This place is great if your into politics, wokeness and if you like a council type environment but if your looking for a commercial, fast paced and forward thinking organisation then this is not the place for you.

The organisation has a good mission and has lots of good and passionate people who really are there to make a difference but on the other hand, there are a lot of clique's with the middle management level with people who have been in their positions for decades resulting in a lot of power plays etc but because there is a lack of commercial focus (as the money comes in regardless) it means the outcome is often focused more on politics then driving performance etc (good example is the type of job roles they advertised, rather then focus on getting more people for trade teams or neighbourhood teams then will instead focus on diversity officers etc) 

Also to beware that due to the wokeness agenda, promotions/jobs/committee members are not always filled by the best candidate (openly admitted by senior Exec members) which has a massive impact on performance and moral in certain areas and unlike a private sector company which could not afford to have such disruption, it does impact WHG in the same way due to the business model (money comes in regardless of performance) 

If your going for a job here, best advise, don't try and change things up, just keep your head down and hope you wont be noticed. They say they want innovation but if you do this, you will not last!


I undertook a 3-month maternity cover role and was welcomed with open arms into the organisation. I was humbled by the welcome I received, not only personally but professionally. I was given the opportunity to learn new process and systems which helped my development. I was given permission to approach teams in a new way to  help improve communications between business areas, and would have relished the opportunity to stay. I was sad to leave when my assignment came to a close. A great team throughout, specifically the MarComms guys. Thank you.

Great company at first but now it’s a revolving door for employees. Job is stressful which caused me to have my own health issues. Enjoyed my time in the call centre, great team and managers but when I changed jobs I was really left to get on with it without the help and support I had been promised, hence the stress

very good company to work with, it does get stressfull at times and you have micromanaging but the team does alot of activities and gets on well with everyone. 

favouritism is a culture in that workplace so know the right people.

Everyone is a grafter. 
Management are people not robots.
Work hard play harder. 
no regrets experienced.

Enjoy charity events and company wide celebrations

Has to be one of the worst places I have worked at. The managers didn’t care, you’d then go to HR who also didn’t care and always brushed everything off as nothing had happened. They sure as don’t care about your physical and mental health 

You only get on in the business of you are a yes person and do overtime. Not flexible when it comes to work life balance.  Constant staff turnover. 
No support from line managers, toxic environment 

Works around life balance very straight forward, can be tough at times but if you know your job your be fine. Different areas every day so enjoyable some management think there above but ignore and keep yourself grounded 

Enjoy working here, but can be clicky! Fast paced in some areas and ok in others.

It can be competitive but have mentors to help you every step of the way 

In general it’s an ok job but needs to up the pay for cost of living. I quite enjoy working at WHG, I do enjoy my job as an gas engineer in general and very happy working using my own initiative.
