My primary role is to act as a business partner for the Business Units I look after. Preparing Quartley Forecasts, 3 Year strategic plans and providing analysis support to the business such as product profitibility.

Additionally, I prepare the Management Accounts.

I managed a team of 2.

The most enjoyable part of the job is the forecasting and analysis part. It is an opportunity for myself to support and add value for the business.

The reason for looking the next opportunity is my time on supporting the business and adding commercial value is not as much as I would like compared to my previous roles. A primary reason is spending time preparing the mgt accounts and it doesn't allow me to be the true Business Partner I have done in previous roles.

I loved being given the chance to manage a team.  Jumping from a customer service advisory to a team leader then eventually customer service manager was a little challenging.  However i successfully ran a team of 12 conducting monthly 121 meetings, telephone coaching and anual appraisals.

I loved my team.  The people that work for Wolters Kluwer are a great bunch.

There were times I wish the powers that be had asked for customer service for feedback or allowed us to have an input to any changes made.  I truly believe customer service is the back bone of most companies and without them the company wouldnt be a success.

The job was insecure from the start - employed initially on a 9 month contract, which was extended twice. 

Line management and colleagues supportive at all times, but senior management held a 'town hall meeting' quite early on when they made it clear the company had been losing money for years and we needed to turn this around. There was talk about an office move for months and we knew senior management wanted to outsource editorial... which it eventually did! Out of work at that point, along with the other editors.

Was a coordinator for their journals. Looking back, the rates their charging for access to these journals were unethical and all that work was done on the backs of low paid coordinators like myself and editors and authors in the medical field who worked for free.

I remember being called a veteran, having been there only a year. Low wages meant people didn't stay around once they were confident with their skills.

The location of the offices were great, lovely view and canteen area and we were allowed 1 day WFH which was appreciated

Typical day at work would be sat around my team providing technical support to customers.

I learned how to technically advise clients over the phone to come to a quick fix solution.

Management were always on hand to help and advise.

Co-workers were always supportive and there to help.

Hardest parts of the job were advising exasperated clients. 

Most enjoyable parts were finding quick fix solutions.

unpleasant job... making 80 - 100 uninvited calls a day to companies actively trying to stop you calling.

Management often seems detached from specific markets and lacks understanding in certain cases, and the overall structure of the company is quiet divisive between different teams that are meant to be working together.

Overall work life balance is very good, salaries are somewhere just below the industry standard.

I believe WK is a nice stable company with many employees working there for 25 years plus! It is the most flexible/ laidback company i ever worked for with a posibility to work from home which is amazing.

I've learned a lot during my internships at Wolters Kluwer, the staff have always been exceptionally friendly and helpful showing me the ropes and the enjoyment of being able to learn what life is like within a company as an intern was well worth the trip to London, would love to come back and do a third stint this summer.

No job security.   Poor product and service meant appointments hard to come by.  Very boring, soul destroying work. Always felt expendable.   No career path.    System didn’t support incoming interest.   Basically cold calling, with no decent inroads to success.
