ team which also embodies their senior management, complaints investigation and speak up champion. The staff are incredible on the ‘ground’ and provide the best clinical experience they can, but poorly organised teams, lack of transparency and an inherently crooked culture at the most senior levels means complaints, concerns, even ideas to make systems run better are met with resistance and even bullying. Letters and reports would go months unsent, nothing is organised or linked properly and no one cares about anything but money and targets - the majority of the management team have no clinical experience or training and do not understand the legal or compliance protocols never mind ethical considerations of healthcare, leaving them running a truly horrible operation. 

No London weighted pay, poor compared to NHS trusts. Staff retention is so bad - people leave and come every week, its a very unusual atmosphere and poor staff morale.
Training is awful, often can go months without 1-1 supervision or in-service training - often they forget to put it in your diaries. When they do run it - its terrible last minute training that is disorganised and unhelpful.
The team leaders are hand selected by company, they pick young people with little clinical experience in order to mould them into "yes men" - all experienced physios get annoyed and overworked and leave after 6 months. The senior management team all live over 100+ miles away and make decisions from their laptop and never seen in person
They put you in random locations with no flexibility to change this - you are not a physio, you are just a number that gets placed to fill gaps and meet corporate targets. No positive feedback given, all moaning about targets

I am currently working as a remote triage case manager therefore I take calls from patients and manage them accordingly based on their presentation (refer to clinic, video assessment or further call etc.). 
I originally spent some of my time in clinic assessing / treating occ health patients however my personal circumstances changed and I no longer do this. This gave the role some variety which I do miss.
Management are very supportive and the people I've encountered are great. Very helpful.
I love being able to work from home as there is no stressful commute. 
The opportunity for CPD and development of clinical skills is however limited as this was a regular occurrence in previous jobs I've held.  

Aside from the benefit of working remotely, the role is highly unsatisfying in nearly every aspect. There is a lack of consistent managerial support, with frequent turnover of both managers and team members every 4–6 months. The workload is intense—seeing up to 12 patients a day with only a 30-minute lunch break—leaving little time for personal needs.

There are no regular pay reviews or opportunities for salary increases. Accountability is one-sided; staff are often blamed when issues arise, with little to no support from management. The culture prioritizes keeping upper management satisfied, often at the expense of employee well-being. This job has also had a significant impact on my mental health

Becoming more money focused and less client orientated

Reduced time to process work with clients before starting with another, especially with consistent changes in and by senior management 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Peer support is great, especially when feeling pressure. Line management also supportive but being pressurised by senior management to make money. Not good for a healthcare organisation

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Busy. Always working, limited time to look after your own mental health during work time

VHG is better in managing than most counselling departments I have worked in. They encourage self care which is refreshing. The pay is low but counselling usually is. Remote working is great but comes with it's complexities and the IT systems are awful.
Operational management were quite unprofessional with regards to offering a temp to perm contracts at interview and then going back on their word towards the end of contract. They take weeks to respond to emails and it all seems a logistical nightmare. There are even concerns of discrimination as ops management fob off particular staff more than others. Clinical management however are great.
