Role Purpose
The Recruitment and Onboarding Coordinator will support the delivery of end-to-end recruitment and onboarding activities across Blazing Stars Education and its specialist schools. The role is responsible for coordinating screening calls and interviews, ensuring safer recruitment compliance, and delivering a smooth and professional onboarding experience for all new employees.
The successful candidate will be highly organised, proactive, and people-focused, with the ability to manage multiple recruitment processes while maintaining excellent candidate care and safeguarding standards.
Key Responsibilities
Recruitment Coordination
- Coordinate the full recruitment process from vacancy approval through to onboarding.
- Draft and advertise vacancies across recruitment platforms, social media, and education networks.
- Coordinate candidate applications, screening, interview scheduling, and recruitment communication.
- Liaise with Headteachers, Senior Leaders, and Hiring Managers regarding staffing requirements and recruitment progress.
- Maintain recruitment trackers, candidate records, and recruitment systems.
- Support recruitment campaigns for teaching, support, therapy, and leadership roles.
- Build and maintain candidate talent pipelines for future vacancies.
- Ensure a positive and professional candidate experience throughout the recruitment journey.
Safer Recruitment & Compliance
- Ensure all recruitment activity complies with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE), safeguarding legislation, and safer recruitment guidance.
- Coordinate all pre-employment checks including:
- Enhanced DBS checksRight to Work checksEmployment referencesQualification verificationProhibition checks where applicable
- Maintain accurate recruitment and onboarding records.
- Support the maintenance of the Single Central Record (SCR).
- Ensure all onboarding documentation is completed accurately and within required timescales.
- Maintain confidentiality and compliance with GDPR requirements.
Onboarding & Employee Administration
- Coordinate onboarding and induction arrangements for all new starters.
- Prepare onboarding documentation.
- Liaise with HR, payroll, IT, and operational teams to ensure new starters are fully set up.
- Coordinate induction schedules and mandatory training requirements.
- Monitor onboarding progress and ensure completion of all required documentation.
- Provide administrative support to the wider HR function where required.
Employer Branding & Recruitment Support
- Act as the first point of contact for recruitment enquiries.
- Promote Blazing Stars Education as an employer of choice within the education and SEN sectors.
- Support recruitment events, careers fairs, and community engagement initiatives.
- Assist with developing recruitment marketing content and social media promotion.
- Produce recruitment reports and KPI data as required.
Person Specification
Essential Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in recruitment, talent acquisition, HR administration, or onboarding coordination.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
- Experience using recruitment systems, HR systems, and Microsoft Office.
- Professional, confidential, and approachable manner.
- Understanding of safeguarding and safer recruitment principles.
Desirable
- Experience within education, SEN, healthcare, or children’s services.
- Knowledge of Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE).
- Experience supporting onboarding and employee administration processes.
- Experience supporting recruitment marketing or employer branding activities.
