Job Description

The role of Custody Navigator involves providing support for children and young people aged 10 to 17 who are brought into police custody suites. Through early engagement, intensive and targeted support, this role aims to prevent further involvement with the justice system, promote wellbeing and enable young people to make constructive choices.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the multi-disciplinary Adolescent Service, working directly with vulnerable children and young people and their families. If you enjoy working with young people and would like to make a difference, this role may be for you. As Custody Navigator, you will be supporting adolescents aged 10 to 17 who are brought into police custody suites. Through early engagement, intensive and targeted support, this role aims to prevent further involvement with the justice system, promote wellbeing and enable young people to make constructive choices. You will need the skills to engage young people in a range of settings and coordinate with parents, carers and existing professionals to ensure a joined-up approach to safeguarding and positive outcomes. To apply for this role, you wll need experience of working directly with vulnerable children and young people with complex needs and ideally of working in partnership with youth agencies and organisations.
