Full job description

IT Technician Apprentice

Location: Croma Head Office, Whiteley, Hampshire, with travel to branch locations nationwide
Salary: Competitive Apprenticeship Salary
Hours: Full time. Standard working hours are 08:30–17:00, Monday to Friday. Due to the nature of IT support, flexibility will be required, including occasional weekend work and alternative start times to meet business needs.

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic IT Technician Apprentice to join our IT team. This opportunity will provide hands-on experience across a broad range of technologies while supporting a nationwide business. You will work within a small team of experienced IT professionals, developing the skills and knowledge required to build a successful career in information technology.

The Role

As an IT Technician, you will support Croma's national branch network by providing first and second-line IT support, maintaining IT equipment and infrastructure, assisting with network administration, and helping deliver technology solutions that improve business efficiency.

The role will involve a combination of remote and onsite support, including travel to branch locations to assist with desktop, hardware, software, and networking. You will also gain exposure to infrastructure projects, system improvements, and the implementation of technology solutions across the business.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver a consistent, high-quality IT support service to users across Croma's national branch network.
Manage incidents and service requests through the IT Service Desk, ensuring timely resolution and excellent customer service.
Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, operating system, and peripheral issues.
Support and maintain desktop PCs, laptops, printers, mobile devices, and IT equipment.
Assist with the administration and support of Microsoft 365 services and business applications.
Provide onsite IT and network support through branch visits across the UK.
Assist with the installation, configuration, and maintenance of networking equipment, including switches, wireless access points, and connectivity services.
Support the implementation of new technology solutions and infrastructure improvements.
Monitor systems and identify potential issues before they impact business operations.
Investigate root causes of recurring problems and contribute to long-term solutions.
Maintain accurate technical documentation, asset records, and support procedures.
Work with internal stakeholders and third-party suppliers to resolve technical issues.
Participate in IT projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
Follow IT security, change management, and data protection procedures.

What We're Looking For

Essential Requirements

Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent) at Grade 4/C or above.
Willingness to travel to branch locations across the UK

Desirable

Basic understanding of Windows operating systems.
Familiarity with Microsoft 365 applications.
Basic knowledge of networking concepts such as TCP/IP, Wi-Fi, routers and switches.
Previous experience in a customer-facing, technical, or support environment.
Access to own vehicle with appropriate business insurance would be advantageous; however, travel by public transport may be suitable where practical.
