Having worked for Ward for over a year now, I think I have a good idea about what they truly are, which is a long way from the professional, caring and enlightened impression they try so hard to portray.

Working on site you are simply treated with contempt. Ops managers avoid you. Payroll never answer emails. HR just don't know what they are doing and if you impress your site's client, you are rewarded by... Erm?.... Oh yeah. You are never given credit or respect for a job well done. Ever.

The Wards never seem to promote from within the company and no matter how many internal promotions or transfers you apply for, your hard work means nothing, as new staff are constantly employed above you! Do a good job on site and they will leave you there forever. Do a poor job and you'll be 'promoted' into the next better paid or more desirable job that comes along. Seriously.

Some of the guys I work with haven't had a pay rise in 7 years even though the client told me they pay a an invoice to Ward which has INCREASED every year!

There are so many managers and "associate directors", despite a relatively small workforce, a trip to head office looks like a luxury car show with an insane fleet of company cars..... but, try to speak to anyone in authority, about any issue at all, and these "managers" all seem to feel themselves far to important to speak to horrid front line plebs.

I could go on for hours. But simply be warned:

Don't listen to the wonderful pitch they may spin, Ward Security is a company to avoid.

Working for Ward Belgravia ( Security) was a dream come true at first. Unfortunately the Operations manager who interviewed me was fired which left me optimistic about my future career within the company. During my time at ward, I met some really nice professionals in many different industries. Atypical day would start with me opening the business, turning on the computers and logging in to the data base, turning on the telephones. Arranging the visitors and contractors log books. Assisting the cleaners with keys so that they are able to clean the building. Once front of house is open I would sit behind my desk and I would greet all people coming in to the building and be ready to assist them with anything they need. Shortly after the post would arrive and it would be my duty to sort all mail and deliver it to the correct companies. No two days are the same, as a relief receptionist i had to train and then work on many different sites. I definitely learned a lot more about London and was able to manage my time more efficiently. the most enjoyable part of the job was making new contacts, being able to building strong relationships with the regular visitors, company managers and building managers. I have been very lucky to form some strong friendships with some of my co workers and even though I don't work for Ward anymore we still keep in touch. Having this job gave me a new confidence in myself and since then, I have had many interviews with other elite companies.

I have been working for Ward Security for just over a year now and have not had a bad experience, so can only have good words on them.

From when I applied on the company website through their online form, I was contacted immediately by email and then a person from recruitment called me to say my application would be looked at.  I then got within 1 day an email saying i had been selected for an interview.  I met the manager who gave me a good overview of the company and what to expect for the job i had applied for.

As soon as i was successful i recieved the company's induction including videos to watch, and all the information to help me before i started.

i had 2 days training on the site where i learned the assignment instructions and the general requirements of the site.  i work in a good team where everyone works well together and the customers are happy.  i relly enjoy working for Wards and have worked in some larger security firms who don't treat you like a person.

i am now getting the chance to go on their leaders programme which i am really looking forward to so i can progress in the firm.

i get a good shift pattern, have used my benefits like perkbox and my manager meets with me regularly to discuss any things i might need help with.  i have no intention of leaving as i have not met many companys which give you as much as wards do and i enjoy my job.

Unlocked the Building early morning.
Every Monday put out signs to inform the tenants in the building Fire Alarm Testing at 11.30.
Meet and greet all into the Building with a "Good Morning and a smile"
Check emails on computer.
CCTV Monitor Camera's were still all working.
Prepare Visitors, contractors signing in books on Reception desk.
What I learn't was to question all visitors who came into the Building but in a polite way. Tenants would email me a list of names, day before on who they were expecting to come in. If visitors were not on the list I would phone the tenants to get permission to let the person in.
I absolutely loved my Job in London and definitely would of still been there if we hadn't relocated to Devon. 
I got on very well with all my Managers as they knew if any problems within the building whether a Health & Safety issue that I would report straight away.
Hardest part of the job was chasing school children playing football in our car park especially with expensive cars around. 

The most enjoyable part of the job - far too many too list I loved being in work, as I lived so far away from work, the tenants thought I was crazy getting up at 4.30 am every morning to unlock the building for them at 6.30 am and still had a smile on my face.

The current location where I am situated requires me to interact with both tenants and high profile visitors to the company's located in the building. I am required to be very flexible in dealing with many different customers attending site.The day to day management of the site is left to me to organise and to meet the needs of the site and tenants. The culture in the work place is very much all working towards achieving the best possible results for both tenants, clients and visitors to the business, located in the building. During my time at this building I have learned how to develop and provide a detailed disaster recovery plan. with supporting guides such as snow and ice plans. The hardest part of the current roll I have is now not being able to further influence the development of the service provided on site.The most enjoyable part of working in the current location is by far the tenants within the building who all have a very positive can do attitude

Worst company I have ever worked for. All staff and management do is act worse than kids in a playground. The turnover of managers is out of this world. You never have the same manager from 1 month to the next hence why none of them ever really care about their staff and come in bad mouthing the last managers and any staff that may have left because they were fed up of the nonsense. They allow certain staff to constantly violate and go against procedures then either sack of remove another person from their site for virtually nothing. They never address any issues of conflict between staff members they would rather try and put a band aid on the issue instead of trying to resolve it hence why the issues always end up coming to a head eventually. I could go on and on....
Only work for these people if you enjoy feeling annoyed on a daily basis. Because as you wake up and remember you have to go to work for these people any good mood you may have been in will evaporate instantly. 

I was unfortunate to be Tupe’d over to Ward - having been employed by previous employer for over 17 years . 

It became very obvious for the short time I worked for Ward that there was a vindictive and aggressive move to oust me from my position. I was constantly monitored for performance and the slightest issues that arose were  accumulated into disciplinary matters that basically had no justification . 

The  HR process they took to address issues is a tedious and rigged affair conducted by people who you would not want be in your corner as their objective is safeguarding of the company (which they do very well) which then down shot is that you as the victim will not come out of this well . 

 Needless to say there was no option for other than to move on . 

The whole time working for this company was a miserable experience and I would say be very careful of the wolf that masquerades in sheep clothing because they make out they are there for you - but I can assure you this is not the case . 

I have worked at Ward Security for over a year now, and can honestly say, in my whole career this is the best company I have worked for.  

The whole company approach is you are one of the family and David and Kevin Ward do make you feel like you are.  

I have been very satisfied in my job, have always been given support by my manager and have been supported when I have needed it.  I have achieved more in the year I have worked for Ward Security and have had the great opportunity to work with and meet some great people.

I think I would say to any of the poor reviewers to watch this space, as I have certainly seen a change in how employees are treated and the style of managers which now represent the company, over the last 12 months and believe there is  more to come.

I for one, have no complaints about this company and would highly recommend joining a fast growing company who still maintains that personal touch of being one of a big family.

I would communicate with the Officer on shift as part of the handover, I would write down any instructions from the manager or other stuff members, i would also verbally instruct. I learnt how to supervise and train staff, the managers would let me know if someone was coming out of working hours or they would put it on the pc office diary.

With co workers we would cover each other if needed and leave instructions in sudden changes. the hardest part of the Job is when the fire panel is set off by pressure within the servers and plant room, I would then follow the escalation procedure of calling the Site Engineer then managers if no answer and at the same time would go and see if the servers needed deactivating.
I enjoyed working with everyone and every day was enjoyable, i had my own desk and CCTV monitors in the reception, Internet and Tv was available to us and was always a good thing

1. These sharks will under pay you without fail and play it off as if they unaware its happening even after bringing the same issue to them repeatedly by multiple staff. ( Mine alone was £800 in 7 months skimmed off the top)

2. Management are useless, have no resolve and no back bone. You will get no response to various e-mails ranging from welfare issues to pay but as soon as you submit something that will directly effect them, then like magic you will get a response within minutes.

3. Booking holiday is a plague to these people.

4. Promotion is a myth/fairy tale

5. The company hires you under one name and then changes the company name so you will be placed in a staging period and the 'new' company will not have to pay pension contributions. (Sounds illegal but the HMRC states it is not).

This is a fraction of the overall issues as you will undoubtedly get more from other sites.
