Although the job at wards is in its self a good job the management couldn't care less for the drivers who work there, they waste money left right and centre on stupid things but watch the drivers like a hawk,  in the 18 months I worked there I never felt secure in my job, they lay drivers off when it's quite, last Christmas we never even had a thank you let alone a Christmas box , the company decided to shut down over the Christmas period and if you hadn't book holidays you didn't get paid,  luckily I had booked holidays but lots of drivers didn't as they were expecting to work, I thought this was shocking from a company to do. I wouldn't recommend working here to anyone, the only up side is the drivers and and machine drivers are a friendly lot who I have a lot if time for, shame the management weren't the same. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
The people and the money. If you help them out they'll help you out.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
On hazardous,  theres a lot of packing and preparing your own load. You will usually have to make sure you have the right equipment to do this and you will load it yourself too.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Mostly good. There's people on the warehousing side that don't seem to learn to do things the efficient way.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Excellent, early starts, you can break its back by 10am. If you want the extra hours theres usually jobs they can bring forward.

Only worked there 2 months. Took me that long to suss them out. Called the management out and got sacked. If you value your life and sanity stear well clear. You are not appreciated for what you do, apart from getting paid. Never have I worked in such a toxic environment before. If the environment agencies paid any of their sites a visit, I'm positive they would be fined, let alone closed down. Even "FELLOW" drivers have a similar toxic trait, especially if they are the chosen ones. True, if you get to two years employment, you are a long term server. Expect the dreaded envelope or email at any time. 

I worked as the loading shovel operator from Jan 2020 to Jan 2023 at their Chesterfield site . Only leaving because of redundancy due to a restructuring of the waste dept . Monday to Friday from 6.45 until 16.30 with regular overtime if you wanted it . I didnt work Saturdays although you could if you wanted . Really enjoyed my time there , site management very good , all the lads on the site are a great bunch to work with too . 
 

Extremely hostile company to work for as a HGV driver you are demanded to work all hours they throw at you due to being extremely busy and as soon as the company go slack they will hand you a envelope terminating your contract. Management/Planners are horrendous and are at war with Drivers on a daily basis their is no team cohesion here what so ever its them against you and you are made to feel like you are worthless every day. AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Decent vehicles, wages always paid on time and always room to progress through the company

Odd tosser but you get that everywhere. Morale isn't brilliant but you make the best of it

2 to 3 deliveries/collections, lot of waiting in queues to tip/load

I learned about non ferrous coming from a environment which I didn’t know nothing about it and learned how to drive 360s and telehandler the workforce is a good team and understanding just shame about the whole board of directors and management they do not care about safety and wellbeing the constant shouting and bullying and low wages are a insult constantly not paying hours worked

Worked here exactly 3 months I left a job to start as a class 1 bulk tipper driver.
Got no idea I was going to be let go until the day they gave me an envelope saying 
Thank you for your excellent service but off you go !!!!!!! 2 weeks before Christmas.
Don’t work here if u want any security.

Wards are a joke they sack people who ever has took time off during the corona virus pandemic the site manager is a joke told us we had to take our dust masks home and wash them because he wasn’t buying anymore no Ppe given full place is corrupt site manager leaves site all the time. Sheds full of asbestos that they make you sort scrap out in, they wouldn’t be bothered if they killed you don’t work there
