You put your heart and soul into a place with very little reward and often face demotion - there doesn’t seem to be any loyalty to hardworking employees and it’s a shame because there are some genuinely lovely staff who want to progress and become ambassadors for the company! Retail is hard but working at Yours has become a challenge for physical and mental health, there’s so much to do that you can often find yourself buried in tasks and then take it home with you worrying about how much you have to do the next day. Lately the job has become very task orientated, you will find yourself one afternoon with only 2 members of staff marking down products, re-pricing items, filling gaps, frantically trying to finish a delivery, doing a full window change,  steaming and dressing mannequins, doing a survey, putting stock away, tidying and cleaning, packing orders for the internet all whilst trying to remain open and free for all customers who need help, and when you stay late or start early you are told that a good member of management would prioritise and get it all done within the allotted time. It’s just simply not possible, which leads to an unhealthy home/life balance.
I have read a lot of comments about bullying in the workplace and cliques - I never once experienced this and have instead met some amazing people. Store Managers have always been very accommodating and supportive, Higher Management are friendly and have good ideas however don’t really invest in your personal development unless you are with a Union or it suits them. Ultimately they are only interested in the store taking money and are quick to blame a lack of customer service when the store doesn’t do well even if the same people are in when the store does exceptionally well. 
Staff members at head office have become either unresponsive or unhelpful and at times can often make store managers feel undermined or witless for asking a question. 
Although flexible working is an option in this company it is not wise to ask for it so if you are not prepared to be on a 4 hour contract working up to 30 hours a week on ANY day at ANY time then don’t apply. 
If you are applying for a management position understand that you will be told one thing by one person and another thing by someone else; you will never merchandise how you want- they say there are not many guidelines but there are and be prepared for higher management to come in and rip your store apart to their taste even when your store is making money; You aren’t allowed Mondays, Fridays or Saturdays off; There is no training - you make mistakes and learn from them; The job is now very physical so don’t apply if you suffer with back or joint pain, you will be on your feet for 9 hours with a 30 minute break and then spend your shift bending in and out of boxes ALL day and packing and folding clothes for orders and warehouse returns. 
Customers have been brilliant rays of sunshine that keep you smiling throughout the day- Regulars entertain you with funny stories and always spend money on something be it £7 or £70, but unfortunately it’s these customers who have kept the stores going that now feel alienated when shopping in store as staff levels have become so minimal and tasking has become overwhelming so you can’t stop and talk to anyone. 
Enticing posters showcase some of our best stock but it’s NEVER available in store, so you have to let down customers constantly when they come in asking for the clothes on the picture, we do have the facility to order the items but most people who are still shopping want to make quick, easy purchases. We’ve already lost most of our customers to internet shopping so we should have the product available in store for those customers who are keeping the shops open. You will also spend quite a lot of time on the phone to customers who have ordered online and have had an issue with the delivery. It’s not a BAD place to work, but it’s not easy and you will come home tired and achy and often burnt out. 


PROS:
- Don’t actually need a degree to do this job, contrary to the job description. Great for somebody straight out of school, bad for somebody who ticks all the boxes and still earns the same as someone less qualified.

CONS:
In relation to design department:
- Untrained, inexperienced management that allows toxic work culture. If what I witnessed would have happened in another company, there would have been a lot of disciplinary action being taken against certain members.
- Zero support in the job role. No goal setting, monitoring of progress. I worked there for over a year and was only personally seen 3 times, quite literally nobody cares. 
- Job role is misleading; it is not a design role but plain old artworking 98% of the time. You will be bored, you will not design anything and yet more and more juniors will be hired to end up doing nothing majority of the time. The current hierarchy is that 2 or 3 people design everything and everybody else just copies translated text into the designs for the majority of the working day. 2 or 3 people for sure could leave and not be replaced and everyone will still not have enough work to do.
- No chance for further training or growth within the role, probably because there are way too many ‘designers’ in one team. When most people start in the department, they are ignored by management and left on their own/left depending on everyone else in the team to be taught how to do the job.
- No opportunity of a pay rise and/or a promotion (at least not in the design department).
- As it happens with most in-house design roles, other departments have 0 understanding of what graphic designers do (have been asked several times, though the clue is in the name?) which leads to last minute requests and probably explains the low pay situation. 

In general:
- Low pay, even by Peterborough standards.
- No sick pay, or rather ‘sick pay at manager’s discretion’.
- The yearly bonus is only accessible through completing two yearly store visits/working in a warehouse. Not really a bonus/employee reward/sign of appreciation if you can only get it through jumping some pretty unnecessary hoops.
- No flexible working time/hours (unless you're best buds with the manager).
- VERY high staff turnaround, which speaks volumes. Most people have either been with the company from the beginning, or have worked there for under a year. 
- If you’re female (and 99% of employees in the head office are), you will be called a ‘girl’ by every single senior male employee no matter what.
- Toxic work environment. One is always within an earshot of managers openly discussing prior and current employees in an unfavourable way. A lot of un-pc conversations are held on a regular basis quite loudly within the office, so if you’re bigoted this may be the place for you!
- Rife favouritism. This is the type of company where if you’re not the same as the others, you will stick out and will be perceived as a problem.
- Unless you’re a manager, or deemed as important, you will have to cover reception for 30mins once every month or so. Why? Because the company is too cheap to hire a second receptionist. It’s quite degrading and unprofessional to have random employees not only answering the phone, but meeting guests and clients. This does not reflect well on the company and the fact that everybody knows that everybody hates covering reception, yet nothing is done about that, speaks volumes about employee appreciation.
- Same music playlist playing non-stop throughout the day. If you’re down with migraines or have a very generic taste in music, this may be the place for you!

At first, I really enjoyed working there. The staff that trained me were lovely and I was excited to start at my new job and give it my all.
Then the manager came back from holiday and I felt like I was walking on eggshells. Whether it be the way I was folding clothes, serving the customers or customer service, I always felt like I was trying so hard and the manager didn't always seem happy with my work.

The manager said some comments that made me feel sad, embarrassed, anxious and insecure to the point I would sometimes make excuses to go to the back of the store when there was another member of staff on the shop floor, to cry. This is the reason I left. When I joined, I openly spoke about my anxiety and how it was non existent when I joined, it all came back when these events happened and I knew I had to leave and put myself first for once.

I since attempted to contact head office and was told to contact various people that were actually impossible to contact. I feel like my situation was not taken seriously and was left feeling that this company have no interest in their employees emotional and mental well being due to working for their company. I would hate for another young girl to join this store and be made to feel how I felt on multiple occasions, dreading going into work every morning. 

Since I left, I have joined a company that praise me on a daily basis and haven't had a finger to point at me yet. My anxiety is now back to normal which is near enough non-existent once again. I know I made the right choice in leaving Yours Clothing.  I am regularly praised for the hard work I put into my job. So I know for sure I am not the problem or my new employer would have the same opinion of me.

Don’t work for this company. The only good things about it is the discount. Managers are barely allowed a saturday off unless it’s booked as holiday and even then you’re only allowed a certain amount. The clothing is great but the prices have increased so much that footfall is lower than ever but they still blame management if they don’t reach their targets. Anyone above me spoke to me like I was an idiot and like I couldn’t do my job properly, I wasn’t trusted to do things like rotas or holiday, I don’t even know why I was a deputy Manager tbh. There is no training, no support, no reviews, the only thing they do correctly is disciplines because they seem to love telling people off. All day every day you get about 20 emails to read and listen to, they expect you to do this off the shop floor but how can you when you don’t have the staff and also they contradict themselves by saying you should be on the shop floor all the time, so you have to read emails, serve customers, and they insist you basically hound customers into buying something, take delivery in and finish it, which comes every single day, and you either get 2 boxes or 25 boxes and you have to hang, tag and put out before the day is over which isn’t easy when they say you have to put customers first. The retail director says one thing and your am says another. There is no structure in this company. They do not care about their employees, only care about taking money. It’s exhausting and I’m so glad I’m not there anymore. Never work in a job that makes you cry 3-4 times a week !!

Every day is different - not always in a good way but that's true of any job.  Worked with a pretty good team the majority of the time.  The company are passionate about delivering fashion to plus size ladies and men - sometimes their passion needs to be redirected to make the employees lives a little easier.  We were passionate about delivering great customer service which we always did - however trying to keep on top of the work load - especially when the store was doing well - was somewhat a challenge at times.  Little to no training is provided, even for new stores who are opening which is unfair on the new teams joining the company.  The salary isn't great but it's not the worst I've ever had...you need to negotiate your salary well before you accept the job...there's always wiggle room for a little bit more!  Senior management are approachable, the CEO is still very involved in the company and makes visits every year to as many stores as he can.  The hardest part of the job was work life balance - make sure you have a structured supportive team - otherwise you'll have little life to yourself!  The most enjoyable part of the job - meeting new people every single day and coming away from the job with new friends....customers and team.  On the whole this isn't the worst company I've ever worked for - but it has a way to go to ensure that it's current staff feel appreciated, which sometimes with the rapid growth of the company, sometimes feel like they are forgotton.

Worked at Yours for many years, no day is the same - lots of different tasks daily, customers needs change daily, store and business is fast paced. A lot of training and feedback on the job rather than formal work books and meetings etc, means that we get it right next time rather than waiting to be told 
Regular updates on how the business and your store is performing, keeps us on track, commercial information to assist you to make the store the best it can be - best sellers, promos, lay out guidance. Lots of communication through out the week from Our AM, Retail Director and Retail ops department - you can’t go wrong as everything is clearly delivered verbally and in written format. If you need further help and support you always have this from anyone in senior management, you just need to ask. Whilst at Yours I have learnt about the product, bra fit, training and developing team, managing team, commercial product placement and problem solving. The culture is fast paced, sales driven and customer focused - as is all retail. Best part of the job is the people I work with and for, the customers, the product and knowing that as a team we are adding value to the business and the customer daily, there can be challenges along the way - but that has been the same in every job for every person. If you like a varied, fast paced, people focussed environment then Yours is defo for you!


Rarely get the hours CONTRACTED. 
Manager gave my phone number to other members of staff without my permission now I get relentless calls for covers.
In my interview I was ensured overtime yet over 25 hours of overtime goes to one person in the same position as I am for the same amount of time as I’ve been.
Favouritism between the manager and whoever decides to leave her gifts on the staff table for no apparent reason. 
Sarcasm and a temper goes a long way in the managers eyes as far as speaking to staff as horrendously as she can, again for no apparent reason. 
There’s no way I get paid enough on minimum wage to deal with being spoken to like that. 
I can go on for hours talking about the horrific behaviour displayed in this store but I’ll finish with this, you are forced to buy clothing to promote the brand, if you have bought less clothes than any other staff member then you get singled out and made to feel inferior, I refuse to buy clothes that I wouldn’t personally wear. If this had been disclosed in the interview process it might have been a different story, sorry to ramble on but I’m appalled with this store and I wanted to make it clear to other people what this brand can be like, not the happy, chatty facade they put on in the interview process. 
Also girls/guys don’t be fooled or forced in to buying clothes from there as an email came in for head office a few weeks ago saying you didn’t have to buy the clothes.

Yours clothing was probably the worst job I’ve ever had, there was a lack of enthusiasm from management and bullying towards certain members of staff (in a few cases staff wanted or did leave because of it.)
Management also expected you to do jobs that were not in your job role eg, open and close the shop. Manager in shop was very pushy towards staff and not sympathetic or reasonable when staff had problems.
Management also expected too much from staff and wouldn’t get any rewards or a simple thanks for helping out. Management would contact on days off with irrelevant information that could be sorted out when returning to work. Manager would talk behind staffs back about other members of staff and when confronted would lie and blame other staff. Injuries wouldn’t be written in accident book because manager “couldn’t be bothered filling in forms” and knew the area manager would be on her back.  Items would be stolen from the shop by shoplifters and manager wouldn’t tell area manager and would act clueless when asked about missing items. Area manager was manipulative and rude towards staff, she acted like you were just another employee and not an actual human, staff would get really upset over her and her attitude towards them and it would knock there confidence. I wouldn’t advise anyone to work for this company. 


I had the pleasure of working as a Sales Assistant at Yours Clothing, and I can genuinely say it was an incredibly positive and rewarding experience. From the moment I joined the team, I felt welcomed and supported by both my colleagues and management. The training provided was comprehensive and hands-on, ensuring that I was well-prepared to assist customers effectively and confidently.

The company places a strong emphasis on customer satisfaction, and it was fulfilling to help customers find stylish, comfortable clothing that made them feel fantastic. The extensive range of plus-size fashion catered to a variety of tastes and preferences, making it easy to meet the diverse needs of our clientele.

What stood out the most was the inclusive and empowering work environment. Everyone's contributions were valued, and there was a genuine sense of camaraderie among the team. The management was approachable and always open to feedback, which fostered a positive atmosphere and continuous improvement.

Overall, my time at Yours Clothing was an enriching experience that allowed me to grow both personally and professionally. I highly recommend Yours Clothing not only for their fantastic fashion but also as a wonderful place to work where you can truly make a difference.

Dealing with difficult customers on a daily basis can be hard on you and your work ethic, however working for Yours Clothing Ltd. it makes dealing with these customers better and another member of the team are there to help you or if you have made a mistake then a member of management will comfort you and put you at ease. 

Working for this company has really shown how much of a team player we are, all working together in different ways to get the tasks at hand done, whether it is dealing with the launch of a sale or getting an eight box delivery.

The hardest part of the job? i believe there isn't one, having good days and bad days is part of working in retail and this is one of the best companies i have worked for, not only because of the people I work with but also because of the customers. Due to the company having a particular target audience we get usuals that come in from once a week to once every couple of months, it's these customers that I get to know, joke around with and make the day a lot easier.

Being in a job that allows you to build the confidence of people that either don't have any or very little and seeing them leave with a smile on their face makes all the hard work worth while.
