Graduate Trainee Project Manager (Construction)

The Method Group is a growing construction company specialising in high-end residential builds and fitouts. We work on quality-driven projects from new-build homes and extensions through to bespoke interior fitouts, and we pride ourselves on the standard of finish and attention to detail we bring to every job.

Overview

We are seeking a motivated and ambitious Graduate Trainee Project Manager to join our growing construction team at The Method Group. This entry-level position provides an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate to develop practical project management skills while gaining hands-on experience across live construction projects.

Working alongside our experienced Project Managers, Site Managers and commercial teams, you will be involved in the planning, coordination and delivery of construction projects from pre-start through to completion. You will gain exposure to site operations, subcontractor management, health and safety, programme management, procurement, quality control, project documentation and client communication.

This paid role is designed to develop the next generation of construction professionals through structured training, mentoring and practical experience using modern construction management systems and industry-standard processes.

Duties

Assist Project Managers and Site Managers with the planning, coordination and delivery of construction projects.
Support the preparation and monitoring of project programmes, milestones and key deliverables.
Assist with coordinating subcontractors, suppliers, labour and site activities to ensure works progress safely and efficiently.
Attend site meetings and assist with recording actions, responsibilities and deadlines.
Assist with reviewing construction drawings, specifications and project documentation.
Support the procurement of materials, plant and subcontractor services.
Help monitor project costs, variations, purchase orders and expenditure against budgets.
Assist with preparing progress reports, project updates and information for clients and senior management.
Support the preparation and maintenance of construction documentation, including site records, inspection records, photographs, reports and handover information.
Assist with ensuring projects are delivered in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, programmes and quality standards.
Support health and safety procedures, including site inspections, toolbox talks, risk assessments and method statements.
Assist with quality control, snagging and the close-out of works.
Coordinate information between clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers and internal teams.
Help identify project risks, delays and potential issues and assist with developing practical solutions.
Learn and utilise construction management and project management software to monitor jobs, tasks, costs, documentation and progress.
Assist with project handover and completion, ensuring all required documentation and outstanding works are completed.
Develop an understanding of construction contracts, commercial processes, procurement and project administration.

Requirements

Recent graduate with a degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Project Management, Building Surveying, Engineering, Business Management or a related discipline.
Genuine interest in developing a career within the construction industry.
Strong organisational and time-management skills.
Excellent communication skills and confidence working with people at different levels.
Ability to work effectively as part of a site and project team.
Strong attention to detail and a practical, problem-solving approach.
Ability to prioritise tasks and work effectively in a busy project environment.
Basic understanding of construction processes, project management principles and health and safety.
Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and Excel.
Familiarity with construction or project management software is advantageous.
Ability to read and understand construction drawings is desirable.
A willingness to learn about construction contracts, programmes, costs, procurement and project delivery.
Full driving licence is desirable due to the requirement to travel between sites.
Previous construction, site, labouring or work-placement experience is advantageous but not essential.
