Shifts are flexible and picked up through an app and pay is monthly, which is not ideal for the amount of shifts you can potentially pick up for long periods of the year.

No proper management and poor communication. Staff are expected to essentially preform a supervisor role at venues ensuring everyone gets home ok which can be a nightmare with calibre of staff they take on with no common sense, some venues you will be doing check ins for over 30 staff members.

Shift lengths vary greatly from 4 hours to 17, throw in the travel time and some shifts can literally have you out of the house for 24 hours but the shifts are all optional.

The venue managers are have a tendency to be rude and lazy making the Arc staff pretty much everything while they gossip about love island or who is sleeping with who. It is common for site managers to swear shout and try and humiliate staff, there even seems to be a racism probably at a few of the venues.

There is no proper procedure to raise grievances for a particular venue you either just lose out on shifts or hope that you don't run into the same staff again.

Often no food is provided so if you don't bring something then you go hungry, also always bring water because the buses can get ridiculously hot .

Behavior on the bus often quite poor and with no discipline implimented for repeat offenders.

Staff often on drink and drugs, the Arc management don't care about this unless the venue makes a complaint, seriously all Arc care about is hitting the staffing levels and not much else.  

If you do get on the wrong side of the Arc managers they simply don't give you any more shifts which is not up for discussion, they won't even sack you just stop giving you shifts.

Management is not that bad and they’re nice, friendly and respectful bunch. But the main problem is I don’t think the salary is enough to live on and disappointedly it’s monthly pay. I don’t want to feel unemployed while employed that just psychologically distressing. They keep on giving jobs that not my geographical area and will expect me to go Harlow, Stevenage where it’s all grass and barely transportation available on road at least try provide a transport by anyhow

It’s hard to pay bills on time and keep the cub boards stocked when it’s monthly payment they do and it effects people mental wellbeing. Why not be reasonable and helpful by weekly or two weeks pay. Put some thought about others because it makes living suicidal. 

When you apply for a shift they’re not quick enough to schedule you and do see it but ignore your existence meaning they delay time by overlapping your other commitments and this just impacts your other commitments. Meanwhile they will desperately post jobs and encourage people to apply but not bothered to authorities it. I just don’t understand...  

Try sort out the payment by two weeks or weekly because it threatens people health and liveshood  Of course I dont want to be feeling unemployed if I am employed. And try to book people shifts more quickly and give response by keeping up with the pace. Sometimes you denial candidates who are serious for job rather aiming for candidates who are not serious with no show up or time wasting! 

It's not great. Generally work varies from shift to shift, but can be as little as 3 hours and sometimes as long as 13 hours. There is no typical day, since each event is different that the last and working with the same people on different shifts is uncommon.
Sure you will learn how to manage a cash register, serve cooked foods and drinks, and if you want to you can go into cooking and waiter work. However, you are doing so at a job with no concrete rhythm, whereas a part time job would be forced to give you set hours a week.
The management is okay, they're understanding but also as strict as they need to be since their company is being employed so they have to look good.
The workplace culture is very weird honestly. Since the people you work with from shift to shift are often completely different, people aren't particularly friendly simply because they don't have time to make new friends each shift. Not only that, but there is a divide between those who are working there to get a little bit of extra money and those who are working there trying to desperately do as many shifts as possible.
The hardest part of the job is knowing that there may be a month where there are zero shifts available and you can not earn any money, that and sometimes you have to take shifts which involve 12+ hours of work with 3+ hours of transport there and back.
As for the most enjoyable part? I mean I didn't really enjoy to much of it. I did it because I needed to.

Worked for Arc earlier in the year and despite obvious problems with the company, it was alright except for the fact that they employ literally anyone which results in seriously poor quality staff.  Venue managers so sick off receiving such incompetent staff everyone's tarred with the same brush, so you will often face micromanagement and abuse from venue managers even if you are competent at the job.  There is no way of raising a formal complaint about a client as it's a one way street, they're only interested in pleasing the client, not investigating clients for mistreatment of staff (which would result in Arc losing contracts).

During a temporary reduction in employment over the winter I re-registered and have had to cancel every single shift I signed up for due to Arc changing finishing times without warning or explanation.  I am left struggling to pay bills due to their disorganisation, no one ever apologises.  I also had 2 shifts at Leeds Arena cancelled with no explanation or apology, meaning a total of 5 full days of work lost right before Christmas, which no one needs.

Shifts with arc were never the best given the abuse of staff from venue managers and total lack of health and safety, but since I rejoined things seem to have gone rapidly downhill.

Job roles will vary on arrival at stadium/venue and may include bartending, waitressing and betting operations, deeming this role an extremely exciting one for adventurous candidates. It's a profoundly demanding job particularly in light of working busy and popular events such as the rugby, football and concerts etc, however it's an amazing opportunity to exemplify your customer service skills and meet new people! There is always a member of management on each stall (supervisor/team leader), so help is never far away should it be needed. The workplace culture is typically enlivened by alcohol so ID checks and adhering to rules are paramount in upholding safety of both customers and colleagues. The hardest part of the job is definitely the customer demand and working under such pressure with long hours. In a 10 hour shift, there is barely time for a toilet break. Opposing this, it's an extremely enjoyable atmosphere that helps you acquire new skills breathtakingly fast and benefits your CV in many aspects of experience. A meal is also provided free of charge by management. If you love a demanding role with a plethora of opportunities to enhance your individualistic skills - this is the job for you!!

I worked for the agency before the pandemic hit so can not comment too much on current procedures etc, but overall I really enjoyed my time with them. I worked at various locations across Sheffield and Manchester and the management for both cities were always great, really helpful and would always give you a hand if needed. 
The job is perfect for students (I  was a student while with them) and people starting out in hospitality, mainly because you are able to work around your schedule and work, and it really does give you a wide range of experiences across the sector I did many things from working behind the bar of football stadiums to leading my own bar for the Spice Girls gigs in 2019. It really does give you a taste of hospitality and of its fast pace and unsociable hours. 
I think the money you earn really does reflect the hospitality industry and how much you make, certain roles and venues you earn more some you earn less it's as simple as that.
Wouldn't recommend for someone looking for this as their full-time job and only income as shifts are not always there or guaranteed.
But overall my experience from the application process to leaving was great would defiantly recommend. 

Will get to work in many different places, useful for newbies to gain some experience and apply for other jobs with said experience. 
A good shift depends on your luck that day, nothing else. Have worked with some really kind supervisors, have also worked with some not so nice managers . 
The only advantage is you can choose your shift - which is helpful for students and folks looking for extra cash. 

One major con is their pay schedule and their payslip is downright confusing. Even if you keep track of the hours you worked the entire month - which itself is difficult, the hours you have calculated will vary slightly. Moreover they also tend to manipulate the hours in your payslip, i.e reduce a couple of hours. This is a very common issue Arc employees face, when you email to their hub they say they will get back to you in 3 working days, which is a joke, it will be a miracle if they get back to you before the next pay cycle. 
You will always feel that you are being taken advantage of. The workforce is majorly composed of students and young adults who really won't have much of a voice if there are any concerns regarding pay or unfair treatment. 


A typical day at work in ARC Hospitality is fast-paced and people-focused, often involving setting up venues, assisting guests, and ensuring events run smoothly. You quickly learn valuable skills such as teamwork, communication, time management, and how to stay calm under pressure. Management can vary depending on the team, but is generally supportive and focused on delivering high standards. The workplace culture is dynamic and social, with a strong emphasis on collaboration and professionalism. The hardest part of the job is dealing with busy periods and demanding situations, especially during large events. However, the most enjoyable part is meeting new people, working as part of a team, and the satisfaction of delivering a successful event experience.

I began working for Arc over the summer to make some money while at home from University. After my second shift, I was recognised for my effort at Leeds United with a staff reward after receiving excellent feedback from a client describing the service as "restaurant standard". 

I subsequently worked shifts at various other venues including Bradford City and Doncaster Racecourse, and when I returned to Nottingham in September to continue my degree, I was offered a recruitment position with Arc on the basis of my previous assessments. 

I subsequently recruited and trained over 100 staff in the Nottinghamshire area over a period of 6 weeks from November to December 2017, and it led to the development of the Midlands office based in Birmingham. 

The support from the staff in every location has been excellent and there is a real meritocracy in terms of being rewarded for performing your job to an excellent standard and I would highly recommend this company to any potential applicant.

Overall I felt it was a very substantial way of doing work during my studies (before the pandemic had arrived) while learning in a challenging but fruitful manner in how a hospitality-based work can be. I could say it helped me realise the passion I have for serving and helping people. The management members also have been highly supportive and have been there for the workers whenever there is an issue. It could be a pain to deal with traveling and waking up ludicrously early for shifts (in Cardiff's case, there will be quite amount of early morning transportations) but it is something that you get used to. To sum it all up, I highly recommend to give Arc Hospitality a try if you are looking for a more flexible work before you get into full-time work.
