I was taken on as an apprentice so I didn't know at the time that how I was being treated was incredibly poor and put up with it as they made me fear losing my job and like I wasn't good enough to get another  elsewhere. This seems to be a pattern in Newcross, it allows them to take advantage of less experienced workers. 
Upon finishing my apprenticeship they only offered me 15k, which at the time I didn't think was bad comparing it to my apprentice wage. However it was at minimum 3k less than what is industry standard. 

My manager used me as his emotional punch bag, he bullied me and made me feel utterly thick and worthless. There were times when I would go into the toilets to cry because I couldn't take it. I spoke to another manager in my department, told him of this and explained that it was making me depressed and all he said was 'man up'. I was made to feel that because I was a girl I was too emotional and would make things up or see things that weren't there. Also that I was stupid and not technical, only good for admin work, when in reality I was terrified of making a mistake which effected my ability to learn new skills.
I went to the Director of HR to address the issue and nothing was done. In the end I left, if I hadn't I would have genuinely had a mental breakdown. 

My manager forced me to work unpaid over time, even when I had prearranged plans out of work. Newcross contracts are very sketchy and vague allowing them to interpret it how they like. It said my core hours were office based but they could ask me to work whenever due to it being a 24/7 service, and they could ask me to work where ever they wanted. 
I was asked to support the call center in bristol, if there were problems I would have to drive up and fix them. I wasn't given a company car for this and they refused to assist me in getting business insurance. 

I once did over time on a saturday in bristol where I worked from 9.30am - 4.30am, I was then expected to be at the office the next day at 8.30am. Allowing me 3/3.5 hours sleep. This was illegal of them, I was entitled to 11 hours of sleep. 
We then worked until 1am and I was home by 2.30am. I was told I could come in late the next day but this was only 10am. I felt so awful.
I confronted my manager about this and asked for my fair overtime pay or for time off in lieu. After an argument he said I could leave early that day and to be grateful for even getting that. 

Other things happened in my time there that in hindsight I had more than enough ammo to go to a tribunal. However being young I didn't realise, I grew up thinking the abuse was normal and I was weak & unintelligent.

I know that my replacement was also heavily bullied by my old manager, from the sounds of things to a worse extent than I was. 
Senior management still refuse to address the issue so I can expect the IT department to always have a high turnover. 

Bottom line - don't get a job in their IT department if you value your mental health.

Some of their policies are designed to protect the business and not the common carer (they charge you £50 if you cancel a shift, they don't pay you anything if they cancel your shift including when you are already on shift alot of negatives) doing the job. No chance of improvement as management is not the best. Too much pretence, condescending and patronising. They are concerned about what head office say and protecting their jobs. No support and quick to point fingers. I have worked for them 3+ years and I have emails to prove what I am saying. If you want to be guilt tripped when you say no to a shift and then later your shifts cancelled or they put you on some kind of blacklist where shifts won't come your way then go work for them. They treat you bad and then towards your annual review they start talking to you and treating you nice.

When you say you don't want to go to a particular home, they stop giving you shifts then you go a few days without them offering shifts anymore and then when you call them to ask what is going on, they say the only shifts available are from the home you don't want to work; when your colleagues tell you there are shifts from other homes. Too many negatives to mention. When you feel bullied and want to complain, the person who is bullying you is the one you have to complain to. If you want good money for an agency then go work there but if you got values as a human being and respect yourself then please forget the money and work elsewhere. 

A senior member of staff: Business Centre Manager as they are called, went into my account and turned off a certain feature that should allow me have exposure to other jobs. This made me not to be called up for jobs for that specific area despite my CV stating that is my area of specialization and I joined newcross on those basis. I went for over 4 months having 1 shift every week and at times being pushed back to homes  I never really want to go to and had brought this to their attention. Only to find out from Central support that this feature wasn't ticked on my profile. This is specific, when I rang my branch, they claimed it was done BY MISTAKE. With this feature, someone had to go through your profile to untick the box but it was a mistake? After I confronted them and pointed out to them what I think was going on, I got so many phone calls on the day offering me alot of shifts. They talk to you as if  you are nothing and as if they are doing your a favour.

False advertisement of job and it’s description; also, rate of pay range was advertised as £18-£32 but when pay was discussed after interview they mentioned that anything above £18 was for advanced nurses only; meanwhile they were only hiring phlebotomists anyway as it was advertised as a phlebotomist position. 
There was an astonishing amount of non existent work which made us wonder why they even hired us to begin with, we kept being told that contracts would be closing for future clientele even know this never happened and us employees were consistently waiting for open communication from the management. 
We were also told that there would be some great opportunities for us but upon discussion this turned out to be false and a ploy to force us into working in care homes as healthcare assistants. This is something I was very disappointed and frustrated about as we were hired phlebotomists and when concerns were voiced, management did not seem to care but rather doubled down on this. So decided to give working in a care home a try until I realised that the care home didn’t even understand why we were put there! The staff at the care home made us feel so unwelcome and left out and even made up lies about us to attack our character despite the efforts we put in when we shouldn’t have even been there in the first place. When I gave management feedback about this, it was not followed up.

Newcross also don’t seem to care about the health of its employees and would prefer staff change the dates and times of doctor’s appointments despite giving notice well in advance. 

The reality of the position has differed greatly from the expectations that were had before the actual onboarding process. The managers lacked communication and had little consideration for the satisfaction and well-being of their staff. After the nurse manager left, there would be weeks of zero communication despite reaching out multiple times but when you’re slow to respond because of this fact, it’s unacceptable to them. 

Our nurse manager left the company out of the blue and was replaced by the director of the business who also left within a month of the nurse manager leaving, without even telling us he was leaving so we were left hanging in the wind for weeks until they decided to dismiss me for no tangible reason

. Not a good company at all and it’s clear why they don’t seem to retain staff.

As a Business operations executive/Relationship executive, you will be overworked, underpaid (given your duties) unrealistic targets, immense pressure daily, any successes short lived and if you do happen to hit target expect this target to rise again to another unrealistic level. The expectations from management are not inline with reality leaving you with little to no job satisfaction whatsoever. If you are ill I hope it's nothing to serious or long term as you will be surviving on SSP, advertises as hybrid/home working this is not the case unless you have 1 year service. In this role you will quite literally make the business millions per month (as a team) which is healthy for the company, just a shame that you are not rewarded accordingly (in my opinion) any day off either sick, dependents leave, pet commitments, funeral and or family emergency not only will this be unpaid unless you use annual leave but you will be pressured to return and reminded of the fact this is unpaid, you are leaving the team short and you will be effected financially. Any concerns raised are completely disregarded and it's clear the only time anyone senior will step to ask any questions is when there is a drop in productivity or financial loss. Extremely stressful role that require resilience of the highest level, no margin for error and if there is prepare to be called out publicly. Private sector can be cut throat as we all know, Newcross are no different. You will be micro managed and monitored heavily, if you are not up to standard you will know about it. Manger right down to the volume of incoming and outgoing calls and the quality of certain calls. High staff turnover because of the above and don't see this changing any time soon. The company has real potential to become a great employer, just a shame nobody listens to the feedback and employees don't seem to be at the heart of the business. My exit interview was a a couple of yes/no questions and feedback does not reach the wider management within the business. Given the turnover you'd think this process would be key in order to focus on staff retention right?! All of this is of course my opinion but after several months in the job I feel this is a true reflection and after experiencing the very low morale in the office this only adds to the issue.

Started working 3 years ago at that time I did not drive and I was travelling 2 hrs away by having lifts or trains and sometimes even walking. I would work Upto 80hrs a week going from shift to shift only because when you don't answer the phone to them your less likely to get shifts and when you decline shifts it's the same.
Since then they have taken way to many staff on with not enough hours To go I had a Job else where and they nagged me to leave it to work full time which i did stupidly and then a few months later hardly no hours came in I was finding myself ringing them all the time
And then they told me well look we are an agency so we only have to give you 8hrs a week but my response was why ask me to give my other job up when you can't give me hours now ,, time went on and I stuck and struggled until few months ago I bumped into loads of new agency staff and i asked them do they get enough work and a few of them where fully booked for week I questioned the office about it and they made every excuse up that was my final straw having like 20hrs a week or less won't pay the bills they will give new staff all the hours because it keeps them in the loop but your hours will die off when they take on new staff and the money depends on where you work sometimes it's low if you work it out they put a pound in extra for holidays ontop of your rate so when they say £7.50 it's actually £6.50 because they other pound is holiday pay which you have to sepearte that yourself. Uniform is a nightmare to get hold off some of us are still waiting 7 months Down the line. Another thing is when you work full time for them and work for terrible money through the week and then people who work part time which they only usually do the weekend shifts always have a full weekend and us full time staff be lucky to get 6hrs. They don't look after the staff who have done everything for them and have traveling miles to work and haven't moaned so your best off having this job really just as part time hope this helps and if you enjoy a certain home and fancy going bAck full time forget it as Newcross charge that home 2000 to have you and 99% of the time the home won't Allow its in the contrac which they don't tell you about hope this helps any of you

Management - is generally supportive, providing guidance and resources, but there may be times when communication could be more proactive, especially with shift allocations or cancellations. Clearer scheduling and faster responses to inquiries would enhance staff satisfaction.

Workplace culture - emphasizes compassion, teamwork, and a client-centered approach. Colleagues often show strong camaraderie, which makes a challenging job feel more collaborative and rewarding. However, the fast-paced environment can sometimes lead to stress, particularly when workloads are high.

The hardest part of the job - is managing emotionally challenging situations, like providing care for end-of-life clients or dealing with abrupt changes in schedules. Physical demands can also be tough, requiring stamina and resilience.

The most enjoyable part of the job -  is building meaningful relationships with clients and seeing the positive impact of your work on their well-being. Knowing you’re making a difference in people’s lives brings great personal satisfaction and purpose.

Where to start!! The ethos in the company is investors in people only they forget to actually invest in those people!! There is a huge lack of training then they terminate you contact for not having the needed contract. 

The staff turn over is scary with 5 branch managers in 1 local branch alone that doesnt include health care coordinators ir any other staff for that matter... they continue to take on nursing staff yet do not have the hours to allow half of those staff to fulfill their contracts.

No prais to any of their staff. The managment and coordination is next to zero and the only time the do step in is when the are disciplining or tearing their staff down. Managment are often abrupt and certinly not approachable.

They consistently request that client calls be made forgetting and putting aside all the important things a business needs in order to run. Forcing staff to make sone time 3 and 4 calls a week to clients who do not and will not use their service. Along side making cold calls to clients forcing service visits such a bad attitude!!

They rarely compramise with companies and instead feel everyone should conform to the newcross way and are happy to throw away business because of this attitude. 

Their staff are classed as second class citizen's who they would rather get rid of than listen to or fix any problems..... please stay away

Bonuses are paid annually and after tax are not worth the bother. Twice bonuses weren’t paid or weren’t paid correctly.

You will never be treated fairly or as a valued employee, you may think you have a great relationship with your manager, however they are a yes man to senior management and will throw you under the bus at any given opportunity.

Very poor wage for such a varied and heavy workload, no company benefits, no sick pay, no pay rise & no negotiation on pay.

Avoid at all costs.

You can expect to work a rotation based work life that will consist of primarily 8 hour shifts. There will be a week where you will work 12 hour shifts but you will have 4 days off after this (if they haven't changed it, which they often do!)

Your primary tasks are split dependent on the team that you work for; inbound calls only or 'bookers'

Inbound - I would often take in access of 100 calls a day, ranging from clients requesting agency care / nursing staff to Newcross staff requesting shifts and answering queries. The major irritation (which they are currently working to address) is the speed of the current system, which had it's origins in Explorer and switching between some screens can take an age, making it more difficult to do your job. In your first 4 weeks I wouldn't worry about the speed at which you process each task as Sarah and co are looking for consistency over volume. Don't be afraid to ask questions of those around you.

'Bookers' Outbound - Your task is first and foremost to try and cover as many hours as possible to line the pockets of the senior management team, whilst not getting a bonus yourself because they place targets in front of you that are not achievable, unless you're scrupulous enough to want to tread on others toes (be it your own team of those in the 60+ branches) If you're willing to take covered hours and potential bonus from other staff then you will do well in this team. That is of course unless it's the height of summer, where there are rich pickings across the business. 

Expect to work either Christmas or New year period as a full time team member.

The people you work along side and the reasonable pay are the only real reason to be there. They will advertise that you will earn £21000 plus 3k+ bonus but this is of course depending on the hourly rate of which you work so it will be more inline to £18500 and a bonus, only if you have friends in branch or are willing to con others out of theirs

Joined the office staff about 7 months ago.
So far, loving it. 

I get plenty of support from management.
Pay rates are decent and you are advertised bonus, but unfortunately that bonus does not depend on individual performance so chances are, you're not going to get the full thing. That would be something I don't like.
Other than that, not much to say. You have a rota that covers 12 hours per day, but you will work only 8, the rest are covered by a different team. You also work every 3 Saturdays, which, coming from an HCA that worked almost every FULL weekend, can't complain.
Promotion in the work place... That depends on what you get by that. They do advertise every office opening on the website, you just need to be knowledgeable and have a bit of faith in training and apply.. 
I was reading some of the reviews left before me and all I can say is, on my side of the woods, I can't complain.
Truth is, it is a competitive environment, which you are told it is at interview. If you cannot take the stress and responsabillities, then maybe the job is not for you. I was 'warned' from interview and I took the job knowingly and don't regret it at all.
I do want to make one comment: the recruitment process is very thorough, for good reason, and you are told this at the start of your process, wether you are office staff or care staff. You are told what to do and what is expected of you on a regular basis and co-operation goes a long way.

Overall, I am a former carer, I wanted this job, got the job and now I am loving it. I accepted it with all it's goods and less goods. Would not leave it unless a massive change in circumstance.
