I was an inventory supervisor (later changed to area manager without any added responsibilities).  As a salaried employee the hours were far too long for the pay.  Most weeks it was 55-60 hours with travel maybe more depending on prep for the stores I would run.  The worse the economy, the better the job, sadly, because you get a better quality employee to stick around.  The biggest challenge beyond the hours and early mornings (often leaving at 3 AM for jobs) was that it was hard to keep good people and the key to a successful inventory was good people.  The higher level management (as in above the level of anyone who actually is in stores fairly often and who moved up through the company) think you can develop great counters but the dirty secret of the job is 90% of the folks who get hired (and almost anyone does) are never going to be fast enough to succeed at being a counter who gets consistent work by being on a core team like a dollar store, Rite Aid, etc.  And as the economy improved under Obama, we just kept losing more and more quality people and couldn't replace them.  Jobs got longer and longer, clients less pleased.  And then the high level management all became ex RGIS people who brought in their concepts which ran more people out of the company.  I can't imagine much has changed with the struggle of constant no shows with employees and keeping good ones.

most days we meet at our meeting place, usually around 4:15 sometimes earlier depending on how far we have to travel. The van is unsafe, only one headlight a week after the driver got a warning ticket, blinkers don't work and some of the seat belts also don't properly hook up and some other issues. Some of the managers are better than others, we have one that will help us out and show us how to do better and another manager who talks to you like your a kid and also talks about you to your co-workers behind your back which I find very unprofessional and just downright childish. I have no problems with my coworkers. Most seem like good hard working people.The hardest part of my job is having to get on my knees and count since they whine about you sitting.To be honest the most enjoyable part of the job is signing out.

Hands down the worst job i have had. Large portions of the job are unpaid had 15 hour days some days but people would only be paid for about 5 hours.
Unless you was a managers favourite then you would have extra hours put on to your pay. 

The company is very underhanded and has been known to rehire people who had been found guilty of fraudulent activity within the company. 

I got let go after 6 months at the company after being told i had passed my 3 month probation period in the job and the reason for letting me go was a failed probation.

You can expect to be very underpaid at this company and would not recommend this job to anyone unless you enjoy being unfairly treated. 

I've had some awful jobs but this certainly tops the pile. I'm still owed missing hours after numerous emails to what is a so called 'area manager' who doesn't know what to do. During my time here I spent most of my days stuck in a van , which is unpaid , traveling to jobs all round southern England to only get paid for 4-5 hours actual work but have been effectively on call and travelling for the same amount of time unpaid. Overall it's rubbish. The pay is poor for hours put in. The managers need social skills , they speak down to you which is demoralising at times. I wouldn't recommend this job to my worst enemy.

Overworked & underpaid, get given 5 pound a night to stay overnight, at services, where you’ll struggle to get a bottle of water and a chocolate bar for less then a fiver.  Next to no money for travel or overnight allowances. Managers get given a job purely because they drive and they don’t wanna pay a counter a drivers wage too when they could just get someone who is salaried to do the driving. The harder you work & more efficiently you work, you get paid less. 

There is a lot of Favoritism on this job.New employee don't get put on the schedule as much as old ones. Sometimes you don't work for a whole week.The trading that they provide you with is nothing like when you get in the stores and they expect you to be fast and productive and that determines how you get on the schedule.

Enjoy working with teams and varied customer accounts. I enjoy the travelling aspect and no 2 days are the same. It can be challenging and the life work balance requires being away from home but I've never experienced a career as rewarding. Travel across UK and Europe.

Cold, treated like school kids

Boring , boring and more boring

Good job for kids or adults without responsibilities. When I was there it was 0 hr contracts for most people. Travelling around the country and into Europe was the best part of the job.  Targets can be high in some stores and depends on what area u get to work in if targets are hot easier  

Spend more time travelling than working so pay was abissmal not a job for someone who has their own rent and bills to pay as you wont ever make enough to cover bills morw suited to school leavers or thoae still living with parents
