What is the best part of working at the company?
Staff are supported to excel in their careers. Career progression is a possibility and l have seen employees that have remained in the same work place for over twenty years making it a safe friendly work environment. The Home Manager is very involved in the day to day running of the organisation and doesn’t miss anything. Weekly clinical governance meetings focus on Key Performance Indicators and solutions are discussed weekly and followed up timely. Every person s role is embraced as special as we all need one another for the successful running of the business. Any underperforming areas are quickly supported by existing contingencies or quick careful planning and management to improve timely. Every head of each department is listened to when they bring up a valuable point. Employees are fully aware of their professional responsibilities and limitations and embrace each other’s roles as everyone is very very important. Housekeeping team and catering are the business foundation and these areas are focused on by other departments to maintain quality of service provision. Staff encourage one another to keep positive so as to provide a safe service and maintain a happy workplace. Service users and staff are just like a family. It is like home from home. Palliative care and end of life care is provided with dignity and respect. Staff act professionally always and there is no drama. Any impaired staff relationships are quickly repaired professionally by designated staff. Staff are encouraged to be mindful and always be positive and spread positive energy across the community. Everyone is friendly, the place is well diversified. Older staff nature meaningful connections with younger ones to make them feel like part of the family. Age is just a number in this company. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Personally l do not allow stress to take over my beautiful heart. There are billions of beautiful hearts here to beat stress. We do not use this word cheaply. There is no stress when working for this company. Anyone who feels stress due to own personal matters is supported professionally if they make that choice to allow support. You can take a horse to the water but you can’t make them drink. There is professionals to support those who feel stress before they come to work and if their stress starts affecting the work environment it may affect the people that we care for.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Home from home , work environment and culture is welcome and everyone embraces everyone. There are billions of beautiful hearts in this company. Staff act professionally and they know their responsibilities and restrictions. Everyone is good at something and together we stand as one love , one family , one community. It is a beautiful place with beautiful people. Most residents come from the same community so it is like home from home.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
This is a very busy company. Staff come to work voluntarily and no one is forced to attend work and maintain a happy environment for the benefit of people using the service. Typically in one day ; as a Nurse in charge , keeping everyone safe is our primary responsibility. Keeping everyone involved and included. Maintaining safe practices and effective medication management ensuring all stocks are enough to complete each cycle. Maintaining a high standard of nutrition and hydration and ensuring dining experiences are met with best outcomes while respecting individual choices. Encouraging people to maintain three main meals and meeting fluid targets to prevent infections. Staff breaks managed safely while maintaining safety of people using the service reducing falls risks. Risks managed very well , everyone is very busy in their own roles but we only meet at one point “ the happy service user”
Staff maintain effective communication by keeping one another updated of any changes. Resident of the day arrangements keep everyone working together as one happy team. Clinical governance meetings and huddle meetings keep services safe and effective , responsive and caring , well managed facility is a happy working environment.

As a HCA you are on the go from the minute your shift starts to the moment your shift ends. You have a routine but also some changes everyday, each day you with assigned to a floor which there are 3 floors. You will mainly be assigned to the floor that you have the most experience on and know the residents a little better than on the other floors. Ground floor is very intense in sense of care and meeting targets to take sure all residents receive the right amount of care, as this floor is mainly for inmobile residents, residents who need help with everyday things. the first floor is the floor with residents who have dementia, also very challenging and rewarding, and 2nd floor is for patients who mobile can do everything themselves, they require a little help here and there and the HCA role on this floor is to make sure the residents are kept safe and their mental and physical health is kept as a priority as it can be a big change to move from your home to a nursing home when you are still mobile and independent. Which for many elderly this can be very hard on your mental health, So they must be supported as much possible that is a very important priority when working with these residents. i mainly worked on the ground floor, so my days were very busy, back breaking and tiring but very very rewarding.
i never feel like i wanted to leave, shift patterns change each week but we are given them just before they month starts incase you need to make any changes to your shifts. day
shifts you have the pleasure of putting residents safely to bed and then getting up with them the next morning, you care for these residents like they are you own family. and one of the most amazing things about being a carer for the elderly the stories they tell you are absolutely incredible and make you day. i have met some extraordinary people in my time working at maria mallaband and have learnt so much from the residents also. Also working in this field within this company you get a lot of support when it comes to expanding your knowledge of your role, you get to watch and learn from nurses how to treat different problems the elderly may face. you learn to watch out for symptoms for different types of medical problems, and you learn from care plans how the residents are treated for different medical issues, as all members of the team work as a team no one higher up thinks they are better than anyone else and everyone just wants to help each other. it’s a very friendly environments to work, even on the tiring trough shifts you may have had, you are always supported by your colleagues. i will say one of the hardest jobs to do is something that i don’t want to state on here as in respect of the residents, and the company but to put it shortly would be the mobility and moving residents from a to b. Which can have an affect on your own health. for example when moving a resident for personal care it would consist off holding residents in place while personal care took place which can have an affect on your back and you can develop problems with your back because of this, but they are improving the mobility training so it’s safer for both resident and health worker. 

My time at Maria mallaband was not a great and moving to this company was a far cry from that of which I had experianced before in my last care job which was a much better.

Negatives: 
- Staff where negative, always complaining about their shift patterns and even claiming to ring in sick on the days that they where due to work with people they didn't like, there was always a negative feeling on shift this left me not looking forward to coming into work. 

- The home itself was run down and old, staff facilites and resident facilites were as basic as it gets and the wards themselves were run down their was cupboards with no doors or handles on them and staff wern't even allowed basic cleaning equipment or chemicals to clean eating areas or living areas which resulted in eating areas being left with food on the floor and tables and sides covered in muck. 

- Staff wern't even allowed accsess to the storeroom to refill wipes and personal care supplies which meant at times during personal care you'd be running around the ward looking for a room to borrow wipes from, the sluice room was unbelievebly dirty and smelt awful which in my experiance should not be the case for a sluice room despite its purpose.

- I was asked on multiple occasions to do jobs such as using hoists despite me not being trained by the company to use one, I stated multiple times that I had previously been a mental health support worker and I had not used hoists before. On another occasion I was made to keep engaging with a resident who was getting angry that I was monitering where he was outside I expressed to the nurse on duty that the resident was getting angry with me and someone else should monitor him for a while but was told that because I was a male member of staff it's better I stay with him which was not right at all.

Positives:
- Staff was provided meals on shift which saved on having to buy food to bring to work.

- The starting rate was £9.04 per hour which is a slight increase from usual care rates.










While the advertised hourly wage seems competitive, in reality it really is not as the company suffers from understaffing and unreasonable staff to patient ratios. For patient safety there should be more staff both day and night, considering that care package prices in the facility are very, very high. 

Employment here will be a rough start - no adequate introductions, no adequate shadowing, no guidance as most staff you will be working with is agency staff. Sink or swim. Unsuitable for those new to care. Regular local staff are few, but most are fairly caring and take effort to know the residents better. The few bad apples do spoil the bunch as workplace culture is not good - lots of gossiping and a case of ''too many cooks in the kitchen''. Nurses seem to have disagreements with team leads over trivial things. 

The building is purpose built and is very enticing, with various facilities offered for residents such as a mini cinema,  bistro area, elegant dining rooms and tasteful decor, however it all seems just for show. The home has the potential to be really nice but it would take a lot of work and a lot of effort. 

Standards fluctuate due to high reliance of agency staff in all sectors, from catering to care. Sometimes agency staff show up late, sometimes not at all. Sometimes medication rounds are delayed by an unacceptable margin due to this. It is impossible to have a high standard like this and more effort should be made to employ permanent staff. 

Management is fairly absent and unapproachable. Since the opening of the home there have been several management changes and involvement of regional management due to the chaos at the helm. There is no strong lead at this time. 

Overall, I wouldn't recommend this for long term employment as it has been a very disappointing experience. 

As a Staff Nurse you are the person In charge of the shift s you have a lot of responsibility ,ensuring that you have the adequate number of staff to work with for the day on all floors depends on how your home is, handover of service user room to room to ensure adequate information is  been shared and to all carers also, allocate careers to their point of work and pair them, medication to be commenced, staff would do breakfast, we work as a team so its mostly easy as far as the right information as been shared and they all have access to read basic information about the SU such as IDDIS level, mobility etc. 
Daily 11am meeting with the manager to give update about the current situation or any problem encountered or to be encountered. To do on the diary differs day to day. Such as if SU needs  referrals, booking transport medication review or chasing or enquiry, appointment with DT,CHC assessment's it really depends on the day which you have your other colleagues to assist if you have question or the DM and HM.
Supervising the resident during meals especially afternoon to ensure right food, wants and options are been given to them as requested, you are also able  to know how their eating patterns is and also update the nutrition care plan and denote if they need extra help with meal plan.
The hardest part of the job is time flies, different days with its own presentation also be prepared to talk and chat with everyone.
Teamwork with the care staff and management is my best as it makes it easy and seamless but not also everyday but i always see improvement everyday.

My roll is to deliver meaningful activities which can change peoples lives and make them healthier, happier and more active but also my involvement at creating a great environment, media reporting, community liaison and through this making the home the best it can be for everyone.

I can honestly say this was one of my most rewarding experiences if my life.  The award service was stunning.  All the staff are amazing and gave you so much kindness, support and encouragement to be able to achieve your goals.  To be recognised and part of the Marie Mallaband / countrywide family is a great reward which I treasure. 
I am so lucky to have gone on and won the award for most innovative activities.  The award I dedicated to the entire team at my home for all their support and hard work as without them I couldn’t achieve the goals for all our residents.  Marie Mallaband / countrywide are the best company who reward there staff in so many ways ..it’s a pleasure to work and be part of their team.

What is the best part of working at the company?
I have never worked anywhere as toxic and negative in my life ! Nasty mean girl staff, who were so unfriendly , staff that couldn't be bothered at all and a strange culture where a family member of one of the residents seemed to be alowed to sit all day negativity commenting on the things staff did   which was very intimidating. 
Additionally a certain staff member was the reason three staff members had left due to bullying and even though this was repeatedly reported nothing was done !
I felt sorry for the staff members who were there to genuinely care for the residents as opposed to the majority who seemed to turn up to tell everyone how to do their role better and be generally fed up all day 
This experience has affected me in ways that will stay with me for a long time 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The toxic environment,  bullying  negativity,  the frustration of nothing been done to correct this 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Awful , the absolute worst place I have ever been 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Try do the job while people in other roles constantly point out why it should be done another way, negative opinions and constant arguing

My time here was very enjoyable. The only reason I had to leave was because of the horrendous traffic on the motorway. For people who live locally this isn't really an issue as they don't offer working from home as an option. They can however be flexible in the working hours.
I worked in credit control and my managers were so very supportive and considerate. The team is one of the best and It has been an absolute pleasure working for them.  
The day is busy and there is a lot of work to do considering the nature of the business. The phone lines are extremely busy and some calls can be very demanding but also very rewarding. They do care about people. They listen and do make changes but unfortunately are not always fully supported by upper management which is a shame really as they have so much potential. 
The team has a very good friendship and I immediately felt like part of the team. Everyone is very nice and welcoming and they work together very well. The team has won many prizes as a result and they also do star of the month as a further incentive. I was happy working here and would love to work here again in the future should they be willing to support working from home. 


I’ve had the pleasure of working in recruitment for the past two years, and the journey has been incredibly rewarding. Working at Troutbeck 10 weeks so far as Bank Staff care assistant excellent very impressive training & paid e learning in house etc very demanding role but equally rewarding role settled in nicely quickly realised this home constantly under staffs every shift flouts policy’s cover ups in paper work & short falls & has double standards for management and longer serving staff members who regularly break every policy they claim to be transparent in  but def are not they constantly understaff every single shift leaving staff  run ragged they get one to one funding for several residents but don’t give one to one care I’ve seen a lot been upset by it ignored by management and got rid of under false allegations for speaking out about my concerns about residents care needs not being net, staffing & maintenance issues also false paperwork submissions by management 
I have been a partner in an Engineering firm 25 years and had other work since that I took on care work 4 months into the pandemic Covid 19 as other work fell off and went quiet and i didn’t want office work .. it’s been an eye opener and if I was a relative of a resident I would be very concerned indeed ..
