Full job description

Peikko UK is recruiting an experienced Technical Sales Engineer to develop sales of our Connection Technology products across the UK.

This is a practical, customer-facing sales position focused on developing new business and growing existing accounts. You will work with precast manufacturers, structural engineers, main contractors, steelwork fabricators and other relevant customers to identify projects and provide suitable Peikko connection solutions.

We are looking for someone who can bring relevant construction-product sales experience, strong customer relationships and a proactive approach to business development. You will also contribute knowledge and experience to the continued development of our UK sales team.

This is not a formal management position. The role has no direct reports but will be expected to work collaboratively, share experience and support colleagues as the team develops.

Main responsibilities

Proactively identify and develop new sales opportunities across the UK
Build strong relationships with new and existing customers
Develop business with precast concrete manufacturers, designers and contractors
Identify suitable Peikko products from drawings, specifications and customer requirements
Work with Peikko engineers and product specialists on technical enquiries
Prepare or coordinate quotations and follow opportunities through to order
Negotiate prices and delivery terms within agreed authority
Deliver customer presentations, product demonstrations and CPDs
Maintain accurate customer, activity and opportunity records in CRM
Provide realistic pipeline and sales forecasts
Monitor competitor activity and provide feedback on market conditions
Share customer insight, product knowledge and effective sales approaches with the UK team
Ensure a clear handover of secured work to engineering, production and project teams

Essential experience and skills

Proven sales experience within precast concrete, construction fixings, structural connections, engineered construction products or a closely related sector
Experience developing new business and managing customer relationships
Good understanding of the UK construction market
Ability to read and understand construction or engineering drawings
Strong commercial awareness, including pricing, margin and negotiation
Confident communication and presentation skills
Ability to manage your own diary, customer visits and sales pipeline
Good CRM and reporting discipline
Full UK driving licence
Willingness to travel regularly throughout the UK

Desirable experience

Direct experience with precast connection systems, cast-in products, anchor systems, lifting products or structural fixings
Existing relationships with precast manufacturers, structural engineers, contractors or specialist subcontractors
Civil engineering, structural engineering, construction or other relevant technical qualification
Experience delivering CPDs or technical product presentations
Experience using Microsoft Dynamics 365, Salesforce or a similar CRM system

Important role scope

This is an individual sales role with no formal people-management responsibility
The position is focused on Peikko Connection Technology products
Structural design and calculations remain the responsibility of Peikko’s authorised engineering team
