OK !! were do i start...Lets start with the guy who handles the induction a really likeable character who really does his job well and makes you really relaxed if only he would have been truthfull about the culture of the company.....A workplace full of different cultures many of which are very nice people to work alongside...the problem from my experience there is the people in charge... i worked in the cureing area were there are two people in charge of staff one of which i found very nice indeed but unfortunatly the other has less people skills than my baby finger and causes more drama and bad feeling than a years supply of eastenders.
Only one dinner break for the whole shift and thats 35 minutes and from the area where i worked it takes at least 5 mins to walk to the canteen expect to be moaned at if you are 10 mins or so late back from your break thats if you are english of course if you are not english its ok to take an hour if you like thats because one of the supervisor"s is from the same country has them....i met some really nice people in my short time there from all cultures from around the world but beware the supervisor"s favorites are full of drama and wouldnt think twice about stabbing you in the back,,,the reason i decided to take the job was because of the manager who was in charge there at the time and he really was starting to make inroads into making it a better place to work but unfortunatly the company decided to release him from his position such a shame has it was really starting to change for the better......within days of him leaving the culture was rebuilt to the same old has before. if you decide to work there i wish you good luck has you will need it if you are not to be broken.

Had an interview with full intentions of getting a long term full time job. Not once in the interview did they tell me that the company was looking at closing a load of departments within the next few months... meaning redundancy. Also they miss informed me of the hours i would be contracted to work. During the interview, the lady said it would be mon-fri, 6am - 2.30pm. I had left my previous job and started work here 2 days later. It was not until i was on my 3rd day, that i was informed that my shift patterns was actually 6 - 2.30pm one week, and 2.30 - 11pm the next. This caused a few problems. Luckily i managed to work around it. I should have been informed of this before hand. The reason i was given, was that the lady who had interviewed me was new and had misinformed me by mistake. As the weeks went on, the work load got less and less. Managers was sending staff home with paid or unpaid holidays because of the lack of work to be done. After a few months there, there was talk between staff of a closure, although not once was we informed ourselves by a manager. It was not until it was in the local papers that we then was sat down in a meeting and informed that they would possibly be making people redundant but that was looking to be in the new year. Then just to make things worse, less than 2 week before Christmas, myself and a few others, was left without a job. Only 6 months after i got the job. No care for staff at all. surely they shouldn't have taken new staff on knowing that there was a possible closure about to happen.
On a plus, when there was work, it was a good job. I had a lot of laughs and some of the staff seemed become close friends.

Had interview,  told when I would start and hourly rate (I hadn't even accepted but still given a start date) then on induction found out it had all been lies (not hourly rate promised, no holiday honoured etc) Wanted to quit on first day (but unfortunately need money!). It's not that its majority a production line job more the fact that it's run like a circus or military camp whatever you believe, told you can't do this, that and the other yet on shop floor total opposite. I have nothing against foreign workers,  the majority I've worekd with before are insanely hard workers, unfortunately the department I'm in they must have missed it with this bunch, no one speaks English,  they're rude, it's overrun with them and they do what they want, take hours of breaks,  dissappear whenever and whatever they're doing, most of them are there for jokes and chat and they're allowed to get away with it because they're from the same country as their supervisor.  The place is a joke, the machines are constantly broken and it's slow, monotonous and will break you. One 30 minute break, but it's more like 20 by the time you've changed etc and then have to get rechanged etc. On your feet hauling tonnes of pork joints etc, freezing, you're covered in various body parts, blood etc and just not worth it. Save yourself the trouble it's not worth the hassle, I'll be out second something comes up, how some people have lasted 25+ years is beyond me, 3 days has been enough! Only shame is the (English) guys I'm with are really nice, only thing that gets me through the pain of the (long) day.

Though I work in different areas of the factory I have my favorites and least favorites. My favorite is the seasoning room as it's very basic and not at all difficult. The communication in the seasoning room is brilliant and makes time go by faster and the co workers are fantastic people. My least favorite part of Tulip is low care packing area where I pack. Though the job role in low care packing is very basic, it lacks communication and team work.

I have learned a few things when working at Tulip but not too much as I've worked in a similar area of work like back at Volac in Sleaford. What I learned was I can work alongside foreign people as good as British. I never had anything against foreign people, I just thought team work and communication with them would be awkward as they're from a different country and it would prove difficult to understand them. Some foreign co workers at Tulip do lack English language and can prove to be very difficult to communicate with them.

Management at Tulip is great but there are cons as well. The cons of management at Tulip is that they lack few communication skills through one another.

There are no hard parts of my jobs.

Typical day at Crown Pet Foods is a productive and fun filled day. I was implementing the GMP Standards, MARS QMS system, ISO 9001 standards are covered in the system. My days were with meeting teams, checking the progress, giving them more tasks to achieve the goals, auditing, working on the customer complaints, liaising with different teams etc. 

I have learned about the best management style, about developing and embracing a thriving, fun filled, motivating culture that is mutual beneficial. 

Co-workers are lovely people to work with. Always ready to help and no blame culture is part of our company and everyone is so good to each other. 

Hardest part of the job was asking the production, supply chain and procurement teams to work towards implementing the standards, but they all agreed to doing it eventually. 

Auditing was the most enjoyable part of the job.

This is in the top 3 of worst jobs I have had ! 
Nothing ever worked in the factory , the only good thing was the hand full of people I worked with who you could have a laugh with .
The management didn't have a clue what they were doing , how to run a factory // team properly , no help if your ill with anything like cancer and need to go the docs they get you in for disciplinary !! 
4 factory managers since I started till I left and lost count of the number of people who came and went as floor managers as they couldn't cope .
The people up stairs ( managers etc ) try and get too much from the staff and it's not gonna happen we always got told our pay will go up and when we had meetings the management changes subject when asked about it .... Snakes ......... You can only run machines so fast before they start to fall apart ! 

Pay was awful and sick pay was a joke ( if you get it from the tight fisted so and so's )

After totally restructuring and re-inventorising this engineering stores I have been repaid after completing a full repaint and rebinning  of all components by being made redundant.

There has been no attempt by the management to help me keep my job which I feel is a necessity to the running of the engineering department.

I have never been late or had a sick day in 30months so have been a model employee 

I have made a lot of friends during my time here but a change in the management positions has made it hard to accomplish anything concrete as there are too many chiefs and not enough indians.

This is such a shame as the first year I worked here with a supportive management things were improving daily.

I would not recommend this company to anyone looking for employment as there is no personal support.

Company been through a lot of change at the top, meaning different strategies every 6 months.  Causes problems further down the chain with no time to implement changes.  Senior management do not listen to site staff when requests to make changes for the betterment of the site are made; it's their way and no other.

Very long hours, with high instances of sickness as a result.  Morale through the floor.

The site teams are generally great people and will go out of their way to help each-other.  However, most roles are filled by people not qualified to do them; there is a culture of people stepping up to fill a gap rather than the bosses stepping down.  These gaps are then not back-filled, so the unqualified person keeps it and become overwhelmed.

No training offered, and even when asked for is rarely approved.

Clock in , change into factory clothing , strip machines , rinse gross debris, foam using prescribed chemical rinse and sanitise . repeat this process elsewhere . Attention to detail is vital as this is a food factory, I have worked here for some time now and everything is done second nature now , i get on extremely well with my co workers  despite language barriers , it can be quite sociable at times , a staff shop is provided . As far as management go we are a small branch of a very large company . I work a 12 hour shift pattern which in itself is not a problem but recently our pattern has changed so now we work 3 shifts on 2 off 2 on and three off , then reverse of this pattern . it is difficult especially as i am on nights to find a good home work balance .

I'm on a part time contract between 9 am to 2 pm. Most of the staff are friendly, I also found most of the supervisors and the managers to be quite friendly and polite as well which was something I definitely wasn't expecting judging on earlier reviews, however the work can be fairly hard going at times and can be absolutely freezing when handling raw meat. All in all its alright as a temporary job but in all honesty I can't even see myself still here in a year from now. Only take a job at tulip as a last resort, although the pay is above industry average at £10 an hour.
