Are you an experienced insurance claims professional looking for a rewarding role within the public sector? West Berkshire Council is seeking an Insurance Claims Officer to join our busy and dedicated Insurance Team, reporting to the Insurance Manager. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the effective management of insurance claims within a dynamic local authority.

The Role

As an Insurance Claims Officer, you will be responsible for:

Processing and managing insurance claims, ensuring timely and accurate handling.
Acting as a point of contact for claimants, insurers, and other stakeholders.
Investigating claims and gathering relevant information and evidence.
Assessing and evaluating claims to determine liability and appropriate settlements.
Maintaining accurate records and databases related to claims.
Providing reports and analysis on claims activity to inform decision-making.
Collaborating with internal departments to gather information for claims.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:

Proven experience in handling insurance claims, ideally within a local authority or public sector environment.
Sound knowledge of insurance principles, policies, and practices.
Strong investigative and analytical skills, with the ability to assess claims accurately.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with claimants, insurers, and colleagues.
Highly organised, with the ability to manage a diverse caseload and prioritise tasks effectively.
Attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping and reporting.
