Full job description

Description

We are currently seeking a part-time Kitchen Assistant, who will support the day-to-day operation of the central kitchen, preparing and cooking food to high standards. The job also supports all food preparation for hospitality and events, (This is a part-time role, 25 hours per week, term time only)

About the Role

Working with the Head Chef and kitchen team, you will help deliver excellent food and customer service while maintaining high standards of food safety, presentation, and hygiene. You will support stock control, food preparation, menu development, and HACCP compliance, while helping to minimise waste and maintain a clean, safe kitchen environment. This is a varied, hands-on role that requires flexibility, teamwork, and a commitment to delivering an outstanding catering experience across our hospitality services. In addition, you will assist in the planning and delivery of events such as graduation, open days, weddings, summer schools and conferences

About You

Food safety Qualification
Experience of food prep, knowledge of allergens and special diets
Excellent Customer service skills
Commercial Kitchen experience
Teamwork & working under pressure evidence

Additional Information

Grade 3 - Starting from £16,343 rising to 16,434 per annum pro rata £25,949 - £26,093

The salary range shows the potential maximum pay progression in addition to any annual inflationary increase to your pay. Please note that our default position is to appoint into the lower end of the range, unless there are exceptional circumstances.

Please Note. this is a part time role 25 hours a week, term time only

You will be required to work evening and weekends for planned events, for which, overtime will be paid when in excess of contracted hours.

Due to operational requirements some flexibility of working hours will be required in order to meet business needs. The department can be open 7 days a week and post holders will be required to work on a 5 out of 7 rotating pattern. Covering early mornings, evenings & weekends. Advanced notice will be provided.
