The Strategic Performance and Information Service plays a pivotal role offering the following key functions across the organisation
Development and facilitation of the trust’s performance assurance frameworks and processes
Provision of data, performance and productivity metrics and analytical support
Submission of mandated statutory information to external stakeholders
Management of our data warehouse to extract data from various systems ensuring reporting structures meet our internal and external reporting requirements
Use of advanced analytical tools and techniques to transform data into insightful reports, statistics and key performance indicators
The post holder will report to the Data Engineering Manager and work alongside other members of the data engineering team to ensure that each of our Information systems meets a range of requirements including:
Supports statutory, contractual and internal reporting requirements
Supports all management information reporting solutions
Supports corporate departments in their reporting and analysis
Supports operational teams to understand their data quality and their performance
The post holder will have an active role in taking requirements from users who may not be familiar with the technology and designing systems to meet their needs. They will need to balance having a detailed understanding of the technology with the ability to communicate in simple ways that ensures new users are engaged with the project.

The post holder will have excellent SQL skills; strong knowledge and experience in using the full Microsoft BI Stack particularly SSIS. They will also be expected to have web development skills and have the ability to manipulate complex data sets derived from information in a healthcare business context.

To be Responsible for the continued development and maintenance of the central data warehouse ensuring that this is aligned to the business requirements of the Trust and that the data feeds and data architecture supports these. Using recognised methodologies for development (such as Kimble).
Responsible for all sharepoint or web development tools developed and managed by the Team ensuring that these are aligned to the business requirements of the Trust.
Lead on providing a complete end to end service for all types of developments. This will include acting in a consultancy manner with staff within the Trust to establish clear requirements through to development, testing, implementation and maintenance.
Provide specialist advice to staff on data warehouse, SQL development web development, data analysis and reporting,
To ensure all development outputs are well designed, thoughtfully compiled and add value.
Keep up to date with the latest technologies, methodologies and drive consistent standards.
Manage report development projects when required
Assist other colleagues and departments to effectively analyse, investigate and resolve complex issues which occur within our reporting system including amendments to the data warehouse and associated databases where required and also validating and assisting with the escalation of issues.
Perform DBA duties such as the creation of scheduled jobs and creating stored procedures.
Perform Tableau/Power BI administration tasks such as user management, creation of scheduled jobs, executing stored procedures, monitoring performance, liaising with ICT for system upgrades etc
Responsible for complex query writing to support operational and management report requests and develop further ad hoc reporting tools to facilitate efficient and effective access to the trust’s operational and management information.
Be aware of the information needs of management and develop data structures to support these.
Support system implementation testing, development and deployment; ensuring minimal impact on operational processes.
Lead on the testing and approval of software upgrades prior to transferring to the live environment
Support the ongoing maintenance and development of the Trust’s Learning Management System by assisting with data integration, reporting solutions, and system troubleshooting as required.
Provide technical assistance and contribute to the development and maintenance of Power Apps and related automation tools (e.g., Power Automate), ensuring adherence to internal standards and supporting end-users and stakeholders.
Assist in the investigation and resolution of issues across Trust systems by using data queries, reporting, and integration tools to identify root causes and support problem-solving activities.
Have an excellent understanding of technical and functional design requirements.
To report to the Data Engineering Manager on progress with report developments requests in respect of timescales, resources, variance from the agreed plan, remedial action required and associated outcomes.
To provide leadership and expert advice within the Trust relating to the development of data warehousing and web developments and the use of data in regard to its advantages and limitations and agreeing on an effective solution which best suits the business needs of the Services/Trust.
Ensure that the data warehouse and web developments dashboards are developed, in line with service requirements. This will include testing and sign-off, and a follow up review to ensure that the solution has driven the desired objective.
Be thoroughly conversant with all the features and functionality within all the Information Team systems/tools (tableau, sql, sharepoint, web tools), and have a have a general understanding of the features and functionality of the Trusts information systems (Paris, ESR, Ulysses etc)
Work as a full member of the Team in the planning and delivery with regard to the management of the data warehouse, Tableau, web tools and associated systems. This includes attendance at team meetings, contribution to design session, expert advice on system functionality, data architecture, data analysis, report writing, analysis and training.
